Vdara is treated like a red headed step child with it's older brother Aria. Vdara, owned by MGM, is a non-gaming hotel in Citycenter. I had the opportunity to stay there a few years back from a Priceline win of $90 a night. There is no casino, however it is a quick and easy walk over to Aria as well as Bellagio. In fact I walked in from Bellagio many times off the strip. Vdara offers quite a value for the cost. As like Cosmopolitan, Vdara was originally designed as a condo building. So the rooms are rather spacious. Here are some pics..

If you want an affordable luxury experience in Vegas, give Vdara a try! Larger suites are also very affordable if you are looking to splurge.

I agree, Vdara is worth checking out! There's no casino, and no smoking anywhere on the property, which might be a deal-breaker for some. But every room includes a kitchenette with a small fridge, stovetop, microwave, sink, and eating area -- so you can buy and prepare your own food, potentially saving significant $ for the important things (slots). You can even request that they bring you pots and pans if you really want to cook, not just warm things up.

Even the smallest rooms are set up suite-style, with a separate sleeping area. There's a comfortable living-room-ette, and even a desk for those foolish enough to bring work to Vegas (ahem, cough cough). The bathrooms are also nice, and fairly roomy.

The location is very convenient to Aria, Bellagio, Monte Carlo, Cosmo, and PHo. Vdara frequently offers great deals -- just get on their email list and/or check your M Life account and you can usually find a pretty good rate. It's worthwhile to try to upgrade to a "lake view" room, which gives you a view of the Bellagio fountains.

My only quibble with Vdara is that the window shades (which are rather stylish Roman shades) let in a bit too much light around the edges. Bring a eye mask if you're plagued by this problem. Other than that, I give this property the official boots salute!

We have had comped nights offered to us through MLife, but have never taken them up on it. That may be a nice change some time. Thanks for the pics, CPT!

Would love to see some pix of anyone whose stayed at Mandarin Oriental. Almost booked a room there when I got an offer that seemed to be too good to be true. It turned out not to be so good :(

Well fancy that, clemi! I'm in the middle of putting together a long post about the MO, with photos, as I've stayed there a couple of times. I might not finish it today, but clearly glamorous minds think alike!

Ken, thanks for the scoop on Vdara. I have been intrigued with the place since staying at Aria, and I think it might be worth paying to stay there sometime and taking a day off from gambling. I know, I know, doubtful I could ever actually do it, but I could try........

I'll be spending 6 nights at Vdara over the M&G. I booked 3 through the myVegas $75 promo. They sent me an upgrade offer to an Executive Corner Suite for an additional $59 per night, and I took it. It will be nice to have a washer/dryer since my trip is almost 2 weeks. I also added on 3 nights, so I imagine I will have to move to a regular suite but that will be more than sufficient I am sure!

@CPT (http://jweforum.com/member.php?u=1) or anyone who has stayed there, is there a coffee maker in the kitchenette? Wondering if it's a Keurig and if so, I will throw some in my bag.

I am really looking forward to staying somewhere new, SHINY and super convenient to so many Jokers. Since I am anti-MLife, it will also be nice to play when and where I feel like it!

That is a very nice upgrade, it's like a small apartment!

I don't recall seeing a coffeemaker in the room I had, but then again it was the basic room. You are going to love it regardless!

My friend is going to Vegas for the SHERM conference at the end of June and is staying here. She is trying to convince me to meet her for the trip :). I spent time in the Vdara Spa on my last trip with a MyVegas reward.. LOVED it. I also finally used the short cut from Aria - through Vdara to Bellagio.. WOW was that a time saver. No Crystals - and way shorter time frame than the Tram! Thank you for the photos.. I will share with my friend so she can see what she booked!

No double sink in the bathroom in that Vdara room Ken? That's a deal breaker for me when I travel with husband.

Nhcris I don't think there's a coffeemaker, but you should call and ask if they can provide one, because I believe they'll provide pots and pans on request. And a coffeemaker is WAY more essential than pots and pans!

Failing that, you can buy a cheapo Mr. Coffee at the Walgreens directly across the pedestrian bridge from Cosmo (above PHo).

In the base room, just one! But the one that Chris is upgrading to has two. When I travel solo I feel silly when I have two sinks, which one to use? Who knows!

You are such a wise woman @boots (http://jweforum.com/member.php?u=119). I called and actually got a person who checked. In the upgraded suite i will have a Keurig but in the base suite, likely not. "If available" I will be able to get one from housekeeping. Naturally, I am going to try to pull off a coup to stay in my upgraded suite, but since a Friday night is involved I will most likely not accomplish that, so I am prepared to beg for the coffee maker - HHH.

I have, indeed, purchased coffeemakers from Walgreens in the past. I often wonder if the housekeepers take them home and unload them on E-bay.....

Since we're driving and we'll be there for a few days, if I actually remember I'll bring my Keurig...

Tell me more about this short cut through Vdara! We normally stay at Aria and Bellagio, but always use the tram. Did not know you could cut through Vdara. Which exit out of Aria do you use to access this short cut?

MNvegasgal

Take the exit out of Aria by the Gelato and sundries shop. There is a circular taxi/ valet area. Walk the sidewalk into the Vdara.. and there is a sky way that goes directly into Bellagio. It brings you in right near where the Tram would bring you in. Takes 5 mintutes. You can also get to Cosmopolitan, go out the same doorway, and take a right before you get to Vdara.. there is a stairway or an elevtor. Take it down one level, cross the street in the crosswalk, and enter Cosmopolitan through the Valet Parking area. You have to be careful here.. as this is the taxi and valet area.. so use the marked crossways and keep your eyes open. Not having to go through Crystals saved us so much time!.

My husband thought I was the smartest woman on earth when I showed him this short cut. He doesn't understand my forum interest, but between this forum, and Fivehundybymidnight podcast.. I found quite a few new things - and he was impressed. I actually think I heard about the shortcut from VitalVegas.. but I am not 100% sure, but I know I found out about VitalVegas from Fivehundy.. so it was one of those places.

Crystal's may be a blingy shopping area, but it gives me vertigo. My favorite casino hotel shopping area is the one at Palazzo - interesting shops (an antique bookshop!) and it's beautiful.
