Sunday afternoon we went to the JACK in Cleveland to use some FP they had offered us and to see what had changed since leaving CET. They did change the signs, covers on table games, and all the personnel had on nice red Tee shirts. Man were we impressed!!!! One correction, the Diamond Lounge (now called the Library) had on there older CET uniforms. Slot floor exactly the same.

Couple of things we did find out about. The player Rewards system gives you 3 points per $1 coin in on slots. Takes $33,000 coin in to get to CET equal of Diamond. Oh yes, good only for 6 months. Jan thru June and July thru Dec. Have 80,000 points on June 30 and then 0 on July 1. So now takes $66,000 coin in per year. But CET is $75,000 so JACK is better. But, again, with bonus system CET has you could reach Diamond for as little as $25,000 coin in with 2 on the 2500 Tier Credit plays per day. So which is better? For us the CET system especially as our play in Ohio is zilch for Jan thru April so we only have 2 months for the $33,000 coin in. Also the JACK is not National with ROCK Gaming having Cleveland, Cincy, and Greektown in Detroit. If you are Diamond level and above (C or K level) then you get a trip to LV to stay a casino downtown. However details really lacking.

Also VP is 1 point per $1 coin in instead of the normal twice the coin in versus slots that most casino have. Screwing over the video poker players. This would be like 1 TC per $15 of play.

We went to see floor host to ask about our play and he could not bring anything up because the system wasn't complete yet. Wow!! Another impressive move.

While in Diamond Lounge a staff member mentioned that the Sunday before was the lowest tip day since they had been working at Cleveland casino. Lounge practically empty after 8 PM. Also, had a little problem with the food. Normally serve salads plus sandwiches as a rule. Went in at 6PM and found some cookies. Half hour later came a cheese plate of pepper jack and pepperoni. Later came some rolls. At 7:30 they brought out small plates of mashed potatoes (quarter cup) and 3 small slices of roast beef (maybe an once). Shot the bull with a lot of players in Library and most if not all agreed that the players are being screwed by this change in ownership. Not a good start.

We did play $155 in free play and brought home $125. VP JOB. Also included a trip around the slot floor playing our favorites (for last time?).

One thing I have noticed about this casino. The ration of slot AGR (adjusted gross revenue) to Table games AGR is almost 50:50. Very unusual for casino. Normally 75:25 from sample I took from Cincy, New Jersey and LV gaming reports.

At least we did solve one problem and that was where we would concentrate our play. CET or JACK. Will be at Caesars in AC this Sunday and on Monday going for another 1000 TC and that plus 50% Spring promotion bonus would put us at Diamond for 2017. Staying 4 days.

Anyone want our JACK players card?

Oh man, Penguin, that totally sucks. It was bad enough losing your CET casino, but this really sounds disappointing. And it sounds like the folks are staying away. Maybe, possibly a place to go low roll for a couple of hours if the itch gets bad enough.

If you still have that card available next month, bring it to the M&G. I have a table that is a little wobbly and I could use it to level it under that one leg. :biggrin-new:

Wow, thanks for the revue. Without a national chain to use benefits, not much incentive for travelers like you folks. That's a major reason my trips to Hollywood Columbus are becoming increasingly rare.

I haven't had any info from JACK other than a letter last winter, and I'm not expecting any offers lol.

Thanks for the info

JACK is 85 miles. We really liked it because we could get free room at Ritz. We have a Hollywood racino 20 minutes from house but never been. May use that for $40 afternoon fun. Also is a Hard Rock about 75 miles away and Meadows in Pa (Ida stomping grounds) about 75 miles away.

Thanks for the info. Looks like DH and I will be doing roadtrips to Louisville to stay with CET.

Thanks for the update Darrell. Just another reason for me not to venture over the border to gamble (besides the non smoking). Although the Meadows gets the majority of my play, I wish I had a CET property closer. The junket company I use lost their 150 seat planes for a while and only recently brought them back so besides hoping for at least 1 CET M&G a year, I usually have to make 1-2 trips to AC to keep Diamond. Really hoping for a lot of play in Hammond and if still short TC, I'll probably try to get to AC around Thanksgiving.

JACK Cleveland has gotten so bad that it almost feels like they are doing it on purpose.

It's been going downhill down there for a while now, predating the JACK announcement by a few months. I used to spend quite a bit of time in their HL area and most of my biggest jackpots have come from there. Stuff tightened up paywise down there about a year ago, around the time that I started noticing more of the other HL players I have nodding acquaintance with playing over in the Hard Rock HL room, and when it started to feel like security down there had started to get a bit more lax.

From reading the comments on their Facebook page the food and hotel comps have pretty much disappeared. I can't speak for how hotel worked before, because I never needed to use those and always declined whenever they were offered. But the food comps were very generously offered before and from what I read that is no longer the case.

The gift offers have also disappeared. I got so many nice things from them in the past. When my play there reduced the dollar values of gift cards went down and I got less high end offers but I still got offers that were generous enough to say hey I should probably plan to go there this day. I did get down there for a lot of play in the last few weeks that CET was there to get some points in for the Spring bonus, and given that had they still been on the CET system of calculating offers I'd be getting higher $ offers again. But so far I have seen nothing of substance worth my effort to go downtown.

If that is the case for everyone, which from what I read I suspect that it is, then it is no wonder there's no one there to tip the workers. I've also read that the points for free parking have gone up substantially, in terms of how much coin in you need to get it, which is probably another thing keeping people away. When the other two gambling joints in the area - Jack Thistledown and Hard Rock - are pretty easy to get to and offer abundant close free self parking for everyone - why go through the hassle.

I do have to say from my limited observations that the change to Jack doesn't appear to have hurt Thistledown at all. I pop in there occasionally when I'm over that way and no matter when I go it's still busy.
