How often do you chase progressives?

Reading a couple of recent posts, I got to wondering how many of us chase progressives. So I have a few questions for you all. Let's start it with a poll, and then if you could comment with whatever you have to add that would be cool. I'll throw a few questions in the next post.

    I chase progressives:

    1. All the time.

    2. At least once a trip.

    3. Once in a while, when one really catches my attention.

    4. Only when I lose my mind (now and then)

    5. NEVER

What does it take for you to chase a progressive?

Do you have a stopping point, or will chase until it happens?

    What is your success rate?

What tips can you share with us?

This is a fun poll Chris, here you go:

For me it’s #1, I’m a sucker and I always get reeled in!

    1. A full pot of any gold coins or Ainsworth slots that have high Minors and Majors (I am constantly chasing those).

    2. Sometimes my only stopping point is a cranky husband who says “I’ll drag you out if I see you feed that machine one more time.”

    3. I think I’ve done pretty well hitting the Minors on Ainsworth slots but those wins just keep me playing not really winning. I’ve never hit the Major on any of the Asian themed pot slots no matter how much I’ve played or at the higher bet amounts either. I’ve hit the Major on LL a couple of times.

    4. Play the slots that are fun to you, even though I often chase on DD I love that damn game and don’t get too upset when I lose. Don’t see someone’s awesome hit on here and think you’ll get the same success next time you’re at the casino, that never works. TAB has awesome hits on a slots that I zero success at even getting a good line hit let alone all the HP’s he gets in one month!

Chris.. you witnessed my Diamond in a day chasing that f’n white tiger jackpot.. that still had not hit a month later..

I love a good challenge.. Jolly Roger and I won both many times.

I am learning to walk away from majors on LL.

Those machines with the possibility of a big win suck me in!

Hmmm, so I'm guilty of chasing the random jackpots that build up on Good Fortune. I'm obsessed with that game and only ever see it at Borgata. But, in general, I don't think I chase as much as choose a game based on what I think is it's potential (ha! not that I've ever really been right). I check the majors on LL and Gold Pays/Gold Stacks, and the coins in the pots on 88 Fortunes and DD (though they even tell you it's meaningless), and the size of the pile that builds up and eventually overflows on "Ican'trememberthenameofthegame." I feel like the coins in the pots of the original 88 Fortunes meant something but they changed that in newer versions??? Does anyone else feel the same way? Not to go way off track here, but I played an old Ainsworth game "Fortune Fountain," and really enjoyed that. It retriggered a bunch of times for about 45 free spins, for a bonus of may $100, which isn't huge, but now I will definitely be playing it again.

After many attempts and hundreds of dollars gone, I decided to stop chasing progressives a couple years ago. However, this one was too good to pass up. I hit this one this afternoon at Atlantis.

There are two other machines with $1,000 majors. I’m done chasing, I hit mine.
