Sharon and I visited the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana again today and had lunch in their beautiful Diamond Lounge over looking the harbor at lake Michigan.

We really are starting to love this casino and only a little over a two hour drive for us. We played long enough to make another 1050 TR credits and Sharon won $700.00 and I only lost $75 in six hours of play. :)

Did have 3 cocktails a piece. How can you say no to a drink when the servers look like this?

Yes their Diamond lounge is very nice. I hope you aren't travelling home as those thunder storms ran through the area. They are just about done. Yes we got caught in those storms. At one point we had to pull off on the shoulder because it was raining too hard to even see! Our Lincoln drove through 3 feet of water on the road at one point and is running like shit now, but we made it home okay with all the dash warning lights flashing..

I'm trying to decide which casino to go to when I'm in the Chicago area later this month- thinking I'll give Horseshoe another try. I usually go there or Four Winds and have done better at Four Winds before.

Looks like a great place. Too bad they don't have hotel although there are decent places in Hammond itself.

Joliet is only about 45 minutes west and on the way home, but still too far to drive after drinking. Believe it or not, even though Illinois has banned smoking in all public buildings, they do have smoking rooms on one floor of their hotel for compulsive smokers like Sharon and me.


Do they have parking for RVs? Borrow Foamys. Hhh! They do have RV and tractor trailer parking. Good idea but really don't want to hookup foamy's 5th wheeler to the back of my Town Car lol.

Thanks for the pics, I have been to the casino a couple of times but it's been a while. Never made it to the diamond lounge but I will make sure to check it out if I'm ever up that way again.

Only a smoker would understand this, but when you're sitting at machine while sipping a cocktail, the craving for a cigarette increases ten fold. No heavy smoker can drink alcohol, or even coffee, without a cigarette, it would be torture!

I'm right between Joliet and Hammond. I very much dislike the Joliet slot selection and slot floor. It used to be our first choice as we are not smokers. Now we go to Hammond Horseshoe. Much better slot selection and a much nicer Diamond lounge.

Yeah, I tried going to an Illinois casino once since the ban- they have those smoking "areas" outside but they are just not the same- did not enjoy it.

I also always liked the Indiana casinos more than Illinois before- Harrah's Joliet seemed so much smaller and I couldn't win a thing there ever.

We don't mind the smoke (even though we don't) but I do mind not being able to have a little fun while losing my money! (maybe even the hope of winning a little). So we go to Horseshoe and avoid Joliet.

I recall learning that Illinois has the highest taxes on their casinos of just about any state. That doesn't leave much for the casinos to pay back to the players- which was always my theory why I couldn't win a thing in Joliet, either Harrah's or Hollywood.

That's why I like going to Nevada casino's (LV mainly) and to AC. These casino's are only taxed around 9% which leaves more for the gambler to win and have a good time : )

goldengreeke Another reason to go to Horseshoe Hammond as opposed to Joliet is that here in IL the state has not approved automatic loading of FP. You still have to get those stupid coupons in Il. In Ind. you get to download your FP using your pin and your card.
