Hey slotbender , I know you got very beat at Hollywood, but if you want to meet some Saturday for some buffet before the end of
May, let me know. I'd make the drive for free mediocre food and $20!

CPT That would make a nice little meet-up Kenny! I appreciate your thought on this but I'm not sure if I'll be able to meet up because my plate is pretty much full at the moment. My Mother has been out of skilled nursing and back into her home for about 2 weeks now and I've been busy going back and forth from my home to hers a few times per day to take care of cooking, laundry, (those home health aides use alotta towels & wash rags) shopping, visiting, talking/seeing visiting nurses & physical/occupational therapy people etc.. I think it's time now for me to bring in Hospice care so I just set up a meeting with them on Friday (22nd) to discuss further care for my Mother in her home, (Mothers wishes - to be at home). But if anything changes between now & the end of May I'll be sure to let you (& everyone else here) know. I've already mentioned to my brother that I'll be needing a nice long vacation to Las Vegas, Tahoe, (or both) etc. once after my need is done here.

Good luck with mom and you do deserve a long vacation! I'll keep it in the event you get some free time and may use it like a degenerate before it expires otherwise. Thanks for checking with us! :)

Update: I'm sorry to say that My Mother passed away this morning while I was there at her home. The good part is that she didn't suffer, she just quietly stopped breathing while I (and a nurse) was at her bedside. It's also good to say that she made it to 97 years of age, was a WW2 veteran and had lived a full life. It's been a bit hectic for me so far today with arranging things but I have been ready for this to happen for quite some time. So, I'll be in touch with you Kenny and probably about the 1st week of May we can meet-up so that you can collect on that free buffet & slot play : )

slotbender, what a long and wonderful life! I know that does not make it easier because that was your mom, but what a blessing that she did not suffer. You are a good man and wonderful son for the way you took care of her.

I want to thank you all for your very kind words of support. But I now feel relieved in a way that it all had happened the way it did while (at the same time) a heavy burden has been lifted off my shoulders. I hope that some of you can understand this? Now, I can resume with my life after 10 years of putting it on hold.

Sounds like she was an amazing woman. The way you have taken care of her and have been such a caring, responsible son is a tribute to the kind of mother she was. So very sorry for your loss. You deserve your trip. I'll be following along. Good luck in Tahoe!

Slotbender -- First we are sorry for your loss. Sure as hell hope I make it to 97. Also, we totally understand the putting life on hold thing when caring for the elderly. We went through similar thing for 5 years with Cathy's folks. It's just the way life is.

So sorry for your loss. I too know what it's like to take care of a parent in decline. I'm so glad she died peacefully like my dad did. She was lucky to have a son like you.

Likewise Gene! Looking forward to it buddy! : ) I'm also planning to go to Vegas for 10 days after leaving Tahoe. I'll be booking everything in about 2 weeks. My flight will be out of Raleigh because I'm moving down to Wake Forest, NC. at the end of May. I'd move sooner but I need to stick around here for about a month to take care of any loose ends.

So sorry for your loss, but yes, I also understand about the feelings of relief & being grateful that she didn't suffer. You went above & beyond in your care for your mom, and I'm sure she appreciated it even if she may not have always said so (not saying she didn't just extrapolating from some of my relatives).

Thank you for the very kind words MNvegasgal (& all Jokers). So far, I have all of the funeral arrangements made. Viewing at the funeral home will be on Monday and there will be a Catholic church mass on Tuesday followed by the burial ceremony at Fort Indian Town Gap (Military Cemetery). She will be receiving full military honors with a bugler playing Taps, (playing Taps - one of her final wishes).

And I hope to see your name added to the AC M&G list so I finally get to meet you.

CPT Horrorwood in Grantville got me again today for another $2,500 playing VP. It seems that they are just too hungry for $$. This was the toothpick that broke the camel's back for me. So, I had spent all of my accumulated comp dollars on smokes before leaving and told 2 of their employees how very dissatisfied I am with their casino & that they won't be seeing me anymore. Sorry Kenny, it looks like I won't be meeting you there if you go. Believe me when I tell you, their buffet food is average (at best) and their machine pays really suck so you're not missing anything.

Oh no! Well you aren't telling me nothing, unless things have changed. Which it certainly doesn't sound like it did. I'm going to meet a buddy from YouTube in Reading one of these weekends, I may just stop on the way and eat the mediocre food, play the $20, and be on my way! Next time you get a weird itch to go, you tell me first and I'll tell you no! Hehe

Don't worry about me getting an itch for Horrorwood. Once I close the door on something it stays closed : )

slotbender, I'm very sorry for the loss of your Mom.

Hope you can come to AC in July. I think you would enjoy the Borgata a lot. They have some great VP machines to choose from. My favorite place for VP in AC. Also very good food selections. Hope to meet you someday.

Thank you Reen . I did stay & play (VP) at The Borgata during the M&G last year. Sadly, I didn't do that well there. I had gotten a $2,400 hp but they took it back plus more in quick fashion : (

slotbender, I am so sorry I didn't see this before but I wanted to give you my sincere condolences on the loss of your Mom. She must have been an amazing woman, having served our country, raised a family and lived such a long life. Oh, the things she must have seen! You are a wonderful son, and I am sure you have been a huge comfort to her, especially in her last years. What a blessing that she went so peacefully, with you by her side. God bless you both.
