Hi, my name is Mike. My handle is DaiLun. I was invited to this board by Sassycat, whom I had the extreme pleasure to meet this past weekend at Harrahs Tahoe.
My main game is slots, with a specialty in Silver Strikes.
Silver Strikes are the $10 tokens that are distributed in special IGT Double Diamond machines. The machines are .25 Double Diamond and you must play maximum bet to be eligible for Silver Strikes
Nearly all casinos had them prior to 2009, but in 2009, IGT decided to end support and told the casinos to "buy 'em or turn 'em in when the lease is up".
Most casinos turned them in, but a few remain. There is a Silver Striker Club at www.silverstrikers.com .
The 6 casinos in Nevada and 1 in Colorado (Johnny Nolon's) The casinos in Las Vegas that still have them are:
Four Queens (8 machines)
El Cortez (1 machine)
Mirage (2 machines)
Venetian (1 machine)
Palazzo (1 machine)
Sam's Town (1 machine)
The Four Queens is the unofficial HQ of the Silver Strikers club
Originally, the center of a Silver Strike was between .5 and .6 ozt (troy oz.) of .999 fine silver. In 2009, when silver prices started to climb clad strikes were introduced. They look the same as the original silver strikes, except the centers are silver plated brass.
Prior to 2009, you could exchange 20 $10 strikes for a $200 strike which was 1 lb. (12 ozt.) of .999 silver. In 2009, the casinos that kept the strike machines changed over to $300 strikes (trade for 30 clad) that were only 6 ozt. of silver.
The Four Queens issues new $300 strikes 4 times a year (limited to 148 available to the public), and those are 4 times a year that I am definitely in Las Vegas. They issue them in January, St. Patrick's Day, June, and Halloween.
There are also "special" strikes issued and put into the machines at that time.
For more information, check out the webpage www.silverstrikers.com or feel free to ask me.
OK, back to me. I live In San Jose, CA. I am a CET 7* member whose home casino in LV is Caesars Palace, but locally I frequent Harrahs/Harvey's Lake Tahoe and Harrahs Reno.
I am Asian-American, divorced and my 89 year old father and 14 year old son live with me, so my time for gambling is very limited. My trips are frequent and short. I look forward to participation on this board.
Welcome to the forum! I remember playing Silver Strike at Four Queens and didn't realize their was a big follow, pretty cool!

I've seen you around on VMB for awhile, and I am very happy that Sassy told you about us. It's great to get to know you and hopefully you will enjoy it here as much as we do!
Thanks so much for sharing the info on Silver Strike. I knew it had a following, but I didn't really understand the extent of it. I'll be paying more attention next time I am at 4 Queens, and will give it a go if the timing is right.
Hope to run into you in Vegas one of these days!

Hi Dailun. I'm glad you joined this forum. I've enjoyed following your slotting adventures on VMB. I hope you'll post a summary of your quest for Seven Stars here as I think the members here would enjoy hearing about it very much.

Mirage has two at the back near the mLife booth. They are themed Terry Fator.
Palazzo has them in the main aisle as you head towards the room elevators on your left side.
Venetian has one, but they keep moving it.

I don't have a pic but easy to spot.
Standard 3 older reel IGT slot with a display on the side with some tokens in it. The token cases are color coded for real silver or clad. I don't remember what colors are which though.

I think last I got one was 4Queens, probably 2008 lol. I can't recall hit frequency but I was wondering how often they had to refill them.
I'll try to drag one out this week for a pic.
I'm sure the OP has answers

The machines are standard Double Diamond with standard Double Diamond payout odds. The Silver Strike counts as a $10 jackpot.
That being said, I have gotten 4 strikes in 8 pulls, and then nothing for $50 or $60.
However, you do earn comp points on these slots.

Clear = clad
Blue - Colorized clad
Red = .999 silver

touche22, please be aware that after 2009, only red cap strikes have .999 silver content.
Red and blue caps are only available 4 times a year. The Wednesday before a $300 distribution, and they're usually gone a week afterward.
If you just "want one" that is silver, you can find them all over eBay for <$20
Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to more of your posts.

Is this a silver strike coin?

Casino: Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino
There is also a Non-silver version of that strike

But, as you can see in the lower picture, the .999 FINE SILVER is present.

Welcome Dallun! I have been collecting these since I started going to Vegas. Every casino used to have them. I still try to get at least one or two per trip. I wish they would bring them back to more places. Where in the Venetian is the machine located? I don't remember seeing one there.
