I still can't make up my mind on which bonus offer to go with...
Blase is right and the 10,000 points will not be hard to earn. I don't have the SW card yet, but plan on doing it this way to get the companion pass. I currently start all my on-line shopping through the Southwest Rewards and rack up the points that way, that usually gives me enough points each year for RT tickets to Vegas at least once, coming from the east coast, it usually takes about 30,000+/- currently for a flight. Not a bad way to earn the points without getting the card.
Rob,
You can call them after you are approved and ask them to expedite (overnight) the card to you because you have upcoming purchases you intend to charge. I've done this a few times in the past and they have always been willing to do that for me.

Ok. Just finally decided to apply. I went with the 25k bonus. Got approved. Going to call tomorrow to see if they can expedite the card. Ridiculous limit on it...that I do NOT need at all. Can't wait to get it.
@SoCalRob I didn't want to tell you what to do but I would have done exactly the same thing I haven't paid for a flight in years.
Thanks for this thread... I don't have one of these but think I should since I fly mostly SWA.
@clemi, Keep your eyes open for the 50,000 point offer. My Tim just got the offer in today's email.
I think I got the same one, not a bad deal!

In my opinion, if there's just you and maybe one other person...$2k is a lot to spend in three months. That's one reason I didn't wait. My main credit cards are my Chase Disney and my Amex Gold Delta. I use a Chase Amazon for anything I buy on Amazon and my TR card when I'm at CET hotels. I got the Southwest one for pure SWA flights only.
It would keep me stepping too Rob. I probably spend $800-$900 on groceries. Probably $200 in gas. Pay the internet and cell bill. I could get close with some excess purchases I suppose. I like my Amex with no annual fee for now.
@SoCalRob If you have a friend that run's a bussiness for someone run the card for the cash sales he has one day and have him give you the money I know some people that do that.
I check rental car prices using SWA everyday. Sometimes I run into prices that make no sense. I'm looking at Alamo premium car for 12/13-12/20.
I check prices for picking up at 9am, 9:30am, and 10am. Return time is always 7:30am on 12/20.
Prices:
-9am $243
-9:30am $204
-10am $243
Some sort of glitch to exploit in the pricing. You just gotta check this stuff folks
Wow what a joke for half hour diff thanks for the tip
Just found the best deal ever maybe a pricing mistake but I heard they still honor

Nice steal!
Both ends of my flight to Houston in November have gone up $13 since I booked a week ago. Wonder if they will ever go down between now and November ?

That's a terrific price, beats what I got from San Jose to Vegas!
I think they are trying to put spirit out of business or at least compete here are some rates from Dallas to Los Angeles

Has my FIRST SWA flight last week from DEN to MKE, to visit the siblings.
I bought 2 seats since I am XS, and they have all ready refunded the extra seat.
Will be traveling using SWA again in late Nov, Den to LAS.
How does SW Early Bird check in work? I leave Monday, do I need to go check in online. I don't have a printer so I'll get my BP at the airport. Thanks. #1stimer
It will check you in automatically. You can go online and still do the check in process, it will let you know what boarding position you have. Then at the airport go to a kiosk and print out your boarding pass. Easy stuff! Enjoy your ghetto first class experience, hope you get a good position! :)
I do early bird for all my flights since I'm so picky about where I sit.
I got A35 which I will print at airport....any tips on where to sit? I usually pick a window seat so I won't have to get up if seat mates go to bathroom a lot. Thanks!
