Denver is amazing! We moved here 8 yrs ago from Seattle. I miss the water in Seattle, but lots of other stuff to do here.

Best concert venue is def Red Rocks...make sure to ck it out. Tons of good craft breweries (although I prefer vodka - hhh). Breckinridge Brewery is one of my dh faves. We do have a cool gambling town in the mountains. Slots can be super tight most days, but still really fun!

Thx to all for helping me get my post count up!

My 17 yr old daughter and I are flying into Denver Wed for a week of Rocky Mountain fun. 5 days in Estes Park then 2 night in Blackhawk (Ameristar). Blackhawk looked like the best place to stay to do a rafting trip down Clear Creek. Probably not much slotting obviously, but casinos are usually the best places to stay as they have tons on amenities lol.

If you have any advice on things a 17 yr old might like, just post 'em up. Thanks

Ameristar is definitely the best hotel in Black Hawk - good choice. Your daughter will love the roof top pool. But not a ton of other non-gambling stuff in Black Hawk. The town itself is neat....most of the casinos are in old gold mining buildings. They've kept those pretty historic, on the outside, at least. Rafting on Clear Creek is amazing! If you have time, try to take a day trip to Vail. It's only a couple of hours away from Black Hawk and worth checking out.

Estes Park is always fun....small town, so not a ton to do there, but RMNP is amazing. Are you going into Denver at all? Check out the 16th Street Mall if you do. Lots of shops, restaurants and other fun stuff to check out, things a 17 yr old girl would love.

Hiking/sightseeing in RMNP is the main attraction for us. Not really doing Denver at the moment but you know how things can change. She wanted to see the Macklemore concert Sunday night but not really interested in knocking a night off Estes to do it and not driving back there in the middle of the night. Gonna check out Univ of CO but out of state tuition is crazy high. Will keep 16th St Mall in mind, thanks!

Great info! We bought a place in the Golden Triangle a few years ago. I heard Red Rocks was excellent.. Would love to see Jackson Brown or Eric Church there. My daughter lives in Denver and is a big fan of Hops and Pies. We will have to check out the mountain gambling next non work trip. Thanks for the great info.

I used to work close to the Golden Triangle, but am now in the middle of downtown. You were smart (lucky) to buy in that area before the real estate boom in Denver happened!

We were very lucky. My daughter moved out to Denver to work 3 years ago and was struggling finding reasonable places to live. We knew we wanted to retire in Denver so we looked at 5 places in 5 areas in one day, .. and put in an offer that day. We lucked out.. as she and a room mate have been paying the mortgage, while we pay the HOA's and the upkeep. We are going to try City Living.. if it doesn't work out for us.. we should be able to sell for a nice profit. (Sorry- didn't mean to Hijack the thread.. but also didn't want to leave @StephanieA2531 hanging.
