View Full Version : Free play suggestions

I am coming to the experts for some advice. Next month in Vegas we have $375 in free play at Planet Hollywood and $200 at Aria. With our free play we normally just play it through on our regular slots at our regular bets.

I am thinking that we should maybe use the opportunity to play a little bigger than the norm. Like some $1 WOF at $5 a spin. Or maybe a $5 slot 1 credit. Maybe Buffalo at max $4. Just something out of the norm that could end in a nice result. We would not be out anything if nothing hit.

So, what would do you suggest?

At pho I'd play buffalo at max. They always seem loose there. At Aria, maybe a .25c vid game like diamond queen or Valhalla at $5 a spin. Maybe I can watch you play like a high Roller when I'm there.

It just dawned on me that Elf hit it huge on 2 cent Cleo II at $4 max. The Ho has several near the Earl. Possibly $100 through it?

On the high roller, it will be short lived. [emoji14]

It's so much fun trying something different with free play. I would try some of it on $1 video poker, but you probably wouldn't enjoy it. I have had some nice surprises doing that! I have had decent luck on quarter Kitty Glitter and DaVinci diamonds betting 15-20 quarters a spin, but I don't know if you will find those at PHo or Aria. Have fun with it whatever you choose!

And YES to Cleo II! I love that game and the potential is there for a huge hit!!

I can't help you with Aria since I've never even been there before...*gasp* And as far as PHo goes, I couldn't hit ANYTHING there my last trip! I had a lot of success at Bally's Buffalo betting $2 and $4 spins but it sounds like your FP is only good at PHo?

Any particular? I don't know reels very well. I like the Diamond one where the diamonds will shift up or down. I think it is something like Double Diamond Deluxe, or something like that.

At Aria I'd try the quarter machines right outside the HL room. Both DK528 and I have had some good hits on the first Cleo II machine right outside the HL room. I've also had great luck on the Diamond Queen machine on the opposite side of that bank of machines. Both are $5 a pull. Hope you hit big! And yes, my big Cleo II hit was on a 2 cent machine at $4.

Here's what you do buddy. Ask for chips instead of slot play. Take them to the roulette table play a dollar on every single number, including the two green...this will cost you $38 each time but the payout on the number you hit will pay you $36 for a loss of only $2. Lots of extra work but you will get back about 94 percent of your money...instead of losing it all like you usually do lol. :).

GG, that is more than my brain could handle. Plus the other folks playing at the table would be looking at me funny, or irritated as hell, as I stand there with my notepad reading my notes on what to do. [emoji54]

We play all FP through video poker JOB. Average around 95% payback over last couple of years. Then take that money and play what you normally do not play and get credit for the higher play on your players card which will boost your ADT. JOB easy to learn on FREEVIDEOPOKER.com. Normally play $1 machines as they have better pay tables. VP can be fun for stretches it is a participation type game.

I will check the site out. The two times we have played VP, at the KC M&Gs, we had the "deer in the headlights" look on our faces because we were just that freaking clueless.

When I go with Michelle we have been using it on dollars and hope to win something, like 3 line pinball or a5 line....i like total meltdown or high voltage for that random respin. When I go with my friend, if he's playing on my card we take the freeplay and each add equal money in with it then play bigger like nickels or max bet on pennies and then split any wins...adding the money makes it last longer and let's us play "big" longer

Don't kid yourself Don. VP is definitely a higher payback and strategy is relatively easy to learn, but you and I both know it will bore you silly. And I am right there in that same boat with you. We must be entertained at all times! Not to mention that all logic goes out the door after a few cocks [emoji483]

Sort of like reels. The payback is typically better, but after a few moments I am bored out of my mind.

Planet Hollywood has three of the NEW Bier Haus (Beer Tap buy-a-bonus) game which several of us had a long term play recently. If you want to make your free play last or cash out the wins from the free-play draw-down, this game's low volatility is great- and the catchy bonus round theme song is addicting.

I agree, try the freeplay in something you wouldn't normally play. I have saved some of my trips because of this- my only big win comes out of it.

After being at PH for a week in May I can pretty much remember every machine still I think. I tried a $5 double diamond machine in the HL room. It actually let me play forever on $100 going up and down and I eventually cashed out at my $100. It wasn't the deluxe with the arrows, just the regular one against the back wall. There's at least one of the deluxe ones in dollars outside of HL that you can change up to $2 or $5. I also tried a 2x3x4x5 $5 reel in the HL room and it did good too, ended up a little bit ahead. I would try at least $100 of it in one of those games. I find that even as bad as the slot paybacks are on the Vegas strip the $5 reels are set pretty good. I always say I'm going to just play those but never stick to it.

I have also done pretty well on the Cleo II games there. I think they only have two left now, up in the front, that you can change the denominations on. I seem to do the best on nickles on those, even better than if I played them at the 10 cent level.

The buffalo stampedes do seem to play well for me there, like others have said. I usually see a handpay or two on them every time. If you are going to bet big on a penny slot these might be the ones to try.

If you try VP, they don't have much in the way of good games anymore there. There's still a bank of 7/5 Bonus Poker if you are willing to play dollars ($5 per hand). The rest of the casino downgraded to 6/5 or less. These will at least let you play for a bit and if you hit a 4OAK you'll be good. I also still love to play the Dream Card poker games there, my first and only dealt royal came from one of those last year.

Thanks for the great input! Happy to hear they have the Deluxe at PHO. For some reason it is one reel that does not bore me. I know in September they had three Cleo II slots up near Earl, so glad to hear they stll have at least two. Stampede has been good to me there.

Now on V/P, you lost me on the 7/5 and 6/5. [emoji54] But that is okay because I really don't think I will even try it. When I am cocked up, any chance of thinking flies right out the door. [emoji23] And V/P requires some thought.

Thanks again for all of your input! Especially since you were recently there.

Never did care much for Double Diamond Deluxe for some reason. Good feature with the diamonds pointing down to move down to the payline if it finishes above the payline and vice versa. Just never could hit anything on that game.
