Looks like we will be going to Vegas for New Years. It's been more than a year since we've been and so comps are practically non-existent. Looking for some suggestions and ideas on what to expect. We will probably get there either on the 30th or 31st, unless the rates are too high. We hadn't planned to go but family wants to meet up in Vegas and so why not, HHH.
What should we expect for NYE, besides prices through the roof.

Crowds and crowds, lol. Actually never been to Vegas NYE so I really can't give you good advice. I know Evoni and dvandentop have so maybe they can help you out. Nice to have something to look forward to, I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter what.

Never been on actually NYE but last year we left on the 30th. I will never go during that time again. Like Ida said, people everywhere!! We stayed at Palazzo and it was crazy. The only time we left was to walk to the Wynn and that was too much. Either way, I know you'll have fun but expect it to be crowded.

I went the first time during NYE four years ago and have been going every since. Each year I have been at the private VIP Aria party until past midnight so I didn't have to fight any crowds and up until last year when Aria was very crowded in the casino the previous years were not that bad in my opinion, at least not at Aria or at Wynn when I went to see friends there. However Vegas is pretty much busy year round the last year or more, so I'm a bit concerned about crowds this year in the casinos as far as getting to play my favorite games. Personally I don't think I could take the crowds in the street during NYE so perhaps look for a party that you can buy tickets to and usually there is information on the Vegas Trip Advisor board about various parties.
This year I didn't get the Aria NYE invite, though I got a bunch from Harrahs properties with the exception of CP and Cromwell. A couple weeks ago I had temporarily booked the party at Planet Hollywood just in case and was waiting to see if I could get anything else that would tempt me to go. Venetian/Palazzo still doesn't have their offers out but judging by what I heard of last year's party I won't use my invite when they send it. Today I heard from my host at The Cosmopolitan and she said my NYE offer was just loaded and it was 3 comped nights in a Terrace Suite, tickets to Weeknd on Friday the 30th and 2 tickets to Sting concert on the 31st and prix fixe dinner for two at any of their restaurants. I like Sting so I decided to book Cosmopolitan, though I might sneak away from his concert before midnight to watch the fireworks on my balcony as I have yet to see them being inside previous years at the Aria party.

I stayed Downtown NYE 2014-2015. It was "Tribute-palooza downtown. I was staying at the D so I was at the end of the crowds. It was crowded, but since a wristband was necessary to get onto Fremont St., the crowds were orderly. I took a movie of NYE on the FSE.
This year I got the standard CET invites, as well as Reno/Tahoe
My 90 year old Dad (with mild dementia) and 14 year old son both live with me so no Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Eve Las Vegas trips for awhile.

I would definitely not want to stand on the Strip during New Year's Eve it is wall-to-wall people for several miles good luck if you have to go to the bathroom or anything while standing outside.
The only way I would go for New Year's Eve is if I am invited to a party at one of the casinos or if I have a balcony room at Cosmo to hang out there for an hour or two in the room while the fireworks go off.
Well I would probably go even if I'm not invited to one of the parties and just enjoy the festivities of everybody having a good time in the casino around midnight also

I went to Vegas once for New Years. I attended the Mandalay Bay party which was great. Afterwards, I was going to just gamble but I ran into a friend I knew from VMB and he had a group of people with him. It was unplanned, but we walked down the center of the strip all the way to NYNY and watched the fireworks. It was fun to do with a group and we had some alcohol with us, but I experienced it once and don't plan to be outside again on New Years. I actually prefer going to my local and having a relaxed New Years. But I would consider Vegas again if I had a Fountain view at Cosmo. Not concerned about party invites, though my mlife host says I can go to whichever one I want.
Enjoy your Vegas New Year's!

I went last year for new years for my first time ever. Something I had always wanted to do and finally did it. Stayed at Bally's since I booked it kind of late, but had a decent room there comped. It was pretty busy, the casino was the busiest I have ever experienced but could still find stuff to play. There was an excitement in the air though which was kind of neat.
I did the "stand in the street" thing last year too, just wanted to experience it and had some friends who moved to Vegas and never did it too. It was really fun actually for the most part- got out there about 11:30 and was around the front of the LINQ. However- after midnight there was the big crush of people trying to get out of the street and around. you couldn't move and people were almost getting trampled on. I was stuck in that for about 30 minutes and it was a horrible thing, would never do again for that reason.
Also, plan how you are going to get around early. They start to close off Las Vegas Blvd around 9pm. You can't get any sort of transportation from your hotel around then- have to walk or at least walk to one of the streets way off strip and try. Uber was surging 8x at least all night and traffic on the other streets wasn't moving at all. And it's really cold there then, I assumed it would be like our weather in Phoenix but it was much colder, like 30 degrees at night.
That being said though, I would do it again and have been thinking about it this year. But I would certainly want to make some sort of plan ahead of time for what to do that night and make sure you can get there.

Well, looks like I got excited for nothing :(. Even though we have the time off, the flight and room charges insane. I can plan 4 trips for what this one will cost. Damn, being adult sucks sometimes.

Linda and I've been to Vegas 4 times this year, all using her card. We finally made Diamond the other day. After making Diamond, I dusted off my TR card which hasn't been used at all since Halloween of 2014. I put just over 500 TC in one day using a combo of low rolling and the 2X TC machines at Bally's at $5/spin.
I log into Linda's TR account and look at the calendar for NYE. Dec 30 and 31 at PH are $90/$90. I log into my account and Dec 30 and 31 at PH are comp/comp.
I had no comps at all available at all at any CET Vegas casino before this trip, I now have almost every night comped for any CET Vegas casino.
Figure that one out?

Hey TAB, tell them you're gonna strangle their ravens if you don't get a room on NYE!

Taking the NYE plunge for the first time. Staying at PH and signed up for their party.
It's been a long time since I had an invite to a Vegas NYE, going to find out what it's all about :)

We went a few years ago and was comped Britney tickets (which ended at around 1130) then went up,to the room which had champagne waiting and watched the fireworks from there. It was BEAUTIFUL! The crowds down below were INSANE but we would gladly do it again if we were childless. They wouldn't let people into the casino unless they had room key cards. So glad we went from the show straight to our room. The whole vibe of Vegas on NY is just awesome! I highly recommend it!

Do you have "upscale party attire"? That was the only party that had that request.

You are up there with Platinum Kenny then! I got NYE offers to all properties except CP/Cromwell as well. Can't go, but it goes to show they will throw a bone at us small people to hopefully become big people.

I've had various invites over the years but we don't like crowds and go the day after Christmas and leave on the 30th. We have seen snow three times during that week though!
BTW, I got the big envelope with various invites to the CET properties too - based only on my play (or loss?) at KC in February. The "upscale party attire" jumped out at me too HA HA!

Yep Bill got the invites for all CET properties except CP/Cromwell. Not headed that way during the winter.

What I have been told (by my host) is that Caesars is expecting a lot of VVIPs from the Far East and they set their standards a little higher this year.
Funny, last year I was invited to Caesars, but apparently my play pattern was "sub-standard" this year . . .
