Hi All,
This is my report from our latest trip. We went May 21 - 29. So sad to be back.

Saturday May 21

We had a smooth flight from Pittsburgh without any issues. I love Southwest. We arrived, went to the Rental Center and picked up our car. We ended up getting a Chevy Equinox SUV.
We got 2 vouchers from Alamo from some kind of class action lawsuit so for 8 days it was around $235. I was glad for the vouchers as it would have been more than we a used to paying. I had wifi on the plane and decided to try the on-line check in at Ballys. I was hoping that we could check in on arrival and didn’t want to haggle over a room as we already had a king smoking strip view smoking in the Jubilee Tower which was fine with me. We were only staying 2 nights anyway.

Upon our arrival our friends from Iowa was there to greet us with smiling faces. Who wouldn’t be smiling, we are in VEGAS! Went to key pick up as I had never received my text. When I signed up it asked for the carrier of my phone. I have a Tracfone, LOL. Since it was not listed I just picked Verizon. I never received a text but our room was ready. Got the keys and dragged our suitcases up to the room. Our room was all the way at the end of the hall and directly across from Drai’s nightclub. Not only was the LONG walk annoying the first night it was windy and the windows made a loud “rattle” along with the lovely rap music coming from the nightclub. It may have well been in our room, LOL. And the slots there really sucked. Just really sucked. That is my Ballys review.

Moving on, It was the day of Preakness Steaks so we went to the sports book at Ballys and placed a bet. I bet the trifecta and boxed it. Two of my horses came in with the third coming in 4th. Dam. We got a MyVegas monorail pass and went up to Westgate. We did good gambling there and our friends had never been there and I wanted to check out their new sports book. Really awesome, really. Slotted around for a while and spotted a $1 pinball machine that we had a few hits on last year. Put in a $20 and it hit 2 doubles and a red 7 paying $900. Never did get the bonus spin but who cares!

Back on the monorail and down to Harrahs. Slotted through Harrahs and Linq and went and put our name on the waiting list for Yard House. So for the rest of this report you can assume that I drank bloody marys and play slots at every casino that we stop at, so I don’t have to say it, just assume. Had dinner at Yard House. DH had Fish and Chips and I had Chicken and mashed potatoes and a salad. The food was good and I liked the atmosphere. I think this was the most expensive meal that we had, it was about $44.

Slotted through Flamingo, stopped at Jo Jo’s Jerky in front of Ballys as I had a BOGO Groupon that I had bought, and went back to sucky slots Ballys and went over to Paris with results just as bad. Uggg.

Sunday, May 22

Today was Cabana day. My friend from Iowa and I had been chatting about this for months on end. We had never gotten a cabana and it was just something that we wanted to do. We had tried to find out numerous times the cost and weather or not it could be charged to our room. Between DH and I, we had about $400 in TR Credits mostly from social rewards because lord knows you can’t acquire too many from gambling on their sucky machines. It was only going to be in the high 70’s today so we decided to see if we could get a cabana for 4 hours. They said they had 2 left so we better hurry and decide. It was $99 plus 18% tip. We decided to go for it! We had our pick of cabanas as there was no one else there. We made our choice based on where the sun was going to be. The cabana had a table and chairs, 4 lounge chairs, a fridge with unlimited waters, a flat screen TV and they brought a nice large beautiful fruit tray.

I got really hungry so DH and I both ordered a hot dog to the tune of $16, Yikes! It was served on a lovely paper plate along with some catsup and mustard packets. Once our friend saw ours he ordered one too along with a beer. I was the only one who ventured into the pool. I really liked this pool. I love to swim and the deep end is 12 feet. Really nice clean water and I liked the music the DJ was playing. After an hour or so some college aged guys came in to the cabana next to us. They blasted the TV with some kind of tennis tournament which woke me up from my nap. They proceeded to pee on the tent wall and do push ups for each other while making lots of noise. The waitress came over and told them that they had to PAY for the cabana and could not just use it for free. They reluctantly pulled out their credit cards and paid up. They got a bottle of champagne and almost hit my friend in the head with the cork. What a bunch of assholes.

Would I get a cabana there again? Yes, it was a nice experience. I was able to use my TR credits to pay for it when we checked out.

We left at 2:00 pm and went back up to the room and changed and walked down to Ellis Island. We have eaten in the cafe before but have never had the BBQ so wanted to try it. Our friends went with us and they really like BBQ so they wanted to try it too. It was great. We also tried one of their homemade root beers. And you sure couldn’t beat the price. The cost for all four of us was half of what we paid the night before. You get two dollars off with your players card. We slotted around for a while and did good on the slots. I cashed out about $300 on some kind of Rio Machine that I have never seen before or since. It was a lot of fun. It was the night of the Billboard Music awards and we wanted to us Uber but when we went to use it they wanted DOUBLE the price as it was a peak time. So we cancelled and called a cab. We taxied to Bellagio, it was $10.

We slotted through Bellagio not doing much and checked out the summer conservatory display. It seems that they re-used some of the stuff from last years display. We walked to the back and trammed over to Aria where we went to the players club to get our jean philippe patisserie reward. Rewards all taken care of we all go up and choose our pastry. When DH gets to the register they tell him his reward is not on there. Hmmm, he is pissed. He says forget it. We take a seat and start to eat and he changes his mind and charges back to the players club. He comes back about 15 minutes later and we have to watch him eat as we were done, poor thing. I felt bad.

It must have been after 11 pm by the time we made it to the Cosmo as I have never seen so many people in my life. Our plans were to get a drink at the Chandelier Bar but there was not a seat to be had. Instead we went to the slots and ordered chocolate martinis while playing Magic Mike. They brought them in a martini glass too and they were delicious but Magic Mike was a real let down. :-(

We walked over to Planet Hollywood and watched a really good street performer playing a violin. He was really good and entertaining. Then we went in and lost the guys when they went to the bathroom and wondered around for about an hour looking for them. Once found we just went back through Paris and to Ballys as it was a long day and we were tired. The after party for the Billboard Music Awards were at Drai’s so that went on until about 4 in the morning but I was so tired I really didn’t hear it.

Got up and packed up as we were leaving today. Our room was comped and I used TR credits to pay for the resort fee. I did have to pay that $18 tip though. “Would you like to put that on your credit card?” No I will just give you the $18. I wonder how the cabana girl gets the tip? I would have rather just given it directly to her. We did tip her when she brought us something, I didn’t know if we should have or not. I don’t know cabana etiquette.

Drove to Laughlin taking our time and taking in the sights. I had to make a pit stop and didn’t think I would make it to the rest area so we stopped at the Terrible s in Searchlight. Used the bathroom and spotted the bar with slots in it. I wanted to get change but could not find a change machine. I asked the older lady bartender, “is there a change machine?” “your looking at her” she says. I hand her a $50. She stairs at me. “You have to tell the change machine what you want, don’t you” (very snarkey) I say, 2 $20’s and a $10. How about 2 20’s and 2 5’s. Whatever, WTF. She puts my $50 in a poker machine at the bar and says “I thought it was fake, I guess it wasn’t” OMG, I thought DH was gonna die. We spot an old Pompelli machine and put in a $20. It wasn’t hitting anything so when it got down to 65 cents I hit the cash out button. “Hand Pay, Please Call Attendant” OMG, daggers were coming out of her eyes as she kind of through the 65 cents to me! We hightailed it out of there. That woman was one of a kind for sure.

We arrive at Golden Nugget and check in. I had reserved a smoking room but they said that none were available. We were on the second floor of a three floor tower. There was a smoking area down at the end of the hall and a nice area to smoke outside with chairs in a garden type setting so it wasn’t too bad. We went over to the Pioneer to Bumbleberry Flats for lunch. I had a ham sandwich and DH had his favorite Biscuits and Gravy. Both were excellent and we had a really sweet waitress. I would recommend this place, the food is interesting and the service is very good. Check out the One Arm Bandit I found there! Drove up to Harrahs to try to get my remaining points for the point multiplier they were having. Got my points without having to spend much playing some quarter machines there and they were having a 5X points bonus day.

We slotted around at all the other places and ended up at Atlantis. Our plan was to have dinner at In and Out Burger as we had never tired it and wanted to see what all the hype was about, but we were not hungry so we go a cheesecake on a stick and an eclair at the coffee shop there. The pastries there are awesome and I got them with comps that I had so we didn’t even have to pay for them. We had a nice $400 hit on a $1 10X machine so we left up which was good. Went back to GN and slotted a while before going to bed. The weather was really really nice. It was nice to just be outside for a change and walk along the riverwalk. It is a much more relaxed atmosphere then in Vegas and a nice change after the weekend.

We drove back from Laughlin and decided to stop at The Rainbow Club in Henderson for lunch. I have read about this place on line and wanted to try it. We had some trouble finding a place to park but finally did find a parking place. We went in and put our name on the list as there was a line. We sat down at a babies machine and hit the envelope bonus for $112. Shortly after that our table was ready so we got lunch. DH got the sausage breakfast and I got buffalo chicken fingers and fries. All was very good and very cheap. I would love to come here again for dinner. You cant beat the prices here and they are owned by the same people that own the peppermill. The thing that struck me about this place is how clean it was. And the chairs at the machines were nicer than you would see at the Wynn. They had a mix of old and new machines and we had fun there. We walked across the ally to the Eldorado and played a few not doing anything but also noticed how clean it was. As we were walking to our car we noticed Emerald Isle Casino. Hey why not, were here. So we go there and slotted around for quite a while. Had some good hits and enjoyed ourselves in this little local place.

We drove over to the Orleans where we would be staying for the next 5 nights. Checked right in and got settled. We both really love this place and stay here every trip. They have every machine you can imagine and the people are nice and it isn’t crazy like on the strip. We slotted around and drove over to Palazzo to meet up with our Iowa friends at Gramaldis. The pizza and company was good as always then we slotted around in Palazzo and Venition. Everyone was getting spanked so our friends opted to leave. We hit a babies machine and a gorilla chief for about $200 so we took that and went over to Venetian High Limit. We had a decent hit on the $1 Elvis machine and the $1 pinball and then we just took the ticket and played every machine that was outside the high limit. When we were done we still had our $200. Not too bad. I would really like to stay there and I was contacted by some kind of Vice President of Player Development in the e-mail. So maybe next trip I will contact him and see if we can get a comped room as I haven’t had any luck calling the reservation line.

We went back to the Orleans and had Baskin Robbins for dinner. My favorite is Pralines and Creme and I can’t find it anywhere around here. It was still opened so I jumped on it and we were not hungry after that. It is odd how little we eat when we are in Vegas. We just don’t seem to get very hungry, LOL.

Today was Senior day at the Orleans. You get a point multiplier (mine was 7X) and with very little play a free buffet. We ended up getting the lunch buffet for free and it was not too bad. I think I like the lunch buffet better than their dinner buffet, but you can’t beat free even if you just get a salad. In case you couldn’t tell, we don’t like to spend a lot of money on food as we like to save that for gambling, LOL. After a morning of slotting we got ready and drove over to MGM Grand to valet our car. No one asked for a fee but I did notice a machine there where you would swipe your credit card to pay. I am gold and got an email a while back saying that it was complementary but I don’t know how they will determine that. Maybe you show your card when you pick up your car? We slotted through MGM and over to NYNY to meet our friends for the Santana Concert tonight. I won $50 on a Gold Pays machine so treated everyone to a drink at the Hershey Bar. I got a chocolate caramel and my friend got a chocolate martini and the guys got beers. They bill was $44 plus tip! There went my $50. They were good and I always wanted to try one. We trammed over to Mandalay Bay for the concert which was at House of Blues. We all really enjoyed this concert. Really awesome musicians and Santana was great. I can’t believe he is in his 70’s and the awesome drummer is his wife! She looks much younger than him.

We went back afterwards and went over to Wolfgang Puck at MGM to use our MyVegas Reward for BOGO entree. I got the flat iron steak that I usually get my friend got chicken, her husband got the gnocchi which was the smallest entree that I have ever seen and DH got the spaghetti and meatballs. Everything was good except it took a really long time to get our food and mine had sat there because the French fries tasted old and cold. I didn’t have my paper run out and the waiter said that he could not accept just the code but finally relented with me complaining. It didn’t say that on the paper, so FYI, run out the paper if you decide to use it. I used comps to pay the remainder of our bill. With full bellies we parted ways. The valet was not busy at all but brought someone else’s car and had to go back to find ours. Back to the Orleans for the night.

Our friends taxied over from NYNY to the Orleans for a while. We slotted around and I ended up getting a ceramic chip and dip gift that they were giving out that day. We drove up to the South Outlet mall and shopped for a few hours. I have never been here before so it was nice to see. They were having all kinds of sales and good bargains but we ended up not buying to much. Boo We then went over to the Peppermill for lunch. It was happy hour so my friend and I both go these delicious orange drinks. Two of us got eggs Benedict and DH got biscuits and gravy again and the other got an omelet. It was good and filling as always. The roads are really torn up down that way and it was sad to see the shell of the Riviera. I will miss that place. It looks like they are making some progress on Resorts World. I can’t wait til it opens!

We dropped off our friends and drove up to MResort for a while then over to Silverton. I got enough points to get three owl trivets from MResort as that was the gift that day. At Silverton we hit for $600 on an 88 fortunes machine and several other nice hits. So we had a good night.

We went back to the Orleans and ended up eating late night at the Cafe. We had the special, cheeseburgers and fries, total bill was $12. I had a $25 credit so it was free.

We had planned on going downtown today but opted to go to Santa Fe Station since we hadn’t made it there on Thursday. We stopped at Palace Station first and picked up DH free T-shirt from MyVegas and slotted around for a while. We had a 2 Lunch Buffet MyVegas Reward at Santa Fe. We slotted around but couldn’t do much here. We had the lunch buffet which was really good. We drove over to Fiesta and hit an old Pompelli Machine for $700. It seemed like we couldn’t lose after that. We came out of there way ahead, thanks Fiesta! Then we stopped at The Suncoast. Coming down the escelator I spotted a buffalo grand and got a nice hit on it. We did really well there and quite a few drinks. Suncoast was good. Back to the Orleans to listen to the band and slot around.

Saturday, May 28

This was our last full day in Vegas so we wanted to make the best of it. It was also our worst day gambling. Typically we do really bad on Saturday so I am not surprised. We decided to go over to Fiesta Henderson since we had done so good at the other Fiesta. It was a bloodbath. We were hungry so got a slice of pizza in their food court but didn’t stay long because the gambling was so bad. We decided to stop at Jokers Wild on boulder highway since we were passing by. We did hit a machine there for $115 on the envelope bonus but it wasn’t the babies machine, it was the one with the snakes. They had good bloody marys here and the waitress was really nice. We then drove down to Eastside Cannery where it sucked as usual. We got a cool T-shirt for points and left to go over to Boulder Station. I asked at Eastside when Boyd was taking over and they said it had not been approved by the gaming board yet. Hopefully it may be better if they get it, I hope so as it is a nice little place. Boulder Station sucked so we went over to Sam’s Town. Slotted around for a while and didn’t hit too much but about $300 on another Gold Pays machine. We went to Billy Bobs for dinner. It was empty which surprised me on a Saturday night. I used points to pay so we got 40% off our bill which is a real bargain. I got lobster tail and DH got BBQ chicken and ribs. Delicious and Free. Back to the Orleans for more slotting and band watching. We hit a machine in high limit for $900 which made up for our days losses.

Saturday, May 29

Our flight left at 5:50 today so we just slotted around the Orleans in the morning until it was time to return the car and go to the airport. We got precheck at the security line and DH suitcase got pulled. He had put a sh$tload of change in his carry on and they said they couldn’t see through it. He had Jackpot, Slapshot and Winner in his suitcase. They are two stuffed monkeys and a stuffed bear that are our good luck charms. I thought DH was going to die when they opened his case but they had no reaction at all. They just sent us on our way. It was a good flight home except there was a sick baby on board that say behind us. By Tuesday I was sick as a dog. I am still not over it. I have gotten sick on the plane before so it is nothing new, it just sucks to be sick and not to be in Vegas anymore. Hope to go back soon, until next time!

Wow, that's a detailed report. Does Suncoast still have the Buffalo Pit with about 40 buffalo machines in it?

I've had decent success at Bally's, stayed there 3 times since Halloween. However I only play about 10 machines there lol. The rest of them are too new for my tastes.

Nice reading!

Thanks for the TR. We too like the Orleans and always stay a few nights there and a few nights on the strip. We will be there June 25, 26, and 27th after we spend 3 nights at Paris. Can't wait. I hope the slots are nice to us but like you said the Orleans has a great variety of slot machines.

Great report Sandra! Loved the mixture of off strip casinos you hit up, regardless of some of the poor payouts. And the bartender in Searchlight, gotta love the locals of Searchlight. Hope you recover soon, I get sick 80% of the time after Vegas and I know that non-vegas sick feeling!

Wow, a wonderfully detailed TR! Just the way I like them. And I must say I believe you guys hit every casino in Vegas except Hooters. HHH! But seriously, you did cover a lot of ground. And you had some great wins too! What a wonderful way to enjoy part of a day by renting a cabana. Not sure about the college guys peeing outside of it though, but hey, they are young and it is Vegas.

You sound a lot like us. For some reason we just never have a big appetite in Vegas. But the meals you did have looked quite satisfying, and the prices could not be beat. Nice that you got to spend time with friends too. That always makes for a fun time. Sorry about the flight home and catching what the baby had. But if you had to get it, it is better to get it on the flight home versus the flight to Vegas.

Thanks so much for the wonderful TR! :applause:

I have dined there before. It is good and very reasonable. The bring the big potato with all the fixins on the side. It is more old school as the new place is more modern. If you pay with your points it is 40% off. If you are over 50 and play on senior day you can get up to a 20X multiplyer and get lots of points. I look forward to reading your report!

We are over 50 but won't be there on a Tuesdays. We save up our points for CET properties because they are local and we can earn them here and use them in Vegas. But hen we play at the Orleans we use them up before we leave so nothing in the bank. But we do have a food credit along with the comped rooms so we will use that and any points that we have. Thanks for the information.

It seems like we spend less time off the strip anymore. We go to play and I don't like the mobs of people and really expensive food that the strip has. There are plenty of great restaurants off strip and the cost is so much more reasonable. Las Vegas is very easy to navigate unlike Pittsburgh where we are from and the landscape is so different. We really enjoy it.

Awesome report and I learned some I can't believe I didn't know- that the Peppermill has a club in Henderson, the Rainbow Club. I will definitely have to check that out in November. Do you know if their players card is linked to their properties in Reno and Sparks? Thank you for talking the time to share your trip with us! Oh hell yeah, I just went to their website, and the Rainbow looks just like the Western Village in Sparks:)

I did not get a players card there but it looks like they may be linked. It is in the original town of Henderson. It looks like main street and is only about 3 or 4 blocks long but so clean and cute place. We really liked the restaurant there. You can park and walk to the three casinos.

Love it!!! A trip report posted in a section that does not require the magic number 10 !!! thanks so much

Our friends that we met there didn't have 10 posts so CPT moved it overe here so they could read it. Nice to see you posting!
