Here's one for all you carnivores: What do you consider the best steakhouses in Las Vegas, and why? Any places you haven't been yet that are on "the list" for you?
Separate question: What's the best burger in Vegas? (I understand this could get ugly.) :)

think I have eaten at all the steak houses in Vegas except for the one at Circus-Circus, and I still like Ruth Chris Steak house at Harrah's the best:)

My two cents on the burger question.
Having researched this topic extensively over many years, my vote goes to the burger at Comme Ça, the French brasserie at Cosmopolitan. It's topped with cheddar and their special onion slaw (which is both delicate and savory, and not overwhelmingly oniony) and served on a wonderful soft brioche bun.
646
The best time to get it is during their 5pm to 8:30pm "social hour," because it costs $15 instead of $19 (lunch) or $20 (dinner).
647
I honestly don't know why this burger is so superior. Is it the meat? The cheese? The bun? The way it's cooked? The onion slaw? All I know is, I am not the only one to have flipped over this particular item. My lovely spouse still talks about the Comme Ça burger, and insists on going there on each of his rare Vegas visits.
The one thing about this place is that the service can be either really good or really awful. First time I went, by myself, I sat at the bar and was completely ignored other than having a burger and drink slapped down in front of me. Second time, with spouse, we sat at a little bar table and our server was great. In any case, this burger is good enough to risk suffering any amount of faux-French indifference. :)

I'm not much of a steak eater - I usually order a salad and an app such as a crab cake. I do like In-N-Out - the one on Sahara is a must-stop on the way out to Summerlin. The only "gourmet" burger I've had was at the burger place between Bally's and Paris, years ago but I don't remember it being too memorable.

Boots, you have a way with words! I want that burger right now! I feel brioche buns make the burger, thanks for the recommendation!

Granted I have probably not eaten at a majority of the steakhouses in Vegas just due to the fact that a few years ago we decided that since we go during the warmer months, we no longer take long pants because it is not fun getting dressed up when it is hot. But when it comes down to the ones we have experienced, it has got to be Prime at the Bellagio. The décor is stunning, the service was unlike any we have experienced anywhere. I remember the bone-in Ribeye melting in my mouth. Allen had the filet and was very pleased. There was not one negative thing about the entire experience. And then to top it off it was very nice after the meal to take a cocktail out on to the patio overlooking the lake and fountains. Dang, now I may have to take dress clothes in May!
Boots, thanks for the burger suggestion. Have never eaten there, but that may have to change.

CTslotters zeus, you are welcome! I really wanted to hate them after they were so rude on my first visit, but the excellence of the burger won out in the end. Was glad they redeemed themselves. :)

I don't like burgers that much so will pass on giving a opinion but I do eat at steak restaurants a lot in Vegas and have tried almost all of them. The ones I prefer I have eaten at numerous times and it's my opinion you can't go wrong at the following.
Cut at Palazzo- Always consistently good service and great food. This is our favorite but followed closely behind by:
SW Steakhouse at Wynn- Same reasons as Cut, however you really want a table on the patio or near it overlooking the Lake of Dreams. If you are deep inside the restaurant the crowding of the tables and noise levels takes away from the ambiance.
Prime at Bellagio. Same reasons as above. I prefer a table at the window overlooking the fountains.

If your dates in September with your family are at the end of the month you should try to spend a day or two at G2E too. :)

The only steakhouses in Vegas I have been to are Prime at Bellagio which was excellent and Brand at Monte Carlo where I had a prime rib which was pretty darn good. Maybe I should try Cut this trip on Diana's recommendation.

sw at wynn was the best i've had. The chile rubbed ribeye for 2 simply amazing.
Close 2nd prime at bellagio.
Hell could even be a tie. Sat on the rail right next to lake of dreams at sw. And sat on the small patio at prime lakeside so the ambience was top notch.

I've been to STK at Cosmo a couple of times. Had the small filet both visits. The actual meaty meat was great. And I like one of their signature drinks, the Green Intensity (also mentioned in the cock thread), a spicy martini-style basil/jalapeño beverage that you can get made with either vodka or gin. But some of the sides -- like their special bread and their mushroom dish -- were kind of weird and not worth repeating. And the overall vibe is very strange, more like a nightclub than a restaurant. So dark it's hard to see your food, DJ playing extremely loud music, and swarms of people milling around in predatory fashion at the bar.

Boots, I'm glad you mentioned Charlie Palmer as I've eaten there recently, during this year's New Year trip and then last year during Thanksgiving. It's a good restaurant with 2 bargain prix fixe menus, the Cut of the Week and as Mike mentioned the Michael Jackson prix fixe menu with both featuring a bottomless wine pairing. The Cut of the Week menu changes each week and is $48.00 per person with the MJ menu changing now and then at $49 per person. Also if you are dining with others who want to order off the regular menu they don't have that rule that everyone at the table has to be ordering the prix fixe if some want it and others don't. On certain days they also have a entertainment trio. I would put this on my list above as right under the first 3 restaurants I mentioned, but if someone is on a budget then it goes right to the top of the list. Their service and food at Charlie Palmer is very good!
Below is a cut and paste from my trip report when Mom and I ate there Thanksgiving week. If anyone wants to see the food porn that goes along with what I wrote, with a copy of the menus, it's in this trip report.
http://www.lasvegasdaze.com/2014/12/las-vegasthanksgiving-and-grazie.html#more
In addition to the regular menu Charlie Palmer has two great pre fixe menus that include wine pairings in the price and it's a fabulous deal! I ordered from the "Cut of the Week" menu and Mom from the Michael Jackson prix fixe.
Bread basket above and Mom's Roasted Squash Soup.
Loved my salad with Ambrosia Apples and Pomegranates. First time having Ambrosia apples, won't be the last.
Mom liked her Snapper with Israel Cous Cous.
Bone in Strip Steak with Onion Ragu was prepared perfectly.
We shared the sides (Nero Cavola Kale with Prosciutto and Sweet Potato Puree) that came with my prix fix as there was plenty for two or more.
I've had Mom's dessert of Chocolate Mousse Bar with Caramel Salted Ice Cream when I've eaten here before and know it's a yummy dessert.
My Pumpkin Cheesecake with Bourbon Ice Cream was wonderful, very light tasting for Cheesecake.
We were there on a Monday evening when they have live entertainment.

These are at the top of my list with some commentary:
#1-Cut- Top notch all around! Appetizers are the top of the heap and I could make a meal out of them without even having their steaks. Been dining at the original Cut in Beverly Hills since 2007 and the food is identical which is impressive.
#2- Delomoico's- Not as hip as Cut but steaks/appetizers are top notch. Some of the best Tuna Tartare I have ever had. If you like fine wine, Kevin is the Master Sommelier (only 200 in the world) who is most humble of humans and will steer you in the right direction all you need is $$$ if you enjoy fine wine.
I ate at Prime last year and was underwhelmed all around. Service was disappointing and the bone in rib eye I ordered was the quality/grade of a Denny's restaurant. My girlfriend's lobster tail was top notch but this is a steakhouse, I was expecting better since Diana's reviews were always so esoteric. I sent my steak back and refused another. I did continue to drink the wine I brought plus munched on bread.
I have dined at Strip Steak (MB) some years back but that was blah blah..
SW is my must try for me...

I am not a big steak person, but I felt Strip Steak at MB was all hype with nothing to back it up. I wouldn't return for a free steak. Also disappointed with Strip House at Planet Hollywood. Think I need to step up my game!
Tonight we had dinner at Voodoo and the food was good but not superb. Cyndy's filet was very tender & flavorful I had scallops that were very good, and both of our salads were excellent. The view is amazing and going out on the deck is breath taking. Thanks Cyndy!
I really like the burgers at Le Burger Brasserie in Paris. Yummy buns & fries. I also enjoy the buffalo burger at I Love Burgers between Palazzo & Venetian. But the place has zero atmosphere. Hoping to try B&B Burger & Beer this week.
Another great idea for a thread Boots!

Being we stay downtown and don't like to take a lot of time away from the gambling floor, we eat at the bar. Vic and Anthonys at the Nugget and Andiamo at the D. Normally share a steak and a side. Both are so good and quick. Steaks always excellent. Baked potato at Andiamo's is great.

I suggest using open table when your trip is planned to lock in a table at the times you want. Makes it easy rather then calling once ya land in vegas and hoping there is some availability.
I have used it for prime. Sw giada and recieved my requested table area each time.

Chris, please do follow up if you eat at B&B burger, it was on my radar for our trip since I love all things Mario Batali and we're staying there. Figured it could be a good stop for lunch prior to heading out to the airport. :)
And now Charlie Palmers is on my radar, I loved the food at his now closed NYC restaurant in Grand Central years ago, the prix fixe looks like a bargain!

I enjoy steak but have not been to steakhouses in Vegas. It's not something we generally think of there, but we have plenty of them here. I have to agree with boots about the Comme Ca burger. It ranks up there with some of the best burgers I've had and I've had it at least once on my last 4 trips to Vegas. I've heard rumors of Comme Ca closing, and if that happens, will really miss the burger.

Sounds like it's a dump from the outside, and a bit out of the way, but people seem to rave about this place.
Their menu online has an interesting feature where people "vote" for their favorite dishes. http://www.barrymorelv.com/menus/dinner-menu/

Comme Ca here in Los Angeles has been "under renovation" for months now. When they first opened years ago you couldn't even get a reservation not sure what happened but their wine director was first to leave, never a good sign. I drove by there the other day and no renovations are happening so more than likely it's closed for good. I enjoyed dining there for brunch/lunch as the food was always excellent plus they served their famous burger.
I need to check out the Vegas location as I hear the patio is fabulous!

Waah, my burger! :(
Check out the menu for Beauty & Essex, the resto that is *supposedly* taking over that space: http://beautyandessex.com/food/dinner/
Looks okay, but not much of a POV as far as I can tell. Maybe the POV will be in the decor? It also seems like B&E has a lot of Italian-y things on their dinner menu, and Cosmo already has two other Italian places directly next door to that spot -- Scarpetta and D.O.C.G. Three, if you count Secret Pizza.
