Another lurker having to post so I can read about the antics of my fellow gamblers. My name is Jan, I'm from Upstate NY. Recently retired after teaching 31 years at a community college(that's why I chose "teach" for my screen name.)Husband and I go to AC every couple months and to Vegas at least once a year. Don't really gamble at locals. Play Video poker about 90% of time, slots the rest.

Welcome Teach! Our daughter just started teaching at a community college here in Il. She teaches composition and rhetoric (which explains why I can't put 2 sentences together). Glad to see another lurker posting.

Glad to have you here! You're just in time for a whole weekend of Joker Shenanigans in Tahoe! My summers growing up were spent north of Lake George & at the track at Saratoga , so I love upstate NY!

Welcome Jan, where upstate? I spend a good amount of time in the Adirondacks on Lake Champlain.

Speaking of, ChellesBelles, where did you used to spend time north of Lake George? [emoji1]

Still to to figure out how to reply to individual comments but to answer some other questions. By "upstate" I meant to indicate I wasn't from the NYC area. Actually live in near Syracuse. We do however go up to the Adirondacks quite often. Next month will be spending a week in the Saranac Lake area hiking and canoeing.

Nice. I live in the NYC area but go to the lake Champlain area a few times a year.

Visited saranac lake a few times - Like that custard place a lot - mountain something I think.

Also visited Syracuse many times as my best friend from college grew up there. Remember going to dinosaur BBQ and wegmans often and going to the state fair once :)

Jan, if your grammar sucks then you will fit in just fine! :encouragement: And since you taught statistics, if I sent you my gambling history do you think you can figure out why I always loose? :cower:

Jan, welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your retirement. We have a large contingent here that plays in AC and of course many go to Vegas. What's your casino of choice in AC?

We tend to concentrate our play at CET properties. Husband and I are both low Diamonds. In AC like Harrahs for their progressive nickel Joker Poker. In the last 3 years I've hit the progressive jackpots ( dealt 5 of a kind) twice. First time on the 10 play for 2300 and the second time on the 5 play for 3100.

That sounds awesome. I'm one of those silly casino goers that never considers the math and I am always in the dumps because the slots take my money. I keep thinking I need to learn to play VP. I dabbled a few years ago but it never took. Your wins remind me that I need to diversify.

Jan, when and where is your next trip?

Hi Jan! Welcome to this wonderful forum. Congratulations on your retirement. I also play video poker in AC, at the Borgata. The Borgata has a few nickel video progressive machines that are fun. Enjoy your next trip to AC!

My closest cousins grew up in Cazenovia, and now most of them live in Webster. As a kid I LOVED to go through Chittenango Falls; the name always cracked us up!

Understandable if you don't make it. Where in Europe are you going? I just came back from a trip to London and Paris.

foamy The 10 play are located in the smoking section across from Bill's against the wall. The 5 play (but 10 coins a hand ) are located in the non smoking section, toward the middle of casino. Last time we were there the progressive was over $8000 for a $2.50 bet. Both sets of machines only play Joker Poker.

I need to learn to play VP. I've done a little learning online, but haven't put it to the test. I think I'll have that be my morning slot play in Tahoe!

Anyone know which nickel machines at Harrahs & Harveys have the best pay tables?
