Thread: Changes to the Palazzo casino

    Changes to the Palazzo casino

So with all the construction and curtained off areas going on at Palazzo as mentioned by Trey and Ken, I asked my ex host who now works for Hotel management about it. He said they won't be making the Palazzo casino smaller that he expects all slots will eventually be returned to the casino floor and he feels after the renovations are done next year the casino will look a lot better.

The gift shop near the room elevators, the bathrooms on that side and what has been walled off since Dos Caminos restaurant (this was a large space they have been using or private events) closed a few years ago will be turned into retail. Next year the casino floor is being reworked at Palazzo and the Laguna Champagne lounge will be changing names, becoming taller to stand out more and I guess perhaps the theme is changing too.

The escalators near the player's club that goes up to the 2nd floor and also directly leads into Table 10 is being moved next year because they feel it blocks out what will once again be restaurant space behind it from being noticed. Where Trotters used to be years ago there will be a new restaurant next year. That is the space behind where the escalators currently are in Palazzo and like the former Dos Caminos area it has been walled off and not noticeable.

Hong Kong Cafe opens up the end of this month where Zines used to be in Palazzo.

I'll try and find out more around the end of the year or early next year.

Also the Palazzo rooms are getting renovated next year.

Thanks for the update Diana! I'm now wondering if I should change my reservation to Venetian for Manette's bday if there's going to be a lot of construction going on at Palazzo next month. :/

I was good with it too, but Barrett tells me it's going to be a big improvement once it's finished at some point next year. We shall see. Hopefully I'll at least like the new restaurants.

It might be worth considering as Venetian's rooms are already renovated. My suggestion if you switch is to tell them do not want a room in the Venezia Tower at Venetian as that not only results in a much longer walk from your room to anywhere at V/P but you have to take a elevator from the Venetian lobby to the elevators that take you to the rooms at Venezia Tower.

My family will be staying at Palazzo during part of our Thanksgiving trip and I'm disappointed that a lot of my favorite slots will likely still be put in storage due to the construction.

They gotta do it sometime. I just wished they had waited till after the new year... You know, when I won't be there. Haha

Thanks @ Evoni, I was getting a little worried but this actually sounds pretty positive in the long run. I hope they keep it more sedate than the Venetian side, like it has been in the past, but I wouldn't mind having those empty spaces turned into something worthwhile. I wonder they will put the escalator. It blocks a lot of space the way it is nw, but I do like the easy access to Grimaldi's and Table 10. It will be fun to see how it all shakes out!

@SoCalRob, I would change to Venetian if I were you (or come on down to Cosmo!), but follow Diana's advice and specify no Venezia Tower. I only had it once and I prefer not to stay there again for precisely the reasons Dina mentioned.

I hope some of your slots are back for Thanksgiving Diana!

Diana, even though I am not a Palazzo Princess I hope that they do not end up doing like a lot of casinos do with an update and make changes for the worse when it comes to the slot floor and selection. Everyone raves that it is the best casino in Vegas. It would be a shame to ruin what seems like a good thing.

Whatever happened to "If it isn't broke. don't fix it?"

Thanks for the info! I look forward to seeing the finished product and if I go to Vegas in March I think I will stay at Venetian this time

Thanks for the inside info Diana! I really hope it will be better. We shall see.
Pallazo has a lot of under utilized space. Dead zones. The new baccarat area. Where the tournament slots use to be. The video poker area by high limit area.
I like the openness of it and hope it doesn't turn into a maze like Venetian.
