The grand opening of the Ilani Casino opening up on April 24th. Construction as you drive by looks pretty large. Will have 2500 slots and 75 table games.

It is being developed and managed by Mohegan Tribe (Mohegan Sun) but belongs to the local Cowlitz Tribe.

Any thing particularly bad or good regarding gaming at Mohegan Sun one should consider? Only class 2 slots allied in Washington.

About 7 miles north of me.

Since this property will be managed by the Mohegan Sun folks, can anyone tell me what their photo/video policy is? Without more, I assume it will be similar.

If I can finish some correspondence and pack for AZ before noon today, I am going to go check the new casino out on its first day. Luck???!!!

Mohegan Sun, CT is my preferred local because it is much cleaner and fresher than the neighboring place. I consider it on par with the better mid-level Vegas casinos. It has a good variety of restaurants, a decent buffet, great entertainment and nice clean rooms. There is a good variety of slots, including high limit, and it seems like lots of tables.

I take pictures of wins with no issue. I don't video though, so not sure if they care about that.

I don't win any more or less than anywhere else, but that's because I seem to lose everywhere :sour:

I hope it turns out to be a good one for you!

Insanely busy. Every degenerate west of the Mississippi must have been trying to get a free t-shirt. Haha

Never made it there. I-5 shut down for 9 miles in both N and S directions. Raining like a northwest sob.

Had my gortex going and some guy topped me by commandeering a boat.

Get back from AZ tomorrow. Plan to get early Saturday morning and hit casino bride still in sweetheart mode. Haha..

LL123 no not warm. Goretex is super thin/light. Built to layer. But the two coats I have are also wind proof. More like shells. The do have goretex coats that are insulated and the also have parkas.

Finally made it to Ilani yesterday morning about 830 am.

I found out what is causing all the traffic jams - the county let the tribe go cheap by installing turning 3 turning circles instead of traffic signals. No way can turning circles handle north and south bound freeway exit traffic.

As week as their sign display is, the casino is a very nice property. I think they used the same firm that does the Bellagio interior displays. A lot of blown glass ornaments, displays and structures exist throughout.

Surprisingly it was a large gaming room. I would say 3 times the size of Ballys with 2500 machines. The high limit room was non-description - non of the window/door glass on the property is smoke so you could tell what time one day it might be. Another note on the HL room - two ladies where playing a buffalo machine next to me and repeatedly ask me how to calculate what they were wagering per spin - they were curious since I was playing Ken style. Anyway I should them several times but the one lady kept hitting max bet (10 bucks) and stacks a slew of buffalo for 9 grand and change. Oh well, I came out ahead 6 bucks from the HL room.

I didn't hear a lot of bonuses, but the machine volumes were low - fantastic! I was up about 350 at one point and managed to come home with 160.

One week in, they are still getting some of the wrinkles ironed out. I asked several employees and two slot management employees what the tier point earning ratio is no one could tell me. Several said it was a secret formula. Haha. Maybe one of you Mohegan Sun vets can inform.

I've gone there 3 times so far. Unfortunately, there are no regular Meltdowns, just 5 $5 & 6 $1 Mega Meltdowns. The only quarter machines I could find are 9 lines, & you have to play all the lines. I say unfortunately, because my parents live down that way, & going to that casino would cut close to 100 miles off my 250 mile round trip to take Dad on a casino outing. He prefers to play regular Meltdown, quarter version. I put him on a dollar machine with a respin feature, but he lost & hated that. Then we found a five-line dollar machine that was sort of a Wheel of Fortune with a Playboy theme that allows you to bet $1 & the Spin symbol is a scatter so you still get the wheel. He liked that one because he got the bonus several times & got his money back. I played the one around the corner & lost $100. I think you're actually better off playing one credit because the bonus payouts didn't seem to be any higher on max bet.

One good thing is that they tier-match with the nearest other casinos, and they serve food in the VIP lounge. Valet parking is free for the top tier card, otherwise it costs $4. Apparently you cannot use points for slot play. I sure hope you can buy gas cards, because I have over $300 in points.

Well, can't buy gas cards. You can buy gift cards good at their restaurants & shops, so I might do that & give them to any relatives that might stop there.

Not a clue, but the tier match got me top tier at Ilani.

Have not been able to get gift cards with my points, the one time I tried, the system had not been set up & they couldn't reach the supposedly on-call tech. We used up $80+ at the sushi restaurant one night, and another $80+ at the seafood restaurant last time we were there. Where, incidentally, I discovered my new favorite thing, "lobster corn doggies", skewered pieces of lobster rolled in cornmeal & deep fried.
