Saw this quote on vp.com and it may or may not apply to those of us over here. I know that it 100% applies to myself and Sassycat.

"Video poker is for those that like to drive the car and slots is for those that like to be driven."

Thoughts?

When ever we go anywhere I drive so you might have something.

Replace drive and driven with sober and drunk

Sounds pretty correct.Playing VP is much more than just hitting the spin button

Hehehe...I hate to drive and avoid it as much as I can...but I love me some DDB but I love slots as well. When I'm tired or have too much of a buzz on I stay away from VP.

I prefer vp over anything else but I'll play slots just for shits-n-giggles. I said "bye-bye" to my last girlfriend over 10 years ago (been happy & calm ever since - haha!) so I always drive myself : )

I am a control freak and am almost unable to be a passenger in a car! I love my Video Poker.

But I love my slots too. Maybe playing slots is more like riding in a plane where I don't know how to fly, so I am content to chill out, relax & hope I get to my destination :plane: Hmmmm, now that I think of it I wish I knew a little less about both of them. Sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing - HHH!

Foamy always wants to drive and that is fine with me :D and VP makes me think too hard and not relaxing but I will play it on occasion.

Yes we are - HHH!

But on that topic, the worst are the card players. If you go on certain other message boards, they really insult slot players. Like knowing how to play blackjack makes them freaking geniuses :faint: I guess they are happy making a few dollars a hand, but they will NEVER feel the rush of

hitting a huge jackpot on a small bet. Arseholes! Their loss!!

Oh right the blackjack players. I have a family member, who thinks he is a genius at the game, but he doesn't play because "it never fails, the people who are at my table, don't know how to play", bla, bla, bla. they steal my cards,,,,,,

I play it all. VP, slots, tables. VP is the main one though. So I like driving most of the time too.

Maybe we should compare it to sex. VP players like it on top vs the bottom ?

Pat Oh it sounds like my Dad he used to say I would have won but I had a bunch of dummies at my table.hhh One time he was playing between one of my friends and me and he got a pair of sixes and asked me should I split them I said ask Joe he did Joe said you want 2 16's he said no he said I wouldn't split them then.

I do prefer to be chauffeured around. ;)

I used to only play Blackjack and Baccarat until they developed video slots and I went to the dark side. I still occasionally play some table games and some VP, but since I have my youtube slot channel as a hobby now, I can't stay away from recording slot bonuses. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

So true NHcris. On VP.com I notice that the vp players that also play cards think they are smarter than everyone else to the point where they are insulting. In the end VP and cards depends just as much on luck as regular slots do. There is more thinking involved but I would prefer to be lucky when at the casino than to being the smartest person in the room.

Yeah you gotta be real smart to play basic strategy. hhh I can count cards but it's boring as hell I did it a few times and won but it's a grind and I told Laurie if I was going to do that I would just stay at the store and work I'd make more money and not be as bored.

Foamy, I knew you were, I was just being silly:)

I haven't seen BJ players look down on VP players in other forums but I don't read everything. Slots, yes, "you're just throwing your money away playing slots, you should learn basic strategy BJ".
I've seen that quote on VMB too many times to count - ugh!

When my husband and I started playing in Las Vegas, he would only play BJ and me VP. One time he was losing badly at BJ, found me and said "Show me how to play VP" lol

@mauretina you know alot of people really like bj but to me it's like watching paint dry. I like the action at the crap table.

For people who play $1 and $5 video poker how much do you usually insert in for a session? Unlike slots they cant be hot or cold really can they? Would $250 be a good starting point for $1 machine?

Usually $100 for $1
I'll only play $5 VP if I'm ahead and not add any to the machine, just switch denominations (that's why I prefer multi-denom machines with all denom being on the same RNG).

Absolutely, they can be hot or cold. Sometimes you'll hit the dead-hand zones and sometimes hit something on every hand.

$250 is fine to start and get a feel for how it's playing. Which game are you planning on playing?

Nhcris

It also makes a big difference what game you are playing, dvandentop. If you are playing something volatile like ddb, cold spells can be brutal whereas Bonus Poker can withstand longer cold spells because of the better payout for 2oak. (I know this because the VP Fairy Monica taught me to switch games to get more play.) I have been known to go through $300 on quarter ddb in 30 minutes, so imagine how quick your $250 could go on $5 ddb. 10 hands and out is not fun!

$100 for $1 machine. Should last you for a while if you are playing JOB. If you are playing DDB which I do, you can have $100 last you only about ten minutes, or if you're lucky and get a few four of a kinds ($250) then it can keep you playing for a while til you get a big one - 4 aces with a kicker!! or 4 2s, 3s or 4s!

I started out gambling on VP and Roulette. When slots got "fun" with bonus features I started playing them. I need a Monica lesson!

Mauretania

Yes, DDB is volatile and it's best to stick with Bonus Poker and you may get lucky and hit a royal.

Funny thing Chris, I noticed both those lovely royals you hit were on Bonus Poker!

When I play single line $1 VP, I almost always stick to Bonus Poker or some kind of Deuces wild varient. I will play $1 if I am ahead , just to see if I can nail another quad. Sometimes it happens. Another thing I do is play $1 Super times pay, but set the machine to play only one line. I have hit some nice pays with mulipliers , but no multiplied royal, yet.

I usually start out with $100 for every VP session. be it quarters, 50c or dollars. When I do get up signifigantly, I walk. this is usually after hitting a premium quad on DDB.

If you are looking to maximize coin in, look into playing triple or five play. This reduces varience generally. I churned out $30k of coin in just a few hours at Bellagio playing 3/5/10 play Bonus poker, and still walked away with more than my buy in. But if those quads don't come, you get killed.

dvandentop,
My offers from the alphabet group A, B and MGM typically are three comped nights, $125 free play and $50 - $100 F/B from playing $1/$2 single line and $! triple/.50 five-play.
Also, B offers me comped tickets for sports events and the full year of headliner shows. But I'm a degenerate gambler and have never used any tickets:)

You also do quite well at Keno. What are your lucky Keno numbers?

FL Mary

Yes, I've been luck with video keno too. I don't have any special numbers but I play numbers close to each other or some kind of pattern. I normally play 6 numbers.
