View Full Version : Cruise Anxiety HHH

So I have to leave very very early Saturday morning to fly to Puerto Rico to board this Carnival boat on Sunday - have tremendous anxiety because its the San Sebastian festival weekend in San Juan and from what can tell it's like Mardi Gras on steroids and have been to plenty of Mardi Gras arrrrgh - have convinced myself the Sheraton is going to give our rooms away and we're going to end up sleeping in an alley with luggage Saturday night until we can check in on the boat on Sunday HHH..
Sigh, I have to go continue packing, it is not going well lol, but just wanted to say goodbye probably until the 26th, and to please say a prayer for me and my luggage LOL..

Have a great time on your cruise. Are you doing the South Carribean? Personally it is one of our favorite parts of the world.

Thank you SMR, am not sure if its north or south, it seems like theres an island a day?? I know that sounds ignorant not to know the names HHH, but I just want to sit in the sand wherever they port and drink a coke and rum and people watch lol, oh and I hope they have wild monkeys somewhere - was talked into this by coworkers in a weak moment last spring - will do a trip report when return..
The hotel room giveaway thing really did happen to my friends at Mardi Gras, and yes they pretty much slept drunkenly in an alley HHH..

I don't think you will be disappointed. Sounds like you are doing the South Carribean. Beautiful part of the world. Be careful if you rent a car though. On some of the roads you drive on the right side of the road and on some islands you drive on the left side of the road. Every port you wake up to a whole new world. None of the islands we stopped at were the same. Some were occupied by the British and some were occupied by the french. You should not have any trouble finding a place to sit in the sand and get just about anything you want to drink and I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities to see some wild monkeys.

When you get to St. Maarten, that is where the best shopping is IMO. Best prices. Not sure which port would be best for seeing wild monkeys but you have a great port itinerary ahead of you. Looking forward to your trip report.

You are going in a day ahead, so you have nothing to worry about! Even if the unthinkable happened and your room was given away, there is a casino in the Sheraton so you can check your bags and play all night :D
There are some beautiful beaches to be enjoyed on those islands and some Island Rum with your name on it!

3 out of the 4 cruises we took were out of San Juan. We went in 2 days early and stayed 2 days after each cruise. We loved walking around Old San Juan, the casinos and the food.

Trip report short version due to illness: the monkeys were in St. Kitts a $20 bill will buy you a lot of monkey time, especially since I didn't know my friend had already popped some cash lol - thought we were going to end up adopting the monkey they stuck around so long - the monkey's name was Sonny, 7 mos old and wore the cutest lil monkey diapers! I know they're not suitable pets, but getting to spend that much fun time with one was a dream fulfilled - he loved tropical punch!
Did Oriental Beach at St. Martin - got in a fight with Gregory who tried to stiff several us on our beach chairs, he didn't know what he was dealing with HHH, it was great drama..
Have been very ill since returning so lots seems like a blur right now - lots of old IGT machines on the ship and in the local casinos, things I hadn't seen in 10+ years?
Felt very comfortable in the ship casino - prolly a good thing they shut down when in port or I might have just stayed in there 24/7 andmissed getting the sunburn of my life HHH!
To be continued :kiwi-fruit:
