Last Friday, I received an email about a data security breach at Firekeepers Casino. The breach was certain transactions involving debit and credit card transactions in the casino and certain other people who had given drivers license and social security numbers for winnings. According to the news, 85,000 people were affected. I received a letter today and just called them....and lucky me..... It is my drivers license and social security number that may have been compromised.
I have had one handpay there.....it is one of my least favorite casinos..
Has anyone else had this happen to them? Should I be really concerned? I really am....I actually feel worse after calling their helpline....

I haven't from any casino but I got a notice the other day from when the hackers got into the government system, former employee. It is nerve wrecking but truthfully the only thing we can do is stay on top of credit reports and accounts to make sure nothing funny is going on. They usually offer some type of free credit monitoring. Hope this helps.

Yes they did offer free credit monitoring which stated automatically and a second company also. There are so many fraud protections in place for credit cards and debit cards..... that isn't a big deal anymore..
I am sorry that happened to you as a former employee...

I have had it happen twice and both times they gave me automatic credit check protection. I now have it myself and they notify me if there is any activity on my accounts or if there are any applications for credit. Glad they gave you something. I am sure all will be fine.

Some 'credit monitoring' essentially means if YOU see a bogus account opened on your credit report, YOU have to report it and the credit monitoring company helps you fix it.

Reading the fine print from after the health care hack I got, that's how it worked. They help if your identity is stolen but don't prevent it from happening. You need Lifelock or something similar to prevent it.

I believe Equifax also has a product that is proactive. Otherwise the free services provided by the hacked company are typically only passive.
Since your situation involves identity information much more serious that credit card or debit card numbers, you might want to consider seeking out a more proactive service.

The first service offered is AllClear secure which is automatically started. If you have an issue, you report it "and a dedicated investigator will do all the work to recover your financial losses and restore your credit.". The second is AllClear Pro which you have to enroll in. It also gives information on security freeze.
I am so mad at this casino! When I think about all the things that the casino knows and watches, it would seem that protecting this type of information would be a top priority. I haven't been there in eight months... just didn't like it anymore!
I am going to enroll tonight and put freezes with the three credit bureaus.... I just don't have a good feeling about this....and emailing the CEO....just to let him know that this really sucks!!!
