Which 5 Hotel in LV?

Hi Jokers, new poster here in need of your opinions. Since we play almost exclusively in Reno I do not get comped rooms in LV other than the lower end CET hotels. My husband and I will be going to LV in Nov. and rather than take advantage of the free rooms at Harrah's that are available to us we would like to try something newer and nicer. In the running are: Aria, Cosmopolitan, Wynn, Encore, and Palazzo. We are low rollers who play penny slots and like to drink while we gamble. A nice sports book would also be a plus. We are mid 50's but very young at heart. I am leaning towards the Cosmopolitan because of it's terraces and location but would appreciate any input from you Vegas experts. Thanks in advance for your help! BTW, that's supposed to say 5 Star Hotel in the header, dangit, I think I need new glasses:(

We've been to Vegas a few times .we ve stayed at several places . I'll list them lowest to highest in order of us liking them .1 is the NY NY. 2 Planet Hollywood . 3 The orleans. 4 Palazzo ..oddly enough the Orleans was very reasonable in price on room and food .

My favorite place in Vegas is Wynn but I think Cosmo might be a great place too.

There are several members who love Palazzo so you might consider that too.

You have asked the $25k question here. [emoji2] Even though out of the list you have posted, Aria is the only one I have stayed at. We have stayed there probably 8 -10 times and absolutely love everything about it. The rooms are very nicely done, and the beds are the most comfortable you will find. The casino has a great selection and the cocktails are wonderful. Easy access to Monte Carlo and Bellagio to get out and play other MLife casinos. And the food options are great and can fit any budget.

But with that said, I do not think you could go wrong with any one on your list. The Jokers love all of these properties. My only hesitation with being a low roller is that we try to keep our play within the network we are staying at, and with Cosmo being solo, I could not stay there more than a night or two. I like the option of having several casinos to hit up if I am doing poorly at one.

But I know you will have a fabulous time no matter where you pick!

Wow, you Jokers are lightening quick! You have also given me a lot to think about. We don't make it to Vegas very often so Cosmo being a stand alone isn't too much of a concern because M Life doesn't have any properties in the Reno/Tahoe area where we visit 4-6 times a year. I think I might have to do 2 days at a south end 5 star property (Aria or Cosmo) and another 2 days at the north end (Palazzo, Encore or Wynn). It's a tough, and expensive!, decision. Are you going for more than 4 nights? If so then I would suggest splitting locations. Maybe 2 nights at Cosmo and 2 at V/P or Wynn. If not interested in splitting nights, then my vote would be Cosmo all the way.

I love the rooms at V/P but for some reason I never get comps there (even though I do play there almost every trip). It's so nice to have a suite with the extra space, which all of their rooms are. But I also love Cosmo and it's very easy to get upgraded there (paying of course). So if you book the basic room it's likely that they'd offer you an upgrade to a terrace room for a few bucks more a night. Or you could try the $20 trick and see where it gets you. I've been very lucky there with upgrades the last few times, and if you could get the Terrace 1 bedroom suite I'd go that route!! There's truly nothing like having that terrace and sitting out there, especially with the Bellagio fountain view. Last time my friend and I just sat out on ours for hours, listening to our bluetooth speaker and making our own drinks in the kitchen!

Cosmopolitan has a better sports book. Hotel is nice but I am early 50s and feel more comfortable at Aria. I personally feel the crowd .. Especially the Marquee club crowd is a little young (and wild) for me. I love spending time at Cosmopolitan but prefer staying t Aria.

The beds are Aria are incredible :) I stayed in a corner suite (the room just above a basic room) and you have access to a special check-in room -- the "tower suites" check in room. There are a few snacks, coffee and beverages (water and soda) available all day and we took full advantage of it. Love the food options at Aria with some decent lower budget places to more high end places. I like the sportsbook at Aria a lot.

The best thing about Cosmo are the terraces. It has a more hip vibe than Aria. Beds are comfy too, but not as comfy as Aria. Smaller casino footprint but lots packed in. They just built a new sportsbook area but I didn't get a chance to check it out.

Wynn/Encore is the prettiest of the three in my opinion. Just gorgeously decorated. I also really like the beds here. Issue here may be that the sportsbook may not give drink tickets with bets -- I don't know that for sure but I wouldn't be surprised as W/E makes you pay for drinks at the VP bars.

All three have great drinks. As for service, at all three, I find that where I'm sitting is key for how often I can get a drink :)

Since we are mainly penny slot players with my husband preferring the new slots and me preferring the older "classic" slots, which casino(s) offer the best mix? If any of you have been to Reno and played at the Peppermill, Atlantis, or Grand Sierra they have a nice "mix" which makes us both happy. We also love to get drink tickets while sports betting for those times when your slotting and just can't seem to find a cocktail waitress:)

We stay at Wynn after 12 years at the Monte Carlo. I just get lost in the beauty and luxury and options. We live in a small town, so it's another world for us. That being said, I truly loved the location of the Monte Carlo and the fact that it was surrounded by six or seven MLIFE casinos that we could walk to. So I think you really could not go wrong with Aria as your 5 Star choice. We love the casino and visit it every year. Even with the very little play we give them, we still get offers for free or discounted rooms. While I've never stayed there, it seems to be the hotel of choice for many on this forum and will be our next choice if offers dry up at Wynn. I know you guys will have a great time no matter where you stay.

Getting good rate during SEMA at the original 5 hotels you mentioned may prove difficult if not impossible as that outing brings a lot of visitors. The rate you have at the RIO is a good price during SEMA (but may not be comparable to the quality of the rooms you get in Reno. )

Without status/comps, and paying for the room, possibly Encore or Wynn would be my preference. IMO you will get a fine room, because they are all well maintained and appointed.

Why not to choose the others:
Aria has no free early check in.
Venetian Palazzo has worst cocktail service. Still waiting for my whiskey sour!
Wynn/ Encore are for Europeans or old people at heart.

Not to quibble, but actually all the properties you listed are four star properties. I think for a five star experience you would have to look at Wynn Tower Suites or Aria Sky Suites among the properties you listed. If you're truly looking for a five star experience, you may also want to consider Mandarin Oriental, MGM Skylofts, and the Four Seasons (above Mandalay Bay).

If you just want to be at one of the better properties in Vegas and you don't consider location, Wynn/Encore probably have the best rooms and would likely provide the most luxurious experience. Aria and Venetian Palazzo are probably comparable to each other, although V/P have more restaurants and reasonable options to eat. Cosmo is quite nice but difficult to compare to the others. Cosmo's calling card is the balconies. I've stayed about 10 times at Cosmo and really enjoy the property and think the rooms are nice, but without the balconies and the spectacular views it really doesn't compare. Many people mention the club crowd at Cosmo, but once you're in your room that's a non factor. Also, you mentioned liking the older slots, you may not find much of those at newer casinos like Cosmo and Aria. I've stayed at all the casinos you've mentioned and enjoyed them but it really comes down to what type of experience you're looking for.

Hi, and thanks everyone. I don't need a true "5*" hotel, just something a step above what we are normally used to. The balconys at Cosmo are a major draw, the idea of enjoying a few cocktails on the terrace is very enticing. Also, thank you Retrigger, I didn't know that the Cosmo allowed early check in. That is a big plus since we will already be in town and will definitely want to start watching and betting on Football Sunday. I realize that some of the newer casinos won't have quite the variety of slot machines that I enjoy, but that is why I am staying downtown the first two days of my trip. The plan is to start on the lower end (but maybe more fun) hotel and graduate to a higher end hotel with an overall nicer, but comfortable atmosphere, with great cocktail service, HHH😁 Thanks ya'll!

I've stayed at Cosmo (love the terrace and microwave in room) and Wynn Tower Suites (has its own entrance and registration). I usually do Cosmo first 3 nights and Wynn TS last, 4 nights. Have fun whichever you select.

Cosmo rooms with the balcony are nice for the view. Have been in their rooms a few times. Don't love their casino.
Like the fact that Aria is fine with people taking pictures of slot wins! I have only visited it once to eat there.

Laurie, what don't you like about Cosmos casino? Just curious. The room rate at Aria is $143 for a regular room and at Cosmo I can get a Terrace Studio for $129. If I remember correctly the rate at Wynn and Enforce (standard rooms) is $194. I will definitely keep my eye on rates and/or special offers, it's still a long way off. Thanks everyone.

Cosmo casino is small and chopped up, however I find it easy to get around.

I have a ton to add but traveling today so will be quick.

Palazzo is my preferred casino for quality of rooms combined with choices of dining and slots. Having 2 decent size slot floors gives you the option to switch up casinos (sort of) while earning points for one property. I have found service to be excellent and comps to be generous. ( I am a low roller and they take good care of me)

Cosmo rooms are fantastic, especially the balconies if it's not too hot to enjoy them. The slot floor is only large enough to entertain me for a day or 2. Dining is fabulous. Comps are fairly generous. I Avoid it on the weekend because of the club crowd but love it during the week.

Wynn is lovely. Everything is immaculate and service is top notch. Amazing beds and beautiful rooms. Their slot floor is surprisingly good with excellent drink service in proper glasses. I find the dining options a bit
Pricy for my personal taste. Comps are a bit More challenging here than many places.

Aria is really nice with excellent dining and as has been mentioned, fabulous beds. I have not done well on the slot floor and lately have found it to be in disarray as they remodel often it seems. It has decent access to the other mlife properties though so you can move about easily while playing for the same group. I like specialty slots so I find MLife to be tough comp wise for me.

All of these choices are excellent and I agree with previous posters that you might want to do a combo. Enjoy the decision making. That's half the fun!

I would go with Cosmopolitan because it's possible for low rollers to get future free room offers from that property if not on the weekends on the weekdays. Also the free drinks on the Cosmo casino floor are among the best on the strip and the location is good.

The LINQ just renovated their rooms, so all their rooms are brand new. I see you mentioned that you have offers to the total rewards casinos. Check into that and the reviews for the new rooms there including pictures to see if that is where you want to stay to save money. All you would need to pay is the daily resort fee if you have free rooms to all the total reward casinos.

I have played at Cosmo quite a few times but never stayed there. Just don't like the game selection and cocktail service wasn't as good as Wynn!

Camon, thank you for the Linq suggestion, I do like the location. I will most likely use my CET room offer at the Rio for Fri. & Sat. nights ($39 rate), so I wouldn't be able, as far as I know, to book the comp rooms at the Linq (Sun.-Thurs). I think that I can only have one CET reservation within the same time frame. I will keep checking the Total Rewards site for better offers. Thanks ya'll!
