Changes to the Grazie Gold Lounge and Platinum Room

I was staying at Palazzo during the week of St. Patrick's day and playing in the Venetian HL room when I noticed the Gold lounge was closed at 11pm. I asked one of the slot attendants about it and this is what he had to say about upcoming changes to both the Grazie Gold Lounge and Platinum VIP lounge at Palazzo. I don't know this for a fact but he sure acted like he knew what he was talking about.

Starting around April 4th or so the Platinum VIP lounge at Palazzo will only have food from 6am until 9pm at night instead of 24 hours as in the past. It will be open 24 hours a day for drinks and VIP reservation.

The Gold Lounge at Venetian will have drinks but no more food in the offering. I hope he is wrong about his and they at least have fruit or cookies. According to the employee I spoke to there are too many gold members and a lot of them have been eating all their meals in there so it's been costing Venetian too much money and this is there way of putting a stop to that. He said at some point in the future when there are less Gold members (not sure if he meant because they will be making changes to the number of points needed or what) they may go back to having food in there at that point.

We'll see if what I was told is accurate but during my stay they already went to the new hours for food at the Platinum lounge at Palazzo so some of it at least is correct.

Thanks for the report Diana. Honestly, I can't imagine people eating all their meals in the Gold Lounge! I've only visited a few times and if I remember correctly, there was really only crackers, cheese and cookies offered?

The gold lounge had a daily soup, finger sandwiches with ham, roast beef, etc..fruit, cookies, cheese and crackers, and sometimes a salad. I agree it's not where I would want to take all my meals.

Most locals or so I have been told don't gamble on the strip that much so I suspect it was just the sheer amounts of Gold members they have since a few years ago they lowered the points to make Gold to 20k. If this change is indeed implemented I think it will save them from also having the employee stationed at the gold lounge door checking to see if the cards and ID's match up to enter.

I don't think the changes as far as no food in the Gold Lounge takes place until April 4th. However you could check with a Gold Lounge attendant and see if the confirm the future change. :)

Yeah, there was still food in there this past weekend (3/26/2016). My Aunt and I had "breakfast" there. (Croissant, cheese and coffee)

The employee that told me about these changes in March hinted to me that it would eventually morph into a VIP lounge again with food but I guess not for gold level. Of course they can't do that for a while so who knows they might change their minds again.

I like the lounges to get a little better drink than on the floor, a snack a quiet place to sit for a bit enjoying the drink and then go back and play. Cet has better lounges snacks and a lot more people in them than I have ever noticed in the Gold Lounge so I doubt they spent much on food since they put out very little. At the very least they could keep the cookies and cheese and crackers...Why even have Gold if there is no perks. This makes me rethink where I want to have a premium card or if I do.

We're assessing the same thing right now. It's starting to feel like our level of play is not keeping up with the comps we've earned in the past. I doubt we'll get 3 nts in the future even though our daily play increased slightly this trip. We can't get small room charges comped off this trip, hadn't been a problem in the past. Linda just said she's perfectly happy at Bally's. I guess we'll see what our offers are going forward.

Honestly, once Outback Jack is removed that may be my cue to leave too

I think you're right. They are so busy with all the conventions they have booked that it has allowed them to rework their Grazie program and weed out some of the bottom feeders (like me). I couldn't get resort fees removed even though it was a comped stay (first time that's happened).

We're not gonna increase our play, were value players and will just take what we can get. If V\P has raised their bar, we'll just mosey down the Strip again.

Truthfully, I'd be perfectly happy if they raised the level to reach Gold. Compared to other properties, it is almost too easy to achieve Gold, and Gold actually has (had?) some decent benefits unlike CET platinum, Mlife Pearl, etc. Whatever they are doing, and it seems the phasing out of the Gold Lounge is the tip of the iceberg, I hope they do it soon as the not knowing is the annoying part to me.

Hmmm, not sure if she just got the boot because all she had was gold level players, there could have been work performance issues she didn't want to share. However there is no more Gold Lounge, it's now called the High Limit Lounge.

I agree with you they made it to easy to reach gold (my Mom the low roller made it in 3 days a week ago) and once gold it was really easy to get it the following year due to extra points. In comparison to CET where you have to be Diamond to get access to their lounges, the Venetian Gold room was quite the deal for all these years.

I was at Palazzo a week ago and for what's it worth this is what one of the men at the Palazzo Player Club's desk had to say about the changes. The locals were making gold and some were taking all their meals in the gold lounge, so changes were supposedly driven more by their local gamblers then tourists, at least that's what he claimed. He didn't have a explanation for the changes in the Platinum room other then if members complain they might change back. This may be true, if no one complains they will leave the new changes in place, if a lot of Platinum members speak up it's possible they will return to how it was previously. Previously I hadn't heard it was their locals driving some of the changes.

The man also said that things might change in the Venetian HL lounge in the future as far as putting food out again but for now the high rollers can order meals in there and charge it to their room for their host to remove. Not sure why someone would want to eat in the lounge over a restaurant or room service, but okay.

Not sure if this will come to pass but he also said that in the future they will be changing the amount of tier credits for gold to a higher number, he threw out 50k but who knows as he said that might not happen until next year. I would hope if they raise the amount of points to make Gold they would once again have a lounge for those members, but it's just a guessing game at this point.

Not a rumor but someone I know who works in the hotel management end of things has told me that renovations to Palazzo rooms starts in September. That person has seen the mock ups and says they are very light and bright and complements the Venetian rooms but just a little brighter. They will be doing a few hundred rooms a week.

Also no summer grazie gift show this year, which I imagine will save them money. Personally I always went for this event each summer and I'm really sad the penny pinchers have cut it out, but then business is booming and I guess some things won't return unless business gets tight again.

I don't think my host is there anymore either. I now get offers and emails with another host name and info on it. I also looked on their site and his pic isn't there anymore. For the short time I've had him, he was great. He always took care of all my room charges without me asking and always followed up with me. I don't charge a lot but that was always nice. Hopefully this new host is like him. These new changes sucks!!

After reading all these updates, seems the writing is on the wall for us. Probably time to for us to dump V/P (they're probably dumping us) and hitch our wagon to CET and maybe an off-Strip property for a while.
