View Full Version : Wynn/Encore & Venetian/Palazzo
I am sure that this has been discussed in the past so I apologize if this sounds like a broken record. What type of play do you normally have to give in a day's time at Wynn/Encore & Venetian/Palazzo to start receiving comps? And by comps I mean a few free nights with some FP and possibly food credits. As I am sure you are all aware by now, we are low-rollers. We average $6-7k coin-in per day, but have been known to hit $8k+, so I will work off of our average.
For several years now while in Vegas we have been very loyal to MLife. I know that not everyone is a fan of them, but they have been very good to us. We normally get 3 free nights, plus $200-350 in FP and $200-300 in RC's. We typically book at Aria for three nights and then move over to Bellagio for the next two or three. (Bellagio is very good about allowing us to check right out of Aria and straight in to them, and they give us the RC's also.)
We are giving CET some love this May by staying at Caesars Palace. But we wonder what it would be like to try something even newer to us. We do not expect a lot in FP or RC's, but wonder if our level of play would result in any offers? I did not mean for this to turn in to a novel, but I wanted to share as much detail as possible. There are so many experts on these properties that I knew this was the place to ask? Thanks in advance!!!

Yes, we have never played at either.

Go into Wynn in the morning, open one account and get two cards, play your normal $7K on that same day, then leave and don't go back. About a month later, you will get some terrific comp nights and FP offers. Big advantage to being new card holders and playing all day, you will make a great impression. $7K in per day is a nice amount, probably lose 10%-15% of it.

Does playin g on 2 cards at same time at wynn work?
Also if you do that much coin in you will be getting good teaser offers i am sure. Hope you can take advantage of em. I love wynn pool area and restaraunt selection

That sounds exactly how we would do it. We typically spend our day's allotment on the same players card. Thanks for your input.

That is a question for me also. MLife lets us link our two cards without an issue, where at CET both cards are in Allen's name.
And dude, you have met me. There is not enough money for me to be seen at a pool. And a Vegas pool at that! HHH

Uh, take it from a real low roller...$6-7k is not considered low rolling to a lot of people. We have gone to Vegas for 7 days on $2500 for 2 people😆

Back in 2010, Sharon and I played at the Venetian for the very first time.
We playing slots for 8 hours with an average bet of a dollar a spin. we lost around a thousand dollars.
3 months later an offer in the mail came for $900 Free Play and three nights free in their 2000 square foot Primo Suite!

zeus I wish I had concrete answers regarding Wynn but their Red Card program award tiers are not published. I heard 3000 points per day is a threshold for offers but that is hearsay; 1 point is $1..50 coin in played on slots according to this site... much more if you play VP:
https://rewardview.com/en/rewardology/2014/01/16/reward-view-wynn-las-vegas-red-card/
If you want RFB be prepared to accumulate way more points than 3000... my feeling, and it's only my experience is, you'll need to accrue > 5000 points/day for that. That could be way off but my experience is Wynn expects a lot from their players for an RFB comp.
Since I'll be at Wynn next month I'll try to keep notes on my play and let you know how Wynn liked me :)

Forgot to include that if you get an RFB offer from Wynn, you likely will be upgraded to stay at their Tower Suites :)
Thanks for everyone's input. Since we are low-rollers we are very low maintenance. We do not expect to be handed everything to us on a silver platter. We just like a nice room and do not expect a suite since we are not the type to actually relax in Vegas except for maybe a quick nap. Hell, we can relax at home! And we also do not expect to be handed a ton of FP or RC's. Maybe just enough for a sandwich or two. HHH!
Now for the loaded question. Between the two companies, which do you prefer when it comes to the standard rooms? I have seen pictures of the rooms at all four properties and they all look very, very nice.
Clemi, good luck next month and I hope Steve opens his wallet to give you a few HPs!!! I look forward to hearing about it.
Thanks again everyone!
Look, I walked into Steve's joint on Thanksgiving with 60 whole dollars in my hand. I gave it to him in about 15 minutes. I was expecting a host to come out, but they never came. Even then I still enjoy the $129 a night Sun-Thursday and I can be moved to the Encore if I ask. Oh yeah! You keep your $6k coin in at home, Steve is a simple man! :brushteeth:

I don't remember my coin-in, however, I spend about $2000 - $5000 and recyle it during my 5 night comped stay. I've only had food comped 2x, so far I've always get a limo ride to the airport, and stayed in the Parlor Suite 2x. I request a standard Tower Suite room now, it's comfy and pictured below.
I am a little fish at Wynn, but my host and her assistant are very nice and attentive. I don't require much, so I was surprised when my host called me on my birthday, arranged and comped a meal at Allegro and provided a BD cake along with the food treats and wine sent to my room.

Do your offers come with weekend comped rooms too? I'm comped at Wynn/Encore but have never been offered a weekend stay, only reduced rate. I also don't play there often so maybe that has something to do with it...

River song, that's so nice that your host did that. I'm newish to Wynn, I stayed in Sept on no offer and put in about 10000 pts a day on no offer (comp room up front, no freeplay) and the host comped food on the back end. I was told I did not qualify for a ride to the airport. Then, in January I stayed on a drawing weekend which came with 300fp and 300 fb daily plus limo. I had a blast, did like 8000 points per day plus some tables. I wanted to come back for April but was sad to not have a promo. The host gave me 500fp and 200fb daily upfront. I'm really thankful and happy to stay as it is my fav casino....

Personally I would pick Venetian/Palazzo (Venetian recently renovated rooms, Palazzo is suppose to start later this year) over Wynn due to slot selection, 24 hour restaurant Grand Lux that has a reasonably priced menu with tasty food, and it's not that hard to get 20k points and become a Gold Grazie member which gives you access to the only VIP lounge on the strip (Other then Palazzo's Platinum) that is open 24 hours a day with complimentary food and drink. However if you are wining on your trip, then play at both, and see who gives you the best offers for the next trip. :)

zeus, as far as the hotels go, both properties are really nice. Granted I have not stayed at V/P for at least four years, whereas I last stayed at both W and E within the past six months. But to the best of my knowledge, here are some pros and cons for all four hotels. (This is just about the hotels, mind you, not the casinos!)
Room decor: Wynn and Encore both have a higher level of attention to detail in their interior design, and a more cohesive design vision throughout the properties. Design-wise, Encore rooms can feel a little funereal due to the limited palette. (We'll see what happens with this year's room refresh.) Palazzo rooms have a slightly WTF aesthetic, like, "Oooh, I like this lamp! And I love this little bench! And who cares if they really go together?"
Beds: All four have wonderful beds. I'd say W/E gets a bit of an edge here, because their linens are nicer. They're about as good as a hotel bed can be.
Noise: In my experience you're far less likely to have club noise issues in V/P rooms than in either Wynn or Encore. To avoid club noise, note the location and hours for each club at each property, and keep this info in mind when you book. At Encore, opt for a north-facing room (less view, more peace). At Wynn, go for a golf course view (unfortunately this may count as an upgrade). And always specifically ask for a quiet room with no club noise at check-in.
Food: All four places have great food, if you're willing to pay for it. It's way harder to eat on a budget at Wynn/Encore, or find food at odd hours. And IMO the lower-priced dining options at W/E are not as good as they should be. Then again, my first and only case of food poisoning was at the Palazzo Grand Lux.
Ease of getting coffee: Maybe it's just me, but this is an important issue! Palazzo wins by a mile -- coffee is directly downstairs from the elevators at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Second easiest is Encore (the Lobby Bar is set up as a cafe in the mornings), but they can be a little slow. Third easiest at Venetian (Caffe Presse). Wynn is the loser here; you have to walk around the corner to the Drugstore Cafe, which is a pain in the butt when you just want your damn coffee now. :)
Random details that may or may not matter to you: Wynn rooms don't have power outlets anywhere near the bed. Drives me nuts -- how am I supposed to plug in my devices? Encore at least has bedside lamps with outlets in the bases. As I seem to recall from doing a ton of laptop-based work in both hotels, both V and P have outlets in the wall adjacent to the bed.
Venetian and Palazzo rooms have a one-step-down "sunken" living room area, which is a tripping hazard if you're not thinking about it or it's the middle of the night. There's a little light in the wall beside the steps to remind you of this -- but for me that's even worse, because it wakes me up (and it's hard to completely block off the light with pillows, etc.)
And finally, though the basic room sizes are all fairly generous, Venetian, Palazzo, and Encore give you a feeling of having more space because they're set up suite-style. As GG mentioned earlier, Wynn rooms are just one big room (though they are spacious). Here's the square footage breakdown:
Wynn: 640 sf
Venetian: 650 sf
Palazzo: 720 sf
Encore: 745 sf
Thanks for all of these details, boots! You have covered everything down to the convenience of getting coffee. Still a toss up at this point, but at our level of play it seems that V/P is more up our alley. Thanks again for all of the thought and effort for providing your input!

My DH and I only visit Vegas twice a year and sometimes only once. We we usually stop at Venetian, Palazzo / Wynn Encore one time each trip, sometimes twice. Our daily bank roll is $600-$800 (if we are doing ok) per day or less. There is no way we are spending that on any visit as we may stay 2 hours at the most. We play on one card and play together most of the time. I get offers every month from Venetian, Palazzo for 3 nights along with a slot tournament. there are about 2 per month but never seem to fall when we are going. We have never stayed there.
Yesterday I received this from Wynn.

We have never stayed there either. Anyway don/t think that you would have any issues getting comps at either place with your amount of play but it does seem to matter WHAT you play. We get more comps when we play dollar machines. I hope this helps. If anyone knows hot to get room comps at Palazzo without the slot tournament attached please give me some insight.

Talked to my Wynn host last week and she said Executive Slot hosts have the following rule of thumb:
5000 pts/day at Wynn will earn a comp stay in their Resort Tower
6000 pts/day will score a Tower Suites room
8-9000 pts/day will score RFBL, meaning limited RFB comps, presumably on top of the TS room comp, and will include limo transportation
My host also emphasized that executive hosts have total discretion on this, meaning they look at your play, your win/loss and other factors as a slot player and will comp based on that. She said for example playing long and losing will earn more discretionary comps (haha directed at me!)
She said table hosts may not know this so if you're playing the tables this may not be something these hosts will know.
Hope this helps :)

The only downside is the lousy video poker options, but then TI is right across the street for that.
@zeus (http://jweforum.com/member.php?u=42), I think you will find it is easier to get noticed at Venetian/Palazzo. I am a pretty low roller (although I can play for hours and hours and hours), and they have been taking care of me consistently for quite some time now. Let us know if you give them a try.

My Wynn host just called to see how my trip was. I thought that was very nice of her since I'm a guppie.

RiverSong Very nice of your host to call. 37,057 points is very nice, congrats and I hope you played with some slot winnings.
I have been exclusive to Venetian/Palazzo for the past 2 years and need a change of scenery for an upcoming trip. Haven't played at Wynn for 2 1/2 years although I do get offers for mid week rooms with some freeplay but not much. I emailed my host at Wynn to see if he would comp a weekend stay, waiting to hear back..

I think I made about 37,057 points over the 5 days @ Wynn. It will be interesting to see the upcoming offers. I was surprised when I checked in last week and had $200 food and access to the VIP lounge. I emailed my host's assistant to see if I was still eligible for an airport ride, I was and it was in their new Escalade which I prefer. Thanks for the info clemi
37k points is not a guppie slot player at wynn i can tell ya that for sure after my trip there LOL Lost about 5k and probably only got around 15k pts for 4 nights. maybe you were getting alot better wins then i had to cycle through then i got on my trip

It's a win, just not the one we would have preferred. :)
Yep Evoni, strange to say this is a win but I'll take it as you know how much I love Wynn :)
clemi Thank you for the detailed breakdown of points for comps as it's a great reference for my future play there..
RFBL is pretty sweet at Wynn, enjoy! Oh and for limo ride ask for the Rolls Royce :D
Hi hlaburg and yes RFBL is so sweet at Wynn :)
Since I never win, I would definitely call that a win! Thanks for this information.
Thanks zeus, yes I can say the same thing!

Riversong, you got some great play and based on your points I predict you'll be styling at Wynn in your future. I think I averaged 7K/day for my stay... and lost big time. I scored the RR on my ride home :)

I heard back from my host at Wynn and he's going to comp me 3 nights April 24-27 even though I haven't played there in 2 1/2 years. Within minutes of him getting back to me I got a confirmation email for my stay and room requests. Meeting some work friends and likely going to see Amy Schumer at Cosmo Friday night!

I found the machines very tight at Wynncore but loved the hotel first time staying at Encore. Got offers to stay there again but not sure how much I will gamble there.

I got around 20,800 points on my Wynn red card for my 3 day trip. I'm hoping for some better offers with freeplay too.

So based upon you bet size compared to mine, I would end up with maybe 5k.

We averaged 1700 pts/day for our 3 stays at Wynn. The free nights offer turned into discounted rates and a third night free.

It sounds like we are at about the same level of play then. Do you remember what the discounted rate was? Hopefully no more than $129.

Still not bad considering you give them that kind of play and still get an offer which includes a free night. A comparable Wynn/Encore room in any other city would be $350+

Our first offers were for 2 nts comped. After they saw we weren't showing whale like symptoms, we now get 2 nts at $129 and third night comped and $200 FP. You still get zinged for resort fees on all three nights though. Not quite good enough to get us there though.

Agree 100%. However, we get 3 nts comped and $75 FP from Palazzo and we love it there. Palazzo is #1 home base in Vegas for the foreseeable future. We also churn more coin-in at Venetian/Palazzo per visit.

That's almost 7k/day, for sure you'll see some nice offers coming your way!
