I am one of the lurkers! I love the forum, but am just a bit shy. More of an observer, for sure! I hope I can make it to 10 posts.....I have to live out my Vegas dreams vicariously through you all until my youngest son is a bit older and we can leave him for a trip to our fave spot! I am already going through withdrawals not being able to read the trip reports. HHH

StephanieA, there has never been anybody more shy to join a forum as I was. It took me forever to stop lurking and to make a post. It has truly brought me out of my shell. Now I have a feeling they all wish I would just shut up. [emoji4]

Denver is amazing! We moved here 8 yrs ago from Seattle. I miss the water in Seattle, but lots of other stuff to do here.

Best concert venue is def Red Rocks...make sure to ck it out. Tons of good craft breweries (although I prefer vodka - hhh). Breckinridge Brewery is one of my dh faves. We do have a cool gambling town in the mountains. Slots can be super tight most days, but still really fun!

Thx to all for helping me get my post count up!

My 17 yr old daughter and I are flying into Denver Wed for a week of Rocky Mountain fun. 5 days in Estes Park then 2 night in Blackhawk (Ameristar). Blackhawk looked like the best place to stay to do a rafting trip down Clear Creek. Probably not much slotting obviously, but casinos are usually the best places to stay as they have tons on amenities lol.

If you have any advice on things a 17 yr old might like, just post 'em up. Thanks

Great info! We bought a place in the Golden Triangle a few years ago. I heard Red Rocks was excellent.. Would love to see Jackson Brown or Eric Church there. My daughter lives in Denver and is a big fan of Hops and Pies. We will have to check out the mountain gambling next non work trip. Thanks for the great info.

Ameristar is definitely the best hotel in Black Hawk - good choice. Your daughter will love the roof top pool. But not a ton of other non-gambling stuff in Black Hawk. The town itself is neat....most of the casinos are in old gold mining buildings. They've kept those pretty historic, on the outside, at least. Rafting on Clear Creek is amazing! If you have time, try to take a day trip to Vail. It's only a couple of hours away from Black Hawk and worth checking out.

Estes Park is always fun....small town, so not a ton to do there, but RMNP is amazing. Are you going into Denver at all? Check out the 16th Street Mall if you do. Lots of shops, restaurants and other fun stuff to check out, things a 17 yr old girl would love.

Hiking/sightseeing in RMNP is the main attraction for us. Not really doing Denver at the moment but you know how things can change. She wanted to see the Macklemore concert Sunday night but not really interested in knocking a night off Estes to do it and not driving back there in the middle of the night. Gonna check out Univ of CO but out of state tuition is crazy high. Will keep 16th St Mall in mind, thanks!

I have had the pleasure of meeting a good percentage of the folks that belong to the forum, and will get to meet even more at the AC M&G in July, and I have to tell you that I never thought that a group of folks that I met on the internet could become such great friends and such a big part of my life. These folks are the most fun, caring, giving people that truly have a great time when we get together. Whether it is at a M&G or just bumping in to each other in Vegas or another destination. It truly is a community here.

I am from the DFW area and local is Winstar, which I go to once a month. I go to Beau Rivage on junket x2 per year. I just returned from LV staying at Aria in April to celebrate my granddaughter's 21st birthday. What a blast we had. Headed to Vegas this weekend for 4 days.

I'm still here in Seattle. Miss the rain?

Hello to all of the new posters! It wasn't too long ago that I was mostly a lurker. It's hard to make that first post and start sharing but I'm sure that all of you will find this to be an incredibly welcoming community. It's really fun to share our love for gambling and have others following along on our gambling adventures. To those of you still lurking and scared to post - just do it!

Hello New Members!

We have a new rule in place where certain forums now require you to make at least 10 posts before viewing. The forums are: Wins & Trips, Meet and Greet, and Prize Upgrade Zone. Once you make 10 posts, you will gain access to those forums.

Thanks!

I used to work close to the Golden Triangle, but am now in the middle of downtown. You were smart (lucky) to buy in that area before the real estate boom in Denver happened!

We were very lucky. My daughter moved out to Denver to work 3 years ago and was struggling finding reasonable places to live. We knew we wanted to retire in Denver so we looked at 5 places in 5 areas in one day, .. and put in an offer that day. We lucked out.. as she and a room mate have been paying the mortgage, while we pay the HOA's and the upkeep. We are going to try City Living.. if it doesn't work out for us.. we should be able to sell for a nice profit. (Sorry- didn't mean to Hijack the thread.. but also didn't want to leave StephanieA2531 hanging.

Suze - I am from the Chicago area but we do go to Four Winds every now and then. Out of all the casinos in the Chicago/Indiana/Michigan area, Four Winds is our favorite but takes the longest to get to (usually a little under 2 hours, depending on traffic and construction.) It definitely feels like we are on vacation when we are there!

Just popping in to say that the reason for the minimum post count is to encourage folks to join the community. That means sharing and participating. We love to meet new people but some of our regular posters are uncomfortable having so many strangers reading all about them while hiding in the shadows. If it seems people are just reaching 10 posts and going back to lurking, it defeats the purpose and we will have to look at other alternatives.

So please, introduce yourselves and join in! And a big thanks to those that have taken the time to introduce themselves so far!

Hi Blase - I am in the city, on the north side. I think you had some phenomenal wins at Four Winds a little while ago (or maybe I'm thinking of someone else?). Never won a lot there but love the machine variety and the hotel rooms. I don't know why, but I can play for hours and never win anything until about midnight.

I know I am late in doing so, but I wanted to give you my condolences on the passing of your Mother. I could tell from your posts that she was a beautiful and special woman.

Hi Cynthia! I'm in Colorado, but DH and I may be heading to Taos for a mini vacation later this summer. Are there any casinos around that area? Or, is Albuquerque the closest? When we went to AZ, we weren't big fans of the casinos in that area. Especially the fact that most were $.02 machines. Is it like that in New Mexico too? Thanks for the info!

Am not Cynthia, but am sort of a NM slot junkie lol. There are NA casinos on every Pueblo you drive through - all Class III machines, all have free self serve soft drinks and immaculate restrooms and yes, I have donated to just about every one of them HHH..Right outside the Taos Pueblo is Taos Mountain casino, a tiny little thing in a prefab building but a nice snack bar! As you head south towards Santa Fe there is the Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo casino, one of my favorites, then keep heading toward Santa Fe and you'll be at Buffalo Thunder Golf Resort and Casino managed by Hilton - it's really an impressive property, could go on and on but won't bore you right off the bat lol- will try to dig up some pics from last fall though - welcome to the Jokers!

Thanks everyone! Moemoe is correct, Taos only has a small casino but it's non-smoking, so there's that. If you drive another hour or so south, you'll get to Espanola, where you'll find a couple more casinos and then heading further south toward Santa Fe, you'll find 3 more casinos, the best of which is Buffalo Thunder. That's a beautiful property with a Hilton hotel, a great fine dining restaurant and a large casino with a wide range of slots. Plus, a golf course!

NM casinos have huge amounts of penny machines, Stephanie. You'll find a small amount of dollar machines but hardly any $.02, $.05, or even quarter machines.

Most casinos have tables games. Because they are all NA casinos, there is no alcohol on the gaming floors, although most casinos do have a bar but you cannot take drinks out of the bar. You can have all the soft drinks you'd like, however! [emoji14]

I'm in Albuquerque, which has the largest casinos since it's the population center for the state. I've got 4 fairly large casinos within a 20 minute drive of my home, which, as we all know, can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the slot gods! [emoji848]. They're all good about offering decent free play, food offers, and free room offers.

Chimayo in the fall is gorgeous, northern NM is definitely the prettiest part of my state!

My personal opinion is that this is not a "rule", even though worded that way. It's merely a suggestion to introduce yourself so we know who is at least reading our posts. I know there are a few people of my "past" who swore me off, but continued to view this forum almost daily since inception. So it's simple, either tell us who you are and that you are here or..

I've been a member of this forum for over a year but have never actually introduced myself. I'm definitely more of a lurker than a poster but do enjoy posting on the game type threads such as counting to 777 and one word name change. I live in Pensacola FL so my local gambling destination is Biloxi which is about 1.5 hours from my front door to the Beau. We also go to New Orleans once or twice a year and just got back from Tunica MS which is about a 7 hour drive for us. We went to Vegas in April and am seriously thinking about going back for Halloween if we can find some decent airfare and a bankroll. Have also gambled in Atlantic City, Reno, Laughlin, Lake Tahoe, the Hard Rock in Tampa, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun so think we've hit just about all the major gambling destinations in America. We also gambled in Niagara Falls, Canada. It's been so long ago I don't remember the name but it was within walking distance of the Falls. I work for the U.S. Navy and lived in Spain from 2010 to 2013 so also did some gambling in Europe - Spain, Gibraltar, Italy and Germany. You would think with all that gambling I could say I've hit several hand pays but unfortunately that's not the case. I've only had 3 hand pays in almost 20 years of gambling and six or seven royal flushes at quarter denom. Hope I didn't go overboard with the introduction [emoji12]

Welcome to all new posters. I am not a big poster but now that I have entered the 21st century and gotten a smart phone who knows. I do know that I have met so many wonderful people here. Some in person and some just through posting. This thread was a great idea CPT.

While I may not like the 10 post rule,I understand why it was instituted. Having lurked on this site ( an others ) without ever posting I am amazed at what people share. I will try to join in mainly because I have enjoyed reading your posts and have learned a lot from them.

Don't have to "like" it, but you gotta follow it.

And I'm glad you did teach! It's nice to "meet" people and get to know each other doing what we like to do - gamble.

I don't see why anyone would want to just read strangers' posts and not comment. It's not hard to say "congrats" or "great TR."

I'm hoping all the lurkers that came out of hiding continue to contribute.

CPT I just came across these 10 post rule posts.

I think it a good and fair rule. Nothing oppressive or burdensome. It just feels good to have some interaction on a casual basis in a very limited sense if that is how one chooses to participate. But the casualness is not without meaning - the minimal expectation might be that the interaction is genuine and that does seem to be too much to ask for.

Thank you

Stayed at Taj, Bally's then back to Taj when flight was cancelled. We are low rollers and we (especially me) bounce from machine to machine. Mainly penny video machines but I'm starting to lean toward quarter reels because I truly can't stand the terrible paybacks on new video machines (Britney, Game of Thrones, etc) Glad to see it for AC. Never had problems with Spirit before, but this time was horrific. Their customer service is beyond terrible.

Hi again, need to get to 10 posts. Yesterday DH and I went to Soboba Casino in San Jacinto CA. It is in a tent but has 2000 slots and pretty good payouts. I bet 40 cents on Atlantis and got the Super Bonus for 15 spins. On the second spin the X5 and another X came out and gave me $432.00--13 next spins only gave me $7 for a total bonus of $439. Was pleasantly surprised and couldn't believe a 40 cent bet could pay that much.

Hi player, sounds like a fun visit to Soboba (I love saying that - Soboba, Soboba, Soboba - haha). I enjoy hearing about the different casinos around the country and how unique some of them are. I've never been to SoCal (well except for airport layovers which don't count) but really hope to get out there one of these days to see the beautiful scenery and to check out some casinos. And to meet some of our amazing jokers that live in the area :)

Thanks for posting and I hope you will keep sharing your casino experiences with us!

Hi Jokers.....I have been a lurker for quite awhile now....this forum is just the best I have ever read, such fun people on here. So I am going to try to get enough posts to be able to continue reports. Some background, I am from Indiana, recently retired Kindergarten/Preschool Director.....husband is a retired Firefighter. Since retiring we are able to go gambling whenever we want instead of having to get time off work. The closest
local casino to us is Firekeepers in BattleCreek Michigan. BlueChip Casino in Michigan City is not much further. Our closest
CET casino is Caesars Windsor...2 1/2 hours away. We actually got our passports so we could keep going there. This helps to keep my Diamond status which we like for extra perks like Diamond lounges etc. when we are able to take our annual trip to Vegas. We had a junket to Tunica planned for just last week but Caesars has decided not to fly to Tunica anymore so we lost out on that.....always liked the free junkets....unfortunately there are not too many from Fort Wayne. Hoping to make it to my 10 posts so I can stay a part of the Jokers!!

[emoji20] I hope that they will start back up for you or that they will start having some from an airport close to you. I agree with you on the Diamond Lounges. Great place to get away from the slots for awhile and relax. Luckily you do have Windsor. And your locals to get your slotting on!

Welcome Janecav! Congratulations on your retirement :triumphant: I'm glad you have come out to play with us. I sometimes envy the folks with locals that are close, but since I am not very disciplined it is just as well mine are 2 hours away. But I am Always envious of the people that can hop in their car or are a short flight from Vegas, even though I am not sure that would be a good thing for me.

It would be really cool if you could make it to the Horseshoe Hammond meet that the gang is planning for next month. There will be some real characters there for sure :D

Thanks.....my closest local is actually 1 1/2 hours away which is a good thing for me. I always say if I lived in a town with a casino my husband would always wonder about me when I left the house......it would be tough for me cause I too am not very disciplined when it comes to my slots! Wish I could make a meet someday....they always look like so much fun and everyone looks like they are very welcoming. My husband is having shoulder replacement surgery in a few weeks so we will not be going anywhere for awhile. He actually broke his arm/shoulder last summer when we were in Vegas...not our best trip!!

I know! I am loving the new slots. Have done better this year. I guess they finally paid off the construction. [emoji23]

Glad it worked! Only get a chance to play in Vegas. Favorite places include Cosmo, Wynn, V/P, and Bellagio. I like to record my slot games but some places are friendlier than others when it comes to recording... Wynn being the worst.

Wynn peeps got REAL upset with me a few years ago when they noticed me recording a buffalo bonus. They didn't care for me asking them questions either. Maybe that's why we don't stay there anymore lol

Its Cool that you like to record your play . i've never had an issue with any where I've taken pics .now recording is a different story .But i think you'll find that most places wont say much AS LONG as you are staying to your self at the machine that you are playing at and not getting others in your shot . a good friend of mine who's in the casino business told me that the casino he's at promotes the taking of pics and video . he looked at it this way.. people aren't taking pics of there losses they are taking pics of there Wins . what great and free publicity .

That sucks .. you would think they wouldn't mind as long as your not filming any thing else but your machine.

Your experience doesn't surprise me. They have a rather poor attitude. Have had a couple of bad experiences myself, so i wish i could boycott it like you have. Even cleaners and cocktail waitresses have taken on the role of video security to guard against recording. Unfortunately" it's a good place to play when you look past the irritations. I still record, but it needs to be on the down low, so footage can sometimes be shoddy and you're not relaxed.

Ha! If only they all thought the same way about recording. I've noticed that policies vary considerably up and down the strip. CET and Cosmo are pretty relaxed about it. Taking a pic is quick so its unlikely you will get caught. Video-ing is a different story.

I like to stay at Palazzo and Cosmo predominantly. I also stay at the Wynn or Bellagio, if I have an offer. The rooms at Bellagio are now begining to look a little dated though. However, i do like their casino environment. I'm generally not too picky about views as I don't spend alot of time in my room. I swear Vegas has fewer than 24 hours in a day, time just flies, and i like to make the most of my time there.
