Starting this thread if you want to voice a traditionally unpopular opinion about gambling, casinos, slots, or the forum. Sort of a "put on your tin hat" area if you will.

Here are two of mine:

* Even though I know machines are controlled by an RNG, I fully believe machines have a "sweet spot," a line/bet combo that pays out more frequently. I can go back to a machine, say a Flames of Olympus at Four Winds, and know that a 60 cent bet is the sweet spot on that one and it'll bonus frequently. Try another combo, and it's cold as ice.

* I might still believe that Spotterukot was telling the truth over on SF. :hide:

Here's a unpopular opinion : Las Vegas is overrated and not for everyone. I have only been there twice and not sure if or when I'll go back.

I believe you can have too many people go to Vegas. It is like hoarding cats sometimes get everyone to one location. I am not talking meet and greets but trips together with friends and family. The more the merrier can actually be the more. PeopleThe greater chance of a giant clusterf**k.

We are with you on this one. We've both been to Vegas countless times. We have free rooms. We'd much prefer to go to different areas of the country where there are casino choices but casinos aren't the only thing to do.

What makes me crazy are the posts about...
1. What time of the day is best to gamble
2. What day of the month is the best day to gamble
3. Discussions about the benefits of stopping the reels
4. Smoking in casinos.

Great post. I do agree that slots have sweet spots and those seem to be set for minimum bets.

I agree on the sweet spots too, particularly in casino versions. It's usually minimum or next up. VLTs are a different animal entirely.

I still don't know about spotterukot. I can't decide. There is a fellow I see sometimes in the HL rooms at the locals here that plays the same odd times I do (weekday afternoons) when it's pretty empty and who has had on occasion 6-8 machines jacked up to max bet and denom tied up along with the entire staff with handpays, some the $1-$2K ones frequent when you're betting $50-$100 a spin, others with 5 figures. I've seen other days where he's lost his ass. Sometimes stuff just comes together.

My pet peeve are the posts that are all negative about a particular casino....like when someone has post after post about how this place stinks, the machines stink, the comps stink, etc., etc.. I understand people may have had a bad day, as we all have, and are venting. But when it's over and over again it just bugs me, particularly when they're discussing venues that I've seen very nice things said about by other posters, or venues I've been to myself that I know for myself just aren't all that bad. It bugs me, then I feel guilty and want to give them a hug and help them find a way to change their play or their habits so that they can do better in the future.

I'd agree with you but I'm afraid of what might happen to me.

great topic. I'm starting to believe in the sweet spot theory on slots. I saw it yesterday on an old WW machine. This machine has consistently paid off on the smaller bets for years. But I'm not smart enough to bet small on it and I never win. Yesterday the guy was betting less than 1.00. I was too far away to see his bet, but I could see and hear him winning. He had 2.5 rows of girls and I could see he won well over 200.00 on the the spin. Doesn't seem like bigger bets work on this machine. But I also find other machines like a max bet

Im going to have to agree on this . ive been to Vegas 6 time in 15 yrs . and iv'e seen things i liked and iv'e seen things i didn't like. but over the years the dislikes surpassed the things i liked .like the endless nickel and dimming that all the businesses do out there to the constant bombardment of annoying sales people and ridiculous pan handlers every where . that being said i not sure ill ever go back to Vegas.
