View Full Version : When do you use your FP?

I guess answers could vary if it's a locals trip or a destination trip to Vegas or other casinos but, when during a trip do you use your FP?

At the beginning? End? Don't really have a planned time?

I don't really have a set time across all casinos. At MLife places, I tend to use my FP earlier in the trip and will convert my points for additional FP towards the end. I guess my plan for Cosmo would be similar although have had difficulty converting my points to Identity Play at the machines my last two trips.

Just curious if others like to use it right away to potentially get a great hit and not touch their BR (like Georgiagambler) or save it for the end to try and make sure you bring something home.

I always use it at the start of the trip and go for a big win on higher denom machines to further build up the bankroll.

I always use the FP at the beginning of the trip. For some reason I am paranoid that something will come up, like having to leave due to an emergency, and I will lose out on it. With the Point Play I wait until the very last night when I know my play is over for that visit and convert it then.

Always play it at the beginning of the trip. I also don't consider it as part of my bankroll therefore I do not include it in my "losing" numbers.

We'll use it generally if in a losing streak just to break things up. Almost all FP is played on JOB Poker and then use that cash as part of the BR.

I normally try to use it at the beginning of both a local trip.. And a Destination trip. I always hope that it will allow me to play the first day without too much of a dent to my bankroll. Local it pays off as I can leave if I am ahead.. On a destination.. I tend to blow it. I tried the dvandentop way to play at the end last trip to Vegas.. But was running low on funds and had to use it earlier to avoid the WOS.. Which I still made.. It was just delays it a bit.

We always wait until the last night. It's like a guarantee that if we are out of money, we can still play. I never think of it in terms of using it to make money, but rather to tide me over. Hahaha. As I type this, I realize how pessimistic that sounds. Point play is on the last morning.

If I'm alone I use it at the beginning, playing bigger bets...If I'm with my Wife we split it up and play some every day to extend the daily BR, normally still at bigger bets.

Always at the beginning for me. Like Zeus said, I'm always worried I may have to leave before when I planned, or that I may forget about it.

Plus I have had a few really lucky casino trips where I have won big on as little as $10 in freeplay and never had to touch my bankroll.

Point play I'll always do at the very end, since I usually want to use it up unless its one of my locals where I'll keep a lot of points banked for future use.

If I'm playing somewhere where I have immediate access to it, either through it being on my card or through mailer coupons, then I play it first before playing any money.

Rivers in Pittsburgh always makes me do one spin before the free play is activated and available to download. So there I usually play it at least one machine on cash before using my free play.

The only place that I play it later in the trip is Las Vegas at CET, because when I get FP on an offer I have to go pick up the coupons. I'm either easily confused or it changes based on the offer but sometimes I've had to go to TR first and then the cage and other times it was just the cage. So I just go to TR first and do all the stuff there I need to do, like my Diamond tickets or celebration dinner coupons, and ask about the free play and then go from there to the cage. Depending on my itinerary for the trip it can be a day or two before I get around to doing that. Then I figure out what I'm going to do with it. One time I had some odd amount that I won a bunch off of at some point, so I totally lost track of where I was using it. Thankfully the night before I headed home I reorganized my wallet and found a coupon I had forgotten to use stuck in a side pocket, so it ended up that the last gambling I did that trip was playing out the FP. For my next trip I'm trying to put together a plan for using it so that doesn't happen again.

I like to use my freeplay first before using my own money and hope to win enough to play on for awhile.

I've payed it at the beginning and the end. If at the beginning, I try to use it on new machines I've never played. If at the end, it's because I've held onto it so I know I have a little to play at the end.

Most times I forget about it until the end of my stay. Then use it up the last night. Once I forgot completely. Lol.

I use it within five minutes of arriving in the casino.

It is usually gone within five minutes of play. :(

As noted on my last Vegas trip in August, I used it all at the end! At my locals, I always use it first.

I tend to use it towards the end of my trip. If I win anything I usually donk it off on a high limit slot. [emoji16]

At the B, Adam uses it immediately, he has had a few trip where he never dipped into bankroll (it was awesome!). In Vegas, we tend to use it towards the end of the trip but will change that up next trip and stick to what has worked at the B and use it at the start. :)

Great question! Always use it first thing. Normally on a title I expect to play a good amount I like to warm it up on the casino's dime.
When I hit the Grand on Walking Dead I had only used my $200 FP and then $100 of my own.

I always use my Freeplay at the beginning of my trip. If I can convert Freeplay and play with their money instead of mine, it works better for me.

I will lump them all together and play before leaving.

I don't get much freeplay from anywhere other than CET, and with them I usually try to save the vouchers until I have a bunch and can blow them all at once. I did that a few times last year where I accumulated almost $1000 in free play vouchers. They usually don't expire until 6 months from when you get them, so it's easy to save up.

This next Vegas trip I'll have $750 to use at the Wynn. Most likely I'll be using that at the beginning of the trip, right when I go to check in to the room there (I'm not using the room but my friends are, so will need to check in for them). Hopefully I can turn it into something to make my BR last longer the rest of the trip!

Beginning, especially when I have a bigger bankroll I brought with me and I could bet higher on the freeplay to try and win more.

We used to stack our Freeplay from CET, we were basically converting the coupon to TITO, then saving them up to play all at one time. The issue is that we were not playing on the day we picked them up. But when we eventually did go play, we earned lots of TCs. We had no issues doing this for a long time then suddenly this year, Cherokee started blocking Freeplay from people that were doing this. It was really ugly and they blindsided a lot of people with no warning.

Just wrapped up a big thing for work and am trying to catch up on a few threads. ... First, I use my Freeplay right after I first start losing more than $100.00. Just habit, no particular reason.

And, speak of freeplay, this is a completely absurd FP offer! $11,000 -- you have got to be kidding me. (not as good as it sounds, it's spread out over the whole month, but still, it's such a huge amount of cash, I'm tempted to move to AC for a couple of weeks. Also, makes me wonder precisely how much I lost there to get this kind of offer.

DK528 -- I am interested in what Wynn is offering you to come back.

I have gambled there a bit off and on for a few years, never stayed and was getting $300 FP and mid-week room offers. I spent 4 hours there in June during my "White Whale" tour, hit the high limit area pretty hard (I still think about hitting the Top Dollar Bonus on a $50 spin and am still "disappointed" I only got $1000 out of it), hit a handpay on Stinkin' Rich and played $9/spin Davinci Double Diamond for about 2 hours (coming away even). I got this in Email the other day, which might be my best Vegas offer ever. Methinks I could easily double dip this with a FP offer at Venetian (would not double dip Cosmo -- they are actually too good to me) and maybe Triple Dip at GN Downtown (I hate, literally hate, that Casino for screwing me out of $190 in FP one time and they keep sending me stupid offers -- this time for $500 FP + Southwest Gift Cards, so I have no qualms about a Freeplay Smash and Grab there).

noleman, that's a great offer! All of those are very tempting :)

My Wynn offer actually decreased for the winter. For years, I got Sun-Thurs and $150-300 in FP. Last year or so, I've gotten all-day offers with $400 FP. The offer I got this week was back to Sun-Thurs and $300. So I'm a little offended but I think my play doesn't warrant more there? I think it's been fairly consistent over my last few trips in terms of coin-in.

I have the fortune of having a wife whose first name is only a single transposed letter from my own. She is not a gambler and only has a Total Rewards Card. I have considered having her get a card and then playing hard on that card and seeing what kind of offers show up -- you know for science purposes.
