I am interested to see if anyone here has been there. We are thinking about taking our family there this summer. I have done some research on Trip Adviser, and it's getting some really negative reviews. We are possibly taking a group of 10 there, four which are kids.

Thanks in advance for any info.

My knowledge only goes as far as the aquarium and the casino. I haven't stayed there before.. But I was there in November as one of our port stops for our cruise. We toured the property.

I've heard the casino isn't that great, but at least it's a casino. Thanks SoCalRob.

The casino is terrible pay outs wise. It takes American dollars. I will say, do NOT under any circumstances use the atm. I took out.. $500 when I was there. The fee alone was $37.50. I think it was something like 7% or 9% of your withdraw. As far as everything else goes, a majority of people that were there, whether in the pool or the building or eating all looked VERY HAPPY. So they must be doing something right at the property.

My brother and his family including 2 small grandchildren have been going there for over 10 years every summer. He started going there when his two girls were teenagers. They stay at "The Cove" which is on property and has its own private beach and pools. They love it there and tell me there is quite a bit to do to keep busy even if you aren't into the sun (my sister in law isn't). They rent a cabana by the pool/beach for the week too. As far as the casino goes I'm not sure. They don't really gamble and I haven't been down there yet.

Thanks Jeani. Do you happen to know if the Cove is a new hotel? We sent our Orlando based son and DIL there on their honeymoon 13 years ago and they have not been back. Reviews are all over the place regarding housekeeping and staff.

That's what happens when I try to type something while sipping a glass of wine.

Good Morning Pat! No it is not a new hotel as in a few years old. They went at the end of May last year and are going in June of this year. They have never complained of the housekeeping or staff and believe they would if it was not good. Look up www.atlantisbahamas.com (http://www.atlantisbahamas.com) There is the Cove Atlantis and also the the Reef Atlantis along with the Atlantis Towers. My brother was telling me that the Cove and Reef are private in that if you aren't staying there you can't get on the property say as to use the pool at the Cove rather than the Atlantis. You can go to the Atlantis though and all the restaurants and shops. Like I said they love it there so if you have any other questions let me know and I'll ask him. :)

Pat, I have never stayed there but have visited a number of times from cruise ships. What @Jeani (http://jokerswildforum.com/member.php?u=41) says about the Cove being private is very important, because the resort & cruise lines sell day passes and the other areas of the resort can get inundated with day people. It is not unusual for Nassau to have as many as 6 cruiseships in port, including the big ass ships, which adds over 20,000 people into the mix, and Atlantis is the big draw for them.

I have also seen the Trip Advisor reviews and I can concur that a lot of the public areas had deteriorated maintenance wise, but it's been a year or so since I was there. I do know people that have stayed at the Cove, including my very fussy sister, and they were pleased overall. The casino atmosphere isn't terrible, although I haven't had much luck there.

I guess what I am saying is that if you go there, you would probably not be happy in the main towers, so should probably only consider the Cove.

I believe the Cove is adults only, very nice place but very expensive even when room is comped. I like Royal Towers, smack dab in the middle. Close to the pool, beach, and casino.

Best bet for family of 10 is harbourside Villa's, its a bit of a walk and not right on the property but still close enough. Staff is awesome, don't believe any crap about them being rude. Nicest people I've met.

Here's video proof when I got caught filming by a security guard.

Here's a link to the harbourside options. Let me know if you have any other questions.
