After being at PH for a week in May I can pretty much remember every machine still I think. I tried a $5 double diamond machine in the HL room. It actually let me play forever on $100 going up and down and I eventually cashed out at my $100. It wasn't the deluxe with the arrows, just the regular one against the back wall. There's at least one of the deluxe ones in dollars outside of HL that you can change up to $2 or $5. I also tried a 2x3x4x5 $5 reel in the HL room and it did good too, ended up a little bit ahead. I would try at least $100 of it in one of those games. I find that even as bad as the slot paybacks are on the Vegas strip the $5 reels are set pretty good. I always say I'm going to just play those but never stick to it.
I have also done pretty well on the Cleo II games there. I think they only have two left now, up in the front, that you can change the denominations on. I seem to do the best on nickles on those, even better than if I played them at the 10 cent level.
The buffalo stampedes do seem to play well for me there, like others have said. I usually see a handpay or two on them every time. If you are going to bet big on a penny slot these might be the ones to try.
If you try VP, they don't have much in the way of good games anymore there. There's still a bank of 7/5 Bonus Poker if you are willing to play dollars ($5 per hand). The rest of the casino downgraded to 6/5 or less. These will at least let you play for a bit and if you hit a 4OAK you'll be good. I also still love to play the Dream Card poker games there, my first and only dealt royal came from one of those last year.
