Hi everyone, I'm Annie from SoCal and had to join in so I can continue to read the best forum ever. You guys have so much fun I love reading every morning with my coffee.

I chose my screen name because I'm old fashioned and still love to play the old fashioned reel slots, Double Diamond being my favorite (maybe because 8 of my 10 handpays have been on Double Diamond machines). The other 2 was the one and only time playing a 10X dollar, and a long awaited Quick Hits (hit 8 quick hits) on a max bet $3.00 for just over $5,700.

Thanks Foamy - unfortunately being old fashioned (and currently unemployed) I still only have a flip phone and although I can take pics with it, I can't do anything with the pics - no texting on my plan. But I want to continue to contribute to the forum, there's been so many times I've wanted to comment and now that I've jumped in I'll do so. BTW, I grew up camping - we belonged to a trailor club, so I love seeing your camping pics they bring back so many fun memories from my childhood.

Hello, Annie! So glad Ken made you come out of hiding. LOL! I am just teasing you. But am glad that you introduced yourself to us. I do have to say that once you do those first couple of posts you will be at 100 posts in no time! Congrats on your handys! I am trying more and more to play reels. I do see the better pays on them, but I just loved to be entertained with the video slots. And dang, 8 Quick Hits! I can never seem to get more than 4. Most of the time it is 1. :02.47-tranquillity: Welcome!

Thank you Mimi, Zeus and Sassycat.

Zues - yes I was very lucky getting 8 quick hits and the poor guy sitting next to me had just gotten off the machine. I felt so bad for him.

Sassycat - yes I occassionaly go to Harrah's Socal, but only one time have I done well there. About a month ago I spent 2 nights there and it started out just brutal, so I spent most of one day at Valley View and Pauma and broke even at both places. Luckily the second night at Harrah's hit a hot streak and came home with 90% of my bankroll. I went there again just for a few hours 2 weeks ago and won absolutely nothing.

Hi RiverSong, how funny on the name, I can now see why you thought that. Since I love play Double Diamonds I was going to use some variation of that for my name, but on one of the former boards a lot of you belonged to there were already so many like that already, so I picked the most common symbol of a lot of reel slots - bars. Although with this group I wouldn't doubt if a lot of you thought of the drinking type bar.

You're too nice barbarbar (I thought you were a fan of the cartoon elephant!) - I take great pleasure in lurking someone and would have likely looked across with such smug satisfaction that I'd have quickly been on the very wrong end of the second amendment!

Glad you're joining in. There genuinely isn't (not that I've found anyway) a more friendly bunch than the jokers - online or in person.

Cheers,

Billy

Thanks Wynnvegas (Billy), The guy looked so deflated but did congratulate me. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your journey to move to the U.S. I wish you both great luck.

I know this may sound creepy, but whenever I go to my locals I do look to see if I recognize anyone from this forum. Everyone seems so nice that if i did see someone I would probably approach them, or maybe walk by and say rather loudly Jokers Wild to see if I get a reaction.

TAB, the other thing I do is look for people taking pics or video's. Oddly I don't recall ever seeing that but offhand I'm not sure what our local NA policies are.

Funny story though about approaching someone. Several years ago I was at Pala Casino in SoCal and thought I saw an ex boyfriend sit down at a machine nearby. His looks, mannerisms, everything was exact. So I finished playing, went up behind him, put my arm over his shoulders and asked him if he was having any luck. He turned towards me and I realized it wasn't him. Then I saw a lady come barrelling towards me with a mean look - oh crap I think it was his wife. I must of turned 10 shades of red, apologized and said i thought he was someone else. The guy laughed - the woman not so much. So I think yelling "Jokers Wild" is the better option.

Thanks BBB,

Glad we're at the back end of it now. Not that we would have balked at the process had we known what we know now but it's been a bit of a roller coaster. Thankfully nothing too bad along the road.

It's that much easier joining in the forums and, in particular, making a trip report a few days before you go. That way, if people know where and when you're going, it's easy to arrange to meet up for a bit of a chat, a wee bit of co-op slot bashing or a meal. I'd bet that there isn't a week in Vegas where at least one of us isn't in town!

Cheers,

Billy

Hi Charlie, my 10 handpays took 20 years to get. Half at Soboba (east of Los Angeles towards Palm Springs - which never gets mentioned on forums I've read) and the others at Pala Casino, south of Los Angeles towards San Diego). Pala is my go to casino because I get free rooms there, but the last 3 years its been pretty bad. My last handpay was 2011 at Pala.

Thanks for the welcome. I get laughed at constantly when I whip out my flip phone, but for now until I get a job, I mainly just have it for emergencies. I love your avatar - I golf weekly with my sis and bil at a local par 3 course and hit the clubhouse afterwards.

Thanks - the great thing about that area is you can visit several other casinos within a short drive - Pechanga, Pala, Pauma and Valley View. I haven't made it to Barona yet as that is a bit further drive and getting to Harrah's is already a 1-1/2 to 2 hour drive for me depending on traffic.

Welcome to the forum, I'm in so cal too, although I gave up the locals to save my bankroll for destination trips, I used to love Soboba, they have a great selection of old Aristocrats that played pretty well!
