View Full Version : 5000 pts at CET, on VP

So..... if I wanted to earn 5,000 pts at a CET property in order to get the 10,000 bonus points, how much would I have to budget? I really want to do it on VP, which would mean $50k coin-in, right? I've heard people say that it can take a dollar a point, but I would hope that it wouldn't cost me $5k seeing as on VP you tend to get enough wins to cycle through for a while.

Also, time wise, how long do you think that would take me? HHH!

Isn't VP $10 per point at Caesar's?

Right, so $50k coin in. Right?

I would look at the vpfree2.com website to see which are the best games at the property that you plan on going to. I have found at CET properties they can have a few decent paytable games mixed in with a lot of very bad games too. Make sure you know your paytables before you go. Also, it seems like the $5 denominations and up now have the $25 coin in for a point vs $10, so check for that too.

If you could find a good Jacks or Better or Bonus Poker paytable, go with that, getting the 2:1 on every two pair is going to help your money last a lot longer.

You'll need to play at least a $1 denomination with a $5 per hand bet. I would say I play somewhat fast, and can play a hand in 5 seconds on average, but I play a lot of VP. That's 12 hands per minute, 720 per hour, so you could do it in 14 hours. I couldn't sit at a machine for 14 hours myself, I have to move around a lot. However, if you find a decent game, with near a 99% payback in theory you should only lose $500- less of course if you have some freeplay. But keep in mind about 2% of the payback is hitting a royal- so if you manage to hit a $4000 royal you'll likely end up way ahead for the day, if not you'll probably lose more than $500, maybe $2000 or more.

If you can find a good multi-hand game with good paytables, you could then play 3 or 5 hands at a time, which would cut your playtime down a bit and you could probably hit the points in 3-4 hours. Just make sure you have a big bankroll, if the variance starts bad for you, you could be down a few thousand in the first hour before things turn around even on a really good paytable game.

Wow, kdk, thank you for the thoughtful and detailed response!

I don't have 14 hours to try to earn this, so I would probably play multi-hand, now need to check out VPFree to find their best pay tables.

I do love me some spin poker but at $45 a hand, the bankroll will go really fast if I don't get some good hits early. I might do quarter spin poker then at $11 a spin.

seemoreroyals, is it easy for you to earn 5000 pts in a day playing VP?

I have never done DIAD on VP. I haven't played much VP at CET properties in general.
You might want to look for a game like Bonus Poker, where two pairs pays 2:1 but you also get higher amounts for some 4OAK. That way you have the possibility of some higher paybacks along the line without hitting the royal.
Regardless, I would play multi-hand, 10 hand dimes or quarters.

I have never attempted it as sassycat and I play on the same card. I think only once or twice have we hit 5000 tc's on the same day but that 10,000 tc bonus sure was nice. I have one friend in particular at our home property who does it routinely. He takes a $10,000 bankroll with him for a 3 to 4 day trip. I have played beside him before and what he does is play about $10 - $15 a whack or more at times on a 5 play VP machine. He always play DDB with occasion switches to DW. I am sure he loses occasionally but he claims that he wins money every year and I have no reason to doubt him. All you need is luck and intestinal fortitude and you have both. I say go for it and let us know how it goes. Are you taking a shot at reaching 7 star card status?

Hey, Blase. Here's the pay table on Bonus Poker. http://wizardofodds.com/games/video-poker/tables/bonus-poker/ All are above 99% on an 8 - 5 game. If you could afford to play the $5 3-play or 5 play it would probably be better. It would still be a marathon though. You would have to have enough BR to make it through the bad runs that always come. I almost always play DDB myself.

I've done the 2500 points in one day three times, which was doable (but was still a long day of gambling playing mostly slots), and, it would only take you two or three times doing it, dependent on what your current tier score is, to get diamond.

Think about it too in terms of spins. If you're going to do $5 a spin for $50,000 coin-in, let's say you spin quick, 10 spins a minute, so 600 spins an hour. You'd have to spin 10,000 times to get 50k coin in. At 600 spins/hr, that would take almost 17 hours of play!

I have no idea how much bankroll you'd need. I remember one time I got 500 points at my local in one night, that's $70,000 coin in and I hit 6 jackpots totaling almost 10k, but cycled back through all the $. :(

I'd guess a 10k bankroll would be sufficient. 5k if you're really lucky!

Sounds like a risky proposition to me I know how much it cost me just to get my 2500 points in one day on slots... obviously Video Poker way less volatile

I'm thinking it will take me around a $1k bankroll to get 1,000 points (if I'm lucky!), so I'd say maybe $7500 in the ballpark to get 5,000. Then if you have extra, you take it home with you!

Thanks for all of the feedback, guys. Definitely too rich for my blood right now to attempt this. Plus, I have been having terrible pain/numbness in my right arm for a few weeks and I wonder if it has to do with gambling too much, so I'm trying to give it a rest. I had this problem early last year too and it affected me to the point I went to physical therapy for it (so much so that I had to quit work too). But that was in my left arm, which is all better now. I'm hoping it will go away by itself, but even sitting here typing this, I'm in extreme discomfort.

I'm heading to Joliet tomorrow to have dinner with my girlfriends, but don't plan to play much.

So I actually earned 5000 pts at Harrah's Joliet today, albeit unplanned. I had *planned* to try to get to 2500 pts, I knew today was a 4x-7x RC multiplier day (I ended up with 6x) and I had a bunch of free play vouchers that expired at the end of June, so I was in for the long haul.

The 2500 pts almost didn't happen due to some disastrous Ainsworth dollar machine play. I put in almost $1000 on Thunder Cash and Mustang Money ($3-$10 bets) and didn't get a single bonus!! Not playing those anymore there. Also tried a bunch of quarter video slots at $5 a spin and got nothing. I swear I was there for about an hour before I got a bonus on anything!! (And that was just regular penny Geisha, which I did play for a while)

I had some BR left so I switched to VP. Then the tides changed!

Later got this

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160602/2c5531c25e7de0dcd99495db482e8cff.jpg

I was having lots of nice hits on VP so when I saw I was around 3300 pts, I decided to go for it, as long as I didn't lose too much in the process. It took me about eight hours to earn the 5000 pts; as you can see I went over a bit.

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160602/e8693e5ec970f27f0e1307f1b4919114.jpg

So it ended up being a pretty great gambling day, earned around $330 in comps, will get the 10,000 tier bonus, and came home up about $1600. Would've been a lot more if I didn't go degen on Ainsworth right when I arrived!

Yes, those Ainsworth machines sure can be streaky - big congratulations on hitting your goal though, not to mention the comps and $1.6k - good times!

blase - does your local have Loyalty Rewards - meaning you play a certain amount of points and they send you free play for that visit. Here in Philly, if you play 75 Tier points, you're guaranteed $5. I usually get $10-20 from my visits.

I'm realizing video poker can be just as much fun as slots, when you add in all of the crazy stuff, like spin poker, dream card, etc. And with spin poker, the majority of the time you win something back on every spin!

You just reminded me- thanks to reading about your "dream card" wins a few weeks ago, I saw it in Vegas last week at PH. Gave it a try, and it dealt me a royal! Dealt 4 to the royal and then the dream card came up. It was only the single line version, but first time in my life I was ever dealt a royal and it help me come home about even for my trip. So thank you!

Jen, beautiful VP wins! That is an insane amount of tier credits in one day too! Congrats on saving the day and walking out with a profit, and with a very nice amount of RC's on top if it! I know Ainsworth can pay for a lot of you folks, but they have never done anything for me. Congrats again!

Wow, what a night you had! It's so hard for me to even fathom that as in my CET experience it almost always cost me right around $500 to get 500 points. You kicked ASS in every way - You got over 5000 points, will get a 10,000 point bonus, earned a shit ton of comps and walked away a winner! Impressive as hell!

I love extra draw frenzy too! I love when you are playing ten hands and then the EDF comes up and you get 25 hands!! However the only 4OAK's I ever seem to get are the 5-King variety. Have yet to crack a premium 4OAK on there so that's my goal!

Yes, it was a pretty amazing night all around. After the commentary here, I never thought I'd get a 5000 pt day without incurring a huge loss, so that in itself is amazing, let alone coming home with a nice win! And even though it's double the coin-in on video poker, those points really racked up quickly on VP!

Great wins Blase, congrats on making DIAD :)

Ha ha, Clemi!! Actually I am finally over Tier 1 Aspirations now, I should be right around 47000 pts after the bonus credits.
