So I went to Grazie desk to unlock some of my slot redemption credits. I have a new enhanced Washington driver's lic. Well their computer couldn't scan it. Then agent took ID somewhere and I waited 15 mins. She came back and said I couldn't access my acct. I was getting angry. She asked if I had any other ID , like a passport . Lol. I asked for supervisor. She took my ID away.....
Meanwhile I asked agent, what if I'd gotten a jackpot? She said they'd hold it till I brought a valid id. !!! This is what the US govt wants us to have. It's the most valid ID we have. Not to mention I'd have to return to get my winnings. Not a prob for me. But others may not be able to. I wonder if I could take it up with gambling commish.
Anyways, she unlocked my credits. Had to sign for it. I think used expired ID in system.

Wow. What a pain. So sorry you had to deal with that. New technology is great unless the rest of the world has not caught up with it. I hope you get great luck with the redemption credits after all of that.

Did it scan when you went through TSA?

No prob. Tsa wants Washington residents to get this ID by October. All other casinos , no prob.

I believe California residents will have to have it by October, too.

Good to know TAB. I was going to go in and get the most up to date secure license So I could use it for domestic travel without having to bring passport everywhere. I think you have to pay extra for it.
Is this the one you have?
Had trouble with license in Laughlin at one casino. They wouldn't give it back for some reason. Next thing I know I'm surrounded by security and management arguing they have to give back or otherwise they were committing ID theft. They had no standing to keep it so after about 20 minutes of me getting more and more vocal about it they gave it back. And then welcomed me to gamble - that wasn't going to happen.
Glad you got your promo.
I'm at a point where I bring a second ID now when I travel. After that Situation I had last month in Vegas where they thought I was using a fake ID when I got a jackpot it's becoming more of an issue

Sounds like Shelly needs to spend money on updating his systems instead of those gawd-awful dye jobs for his remaining few strands of hair.
That has got to be a turnoff to the slotters. Glad you got your credits. That would have changed my mood.

I agree with Zeus, come on uncle Sheldy time to update those systems!
So far Pennsylvania is still all like, yeah we are making a new ID, but it's not going to have Real ID. They keep getting extensions and claim it may be available by 2019. I need to setup an appointment to get a passport, just in case I'd like to fly.

Bill and I got the new Illinois ones last year. As yet haven't had any problems but also haven't had any HP's either.

I think the govt clamp down in the last few years on money being laundered thru casinos and underage folks has them spooked. Common sense is leaving the building. Maybe uncle Donald can stop the coming insanity, him being a casino guy. Like raise the $1200 threshold to $5K, some benefits to casinos if they did that.

Yes. It's the most secure ID washington has.

Did you see that it's at least being discussed about raising to 5k

kdk, it would be a great win for the gamblers, but I am afraid that the IRS, government, and anyone else involved would be against losing out on every dollar they can get their greedy hands on. I hope I am wrong on this like I am on everything else.

I didn't know it was suggested yet by someone in charge. I have little confidence that our Federal govt will actually do something that would benefit everyone.

I had a similar, although lesser problem at Wynn. I needed a replacement players card and my free play, but their system didn't recognize my NH license, (the enhanced version that I got in March), which will supposedly be required by TSA within the next couple of years. After a little running around & a coupe of phone calls they were able to take care of me. These casinos need to get with the program!

I'm sorry for all the trouble you had Tab. That's just crazy.
I thought Minnesota was one of the last holdouts for the enhanced ID but I guess not. I think I'll just skip it and use the regular ID and my passport.
At Mystic Lakes they just installed a kiosk where you can get a new players card by just inserting your driver's license and putting in you pin number. I wonder if they programmed that for the enhanced IDs?

Probably ok. Grazie has always been way behind the curve on tech issues.

Sorry to hear ya had a problem .weve had our own set of issues with the Grazie desk (ill tell ya about it some time ) i guess im not understanding the problem at these casinos . im Assuming (yes i know that's dangerous )that these IDs still have a picture of the person in question and their name , address & dob below that . what else would they need ? anything else on the licence that they could possibly discern would be non-sequitur to the casinos security needs .
Boy, am I out of the loop. What is an enhanced DL? Ken was telling me about his episode in Vegas, but I thought it was just a one time thing.

They are designed to make it harder for terrorists and criminals to hide. They have all sorts of anti counterfeit technology making them much harder to duplicate. Another security measure derived from the 9/11 attacks. Ours are not even available yet here in CA and the current law is that we all need to have it by 2020 (in CA only, unaware of other states status).

Yeah, I think it was brought up because of the potential tax cut bill. It could end up thrown in there, although it also may come with the loss of deductions including gambling losses, so it could be a good thing but not as good, will have to see.

Thanks for the heads up Ken. I don't think my Ca license is updated to new system yet, but I could start bringing my passport if needed.
