I've always wanted to ask this question but never had the balls too on SF because I know some peeps would be offended. How do you calculate your bankroll for a trip/visit.. In my case, if I'm going to the local and only the local for a few hours, I like to have a minimum of $500.00 to play.. A weekend trip to Foxwoods, I like to bank on at least $2500.00 per day..

What do you all do and if you don't lose day ones bankroll, do you add it to day 2?

Thanks,

BD..:)

With Me Its about how much i can come up with after bills and parts for my little shop .Usually about 2 k for a 3 or 4 day trip . when we get to the hotel i divide it by how ever many day were gonna be there .If i run out its room time till the next day and fresh BR

I don't really have any method to my madness at all. I usually try to limit myself to 1500-2k per day on Vegas trip all depends on how good I did on previous trips and hopefully can atleast come home even at worst. I would be come home even this last trip if I shut it down before trying for that last day handpay dammit.

So much per day ( sometimes with envelopes) and utilizing the hotel room safe LOL

It doesn't matter where I go, it's usually $200-$300 per day/visit. I will do envelopes for multiple day trips, but in KC that went out the door and I was using the next days envelopes daily...oops! Sometimes I will take more, like Charlie, whatever is left over at the end of the month as play $$. While I have a decent job, I'm a man of limited means as I have quite a few other expenditures on my plate to take care of first. My bankroll would make some people fidget, but you make do with what you got!

If I go on a one nighter my BR is usually in the $300-$400 range. Then I multiply that by however many nights I am staying if it is longer than one for the total amount of that trip. I'm a medium roller I would say. Sometimes I will play max, but more often than not I will just stay in the medium bet range. Talking about penny machines of course. On the 3 reel dollar machines I usually play max.

I break my total bankroll up evenly over the number of days of my trip. I always take more money than I'm actually willing to lose though. I always want (need) to bring some home so I can say that I didn't lose it all. I know this is silly but it works for me. My daily bankroll at my local (Cherokee) is less than my Vegas bankroll. Despite doing well there last weekend I'm not willing to spend a large portion of my annual gambling budget there.

LOL i sorta have the same mentality but like to have extra along just incase if goes horribly bad.
yeah i dont take nearly the same gambling budget for a few hour trip at a local even if it is an overnighter which is not common unless i go take ameristar up on it or something at council bluffs

I did this the last two trips and ended up coming home with a big fat goose egg! It def. was horribly bad. Took two trips off my year unless something gets going again.

I'm glad you brought this up, always interests me.

I always am curious about the bankroll needed to play high limit games for a reasonable amount of time, so glad to see the answers.

For me bankroll depends on where I go, how much freeplay, etc. If I'm going to a local usually $400 is enough for me unless it goes really bad. I usually bet about $1 to $1.50 per spin on average. I just did a 3 day trip to Vegas but only played at local casinos that I know are looser and $800 was more than enough for me for the entire trip, and I came home with most of it. If it's the Vegas strip, I'll need more like $800 per day with the tight slots, and that often isn't enough.

I did a 4 day trip to Reno last fall and only brought $500 and a positive attitude, and it was more than enough, and I came home with a $1000 profit so it definitely depends on how tight or loose the place is!

Such a good question and sadly not one I've mastered except I plan my spend much differently depending on if I go to a NA local for a fun afternoon v an overnight trip to a destination casino.

I look at destination visits in terms of total spend, hard to articulate but my goal is to spend no more than a certain amount over my stay. That doesn't calculate so well to BR that I bring. My target loss for a destination visit staying multiple days is 2 grand, which includes room, food, entertainment and gambling.

Of course I always hope to beat that and come home on the plus side but I never count on that haha!

Great Answers So Far Everyone..:) Would love to hear more.. My biggest problem is that I don't do the envelope thingy, never have but need to start somehow.. I have a tendency to dig into the following days bankroll on my first night looking for that Hail Mary.. Sometimes it happens but most of the time it doesn't..

I allow myself $100.00 per day for a big trip. If I win, that is added to the next day. I make sure I have other things to do if I lose quickly.

I don't play at locals so it's always on a trip and I plan on 1k to 1.5k a day depending on which casino I'm staying at and if I have plans to play with friends in the HL room. If I'm mainly losing on a day with little play I will quit before that day's bankroll is gone and go out and do something else with friends or if I'm in bitter gambler mode I will go up to my room and watch a movie, LOL!

If I'm going to a destination for several days I like to have $800 to $1,000 a day. If I'm going to local I like to have $500 but lately I have had to lower it to $300.

I usually count 1k - 2k per day because all my trips are destinations, no locals here. If I win nothing on my first night, I dip into next day. If a losing trip, last day I take it all and go for hail mary. If I do have a winning trip, and I make all my bank roll, I put that in the safe for next trip and play with remainder BR for the rest of trip. If I don't win my br amount, I play whatever wins I do have away. At home I will squeeze a nickel till it screams but when gambling, totally degen.

My plan in theory is to spend an allotted amount per day. However, when I get to the casino that goes out the window and I go ape shit crazy. I, like charlie50 and CPT, take whatever is left after bills etc. I've had to decrease my slotting recently so I try to low roll and enjoy the suite or room. I won't be able to do LV this year and only a few trips to locals (Coushatta/L'aunerge). It is what it is...responsibilities come first.

It's been awhile, but most of our visits aren't trips, rather like a visit to the local, where we take $150 each. The plastic is left in the truck, so we have time to talk each other out of going to get it and making the WOS.

Our trips are never longer than 2 nights, and usually just one. The BR is the same for each day, and we tend to stick to it pretty well. I seem to lose like crazy the first night, and do pretty well the next.

DH supplies our normal bankroll.. Which is roughly $2000 per person per 3 day trip. I supplement mine with a secret stash of 1000 to 1500. It really isn't secret as he knows I do it.. But it is money I try and put away from other casino trips. I don't take all my cash with me and hope the walk to the room changes my luck if a I am losing. I play most of my winnings back unless it is a hand pay and I have to fess up to DH. He plays craps for hours but rarely Looses big and once I. A while has a nice big win. He loves sports betting so hangs out in the sports book bar while I slot away.

This had me lol'ing as my mom holds the money for my parents trips but I know my dad has a secret stash!

For us we aren't deciplined, if we're having fun, we'll get more money out since we don't bring a lot and the atm limits are what caps our bankroll.
For a local visit, 2-300 max (sometimes we lose $50 and stop because it's not fun so we'll go to dinner or something) no atm visits there, but trips, we just want to have fun! We also cap limits based on prior trips, so one weekend it may be $400 bankroll, another weekend $900, it really depends!

This sounds disciplined to me!

I'm reckless once let loose on the slot floor. No envelopes just sheer determination and stupidity that it will work out in my favor

Interesting topic. I don't think you should have had any reservations about asking the question. Anyone who doesn't want to answer won't.

I'm incredibly anal about our "system", such as it is. We budget $500-600 a day initially and might move it up closer to $1,000 nearer the end of a trip - when the shopping fund is safe!

It may seem weird or less fun to some but we keep a note of everywhere and everything we play, primarily for trip reports and video notations.

We also "bank" every win. No winnings ever go back into a machine. A walk of shame is never an option - like Diana, we've always got plenty of other stuff we can do if the gambling isn't working.

Sharon and I are not high rollers, most bets are a dollar a spin or less, but we play for at least 12 hours a day and need around $500.00 a piece each day.

That amount includes food, drinks, and tips, so not really sure how much we actually spend gambling.

We try to to keep that $500.00 each in daily envelopes, but it has never worked yet lol.

1. Locals (racetrack slots only) $200-$1000 Distance 15-30 min drive

2. CasinoRama amd Fallsview (slot and tables) $400-$1000 Willing to take out another $800 Distance 1.5 hour drive

3. Vegas 7 days Usually like to take $3000. No budget, no breakdown, we play what we want and when we want. (Walk of hope possible but never needed)

4. Bahamas Atlantis 5 days usually take $3000. Same as vegas just play with no worries. (5 trips 2 walks of hope needed)

I pay cash for food, tips, shows, and even shopping. So if I lose $3000 on a trip its not really $3000.

Hubby and I usually bring $400-500 total for an overnighter to our "local" Foxwoods. If we aren't doing an overnighter, we only bring $2-300. We try not to go to the ATM if we lose but will from time to time (very rarely). Foxwoods is 3 hours from home so if it's a blood bath quick, we don't always want to drive right back home. But sometimes we do lol.

Our Vegas bankroll is usually higher and like slotmanjack, we have a set amount we are willing to lose and just play when we want to. We usually bring 2k for 3 nights.

dont you charge to room 1st then see what host can comp off on the back end?? That is the way to do it since they have discretion usually and depending on play you are probably paying up front for food that you could be getting compd. Maybe you do this already.

For vegas we eat all over the place so we just pay cash. My upfront 7 days julius tower comp plus $100 food and some free play is good enough for me. I don't expect anymore and I dont play enough to warrant anymore than that.

As for Bahamas I do charge everything on the room except for cab and tips. Last trip I had alot of upfront comp but since we were in full degenerate mode we got everything comped except for federal tax. $17 a day I think.
