The powers that be are not going to allow (Real) gambling in texas .just the "F"ed up lotto and the ripoff type II casinos that's all ready here . .my guess is the Texas has some sort of non compeat agreement or Compact with Louisiana casinos .or it could even be the Protestants there lobby has been against Texas gambling for quite some time .there had been some talk about lifting Type II gambling restrictions and opening some TYPE III facility's in Austin along the river . but that was a while back and nothing ever happened .
Oh Btw John ...bad Link
I couldn't read the link...
But I always thought the Dome Stadium would make a great casino...... They want to know what to do with it LOL
Strange Maybe because of the dashes?

I had no trouble with the link. Yeah, it seems like you guys won't see gambling in your state anytime soon. But I like Peggy's idea. That would be one hell of a casino floor! The eyes in the sky would have to be pretty dang powerful though. [emoji14]

I just don't understand the mentality of Texas and the no gambling thing. If any State would allow gambling, you would think it would be Texas. Heck, when we lived there, they had the Blue Law and you couldn't buy half the stuff you needed on Sunday. They would rope off the aisles in the grocery stores and pharmacies.
Yeah they have dropped enforcing some of the blue laws . And it was a weird selection of items like you could buy wood .but you could not buy nails . ??? you could buy paint But you couldn't buy a paint brush ??? ..but now its just no alcohol before 12 noon on sunday.
Goes back to the old roman catholic church values . you should be in church on Sunday its the day of the lord . so im guessing no commerce or drinking as well .at least some one had the good scene to put that 12 noon disclaimer in there .hhhh...Chit football would of been REAL boring sunday afternoon with out that .hhh
No car purchases in Illinois either. Started out as a religious thing years ago but when stores and shops started opening the car dealerships lobbied the state not to open cause they wanted a day off. So no dealers open on Sunday.
Heading to San Antonio tomorrow, this is the first trip we have made in many years where there wasn't a casino.
Eventually Texas will legalize it. When it becomes apparent that the $400M in revenue that is leaving the state could stay there, things will change.
I have witnessed the 11:59 phenomenon. A long line develops at the register with everyone holding a 12-pack and credit card at the ready. Easy to see who had more fun than planned on Saturday.
I think I heard some time back that MGM has already purchased land in the Arlington/Grand Prairie area for whenever Texas does get their ass in check.
I also heard a few years ago that Harrahs bought the old Astroworld property in Houston hoping for Texas to make casino gambling legal. The rumor hung on for a good bit. MHB Asset LP, a Fort Worth investment company bought it. Later the Houston rodeo bought half of the land.
For what it's worth, for a state with no gambling, I seem to lose $500 every time I visit the Indian reservation near Livingston, TX. Naskilla Gaming is going strong with Class II gaming.
It's a 12 minute trip to Naskilla and 2 hours to Lake Charles from my current location. We just go to kill an afternoon.
Kickapoopoo! Lol!
