View Full Version : Wasn't nhcris cruising to Bermuda?

I just thought I would do a quick update (oops it turned into a very long sob story) on our Bermuda cruise that was to be followed by the AC M&G.

So, on Saturday July 29th we dropped the pups off at camp and headed to the New England Air Museum as planned. Traffic sucked and it took almost 3 hours but we had plenty of time to enjoy it and saw everything we were interested in. It's a good take and I would recommend it.

5424
5425
After a stop at Blue Colony Diner for dinner, we spent the night at the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury, CT. I wouldn't hurry back but it served the purpose.

We left there about 8 am and traffic was nice and light. We arrived at the port and parked in the parking garage and were onboard by 11:30. We had a quick uninspired lunch in the buffet. Then we wandered the ship for awhile until the staterooms were ready. I had selected one of the Sweet Sixteen cabins, which are located forward and happen to have double depth balconies. The room was small but the balcony made up for it.

5426
5427
After the lifeboat drill, Frank was feeling a little off and very tired so he took a nap. He slept through dinner, so at about 8:45 we grabbed a bite at the buffet. It was even more uninspired than lunch but whatever. I had visited the casino for a little while, but it was boring and I left after it took $50. We turned in early.

Next morning I woke up to a phone call from the Medical Office. My darling husband had snuck off to medical without telling me. Long story short, they thought he had a kidney stone. Well, he was in agony. After a couple IV's, they sent him back to the room with pain meds and antibiotics. He didn't tolerate the meds well, and I am going to just say that the next couple days were sheer hell as we were at sea until Wednesday. oh, and it fucking poured all day Tuesday so I couldn't eveN sit on the balcony.

5428With zero assistance from Celebrity, I made flight arrangements to get his ass home to his doctors. Somewhere in here, my feet went to shit (probably from running back and forth to the buffet trying to find food for frank) and I since figured out it was planter fasciitis. NOT FUN!

Going through Immigration and getting to the airport in Bermuda was pretty unpleasant. I so wanted to jump out of the cab and into the water, I cannot even tell you. Walking up the jetway my feet hurt so bad, I was moaning "Shit fuck piss sonofabitch" with every step. Someone surely thought I had Tourretes Syndrome. We finally made it home Wednesday evening, and Thursday we saw his doctor and had a CT scan where it was confirmed that he had a kidney stone. Next day we saw the urologist, and were told that it was in a position that lithotripsy wouldn't work, and there was a good chance that he could pass it.

Meanwhile, my car is in New Jersey. I had already screwed poor clemi over as she was planning to go to AC and then ride with me to MoSun and I was dropping her off at the airport in Boston for her flight home. Poor Thelma (Carol) was planning on meeting me in Newark to get away for her first vacation since her dad passed and she took over as full time caregiver for her mom.

Well, by Saturday he had not passed the stone so Carol and I cancelled all reservations. My car was still sitting in NJ. Damned if Sunday morning at 9:15 he didn't pass that son of a bitching stone who we christened Rocky.

I jumped on the horn with Jet Blue and they gave me full credit for Frank's flight and the flight I had previously booked. I can't say enough about how helpful they were every single time I called them with a change. I booked Carol and I on a flight and she had gone online and grabbed us a room (again) at Harrahs and within an hour she picked me up and we headed to Logan.

Damn flight was delayed over an hour, so by the time we got the car out of the creepy garage (absolutely no one was anywhere on property and it took us a bit to find the automated checkout but eventually we did). We got to AC just after 8 which was too late for the M&G. SO we gambled and lost haha. As the evening progressed, we ran into most of the Jokers (Laurie & Foamy, Kenny, Ida & Kevin, Mimi & Jeff, Kathy & Adam, curlyd, and the Penguins, and possibly more) that were staying at Harrah's. They were all pretty surprised to see us!! I was so exhausted I forgot to take pictures but it was wonderful to get so many Joker hugs :)

Monday I thought I would be smart and surprise the Borgata folks, as I had decent free play over there at noon. Well, you can guess how that went, right? We were at Borgata and they had gone to Harrahs. After running in circles trying to hook up, I never did get to see @Borgatadd (http://jokerswildforum.com/member.php?u=60), @emmas (http://jokerswildforum.com/member.php?u=89), Margie, or any of the other Borgata Brats. Dumb move on my part to try to surprise them! I did walk away with a little over $100 win on my free play though :)

Thema and I did have a lovely lunch at NOW and then headed to the Boardwalk to hit up Bally's and Caesar's for a wee bit of Stumble, and saw just a very few Jokers. I made a bit at Bally's and gave it to Caesar's. Then we Ubered back to Harrahs while the gang enjoyed Carmine's. Later that evening I was heading to bed and finally ran into a few more Jokers on the way. Lillian, Rob & Naomi, jennifer, I am so happy we at least got to say Hi!!

Carol & I hit the road early Tuesday and stopped at Foxwoods for the night. Gambling there was atrocious as usual. Wednesday morning we stopped at Twin River and I won a few bucks on my Free Play, then dropped Carol off in Central Parking at Logan (I could do a whole trip report about that little excursion but I will spare you) and I came home and crashed.

Old Frank is doing fine! My car is in the driveway and this is all just a memory now. I sure as shit hope the next M&G goes a little more smoothly!

Kidney stones aren't fun anywhere....but at sea, OMG! Plantar fasciitis is like walking on broken glass!
Pulling that you have a better time at the next M&G.

Chris, I hate that your week turned in to such a shit show. Poor Frank. That had to have been miserable as hell for him. But I guess the one good thing was that you got to spend a little time with some Jokers.

I know several people who have dealt with planter fascist and have sworn by Crocs. Hope you get relief soon.

I'm glad hubby is better. What an awful vacay for him. I can't imagine. Salvaging your vacay to AC was a happy finale.
I hope you'll be able to walk around in Vegas ok. If not , they rent scooters.[emoji12]

We did have a lot of fun playing at Harrah's. I had some decent wins although I ended up a big ass loser. I did get over 1200 points on Monday, which is a lot for me, so I continue the trek to Diamond.

Love this game but as usual could not get a bonus.

I also had a $287 hit on that Genie game with the Konami's attached to it. Pretty sweet but I forgot the picture.

Had comped buffet at Harrahs. It was very good.

The AC portion of the trip really was fun. Being with Jokers makes everything alright ♥️

Yes, walking on broken glass describes it perfectly! One foot seems to have returned to normal, and the other is somewhat improved. I have been resting my feet. Haha, meaning I have been sitting on my ass for 2 days and it does seem to be helping. My husband is back to as close to normal as he gets :D

Thanks owls!

Thanks darlin'. I really had fun in AC once I shook off the bad luck from the early stuff. Just knowing Frank was gonna be okay was a huge relief.

I just might have to pull out my old crocs. They make such a lovely fashion statement :nevreness: No laughing at me!

It's sounds like an awful experience on the cruise. What a shame you weren't able to enjoy that balcony. Glad your hubs is better and you got some gambling and M&G in. I've had planter fascist. It hurts! Hope you heal quickly.

Wow! Sorry things got so crazy for you. However, it looks like things settled down and glad you were able to see some of the jokers. Can't believe you getting to Borgata the same time Margie and i got to Harrah's. Hope to see you in AC before year end. I hope your foot is doing better. Vegas is no fun when our feet aren't happy. Also very happy Frank is doing fine.

It was absolutely wonderful seeing you!!! I thought I was seeing a mirage for a split second, lol. So happy you & Carol were able to spend alittle time gambling and having fun.

Good to hear you & Frank are getting back to normal. After all that, you deserve some time just sitting on your ass and relaxing!

Dang, so sorry about all the trouble you had. Glad Frank is ok, coming from someone who went through it, that shit hurts like hell!! I can't even imagine that pain on a boat. Glad you were able to make it to AC. Hope your next casino outing is much better.

Holy crap!! What a shit show!! Glad hubby doing better. Stones are really painful. Sorry about the feet. Personally I think Crocs do set a fashion statement that says "not inclined to be a conventional type person". hhh Just fits with the Jokers.

Well now that I hear more details of your trip I'm really, really happy you and Carol got away for a bit! So great getting hugs from you and Carol and seeing those beautiful faces of yours! Wish we could have had a full day together but that will be the next meet for sure. What a relief that Frank is better and your PF is improving. Kevin had it and the mornings were the worse. He could barely move some days when he would roll out of bed! Hoping you get some relaxation in Vegas.

Glad hubby is back to almost normal and that you've been resting your feet. Also glad you were able to get a few days in AC and throw off some of that bad mojo, but sorry I didn't get to see you. continue to rest and the best to you and hubby.

@NHChris - It was such a TREAT to see you again and Mett Thelma. I am glad Frank passed the stone.. hopefully it is a one time thing. See about that Gallbladder issue we discussed - I have had no stones since I had mine removed. Also -the planter faciatis - couple suggestions. Frozen Water bottle - roll your foot on it.. it helps to break up the tightness. I sleep in a foot brace that pulls my foot forward which keeps the heal stretched. I have also seen a chiropractor - and it took the worst pain away. If the chiropractor does something called Graftbar or something like that it helped my BEST FRiend and she has never had problems. Shoes are important. My Birkenstocks helps, because they don't allow my heal to wiggle around and they have a little support on the sides.

Hopefully we will meet again soon. How about KC for SuperBowl? Or if I ever get based my negative Keith memories of Las Vegas, I may head back there if some Jokers are going to be there. I agree with Natalie, with all the Shit you went through.. you were still able to smile that beautiful smile. You are an amazing trooper.

It was great to see you again, and especially seeing you look so fit and strong! I am definitely penciling KC in for the Super Bowl, although every damn time I go away for Super Bowl the Pats make it in. As far as negative memories associated with Vegas, I am quite sure that one good Joker trip out there will shoo them away forever!

I am in the process of looking for better shoes for the PF, and I may try one of the braces. I just tossed a water bottle in the freezer and will try that out this evening. Thanks! Luckily it is only one foot now, so that helps.

I told himself about your GB experience, and he gave me the blank stare as usual. Hopefully it penetrated his stubborn skull.

No Coushatta for us, but I know you will have a blast. I'll be looking for another handpay from you :D

Nhcris sorry for your foot pain but I had to chuckle over your description of walking up the jetway with all the cuss words. Do you wear any shoe inserts ? I got my Dr Scholls inserts at WalMart where you step on the testing machine and it tells you which insert you need. Made all the difference for me. Glad DH is on the mend. Take care of yourself.
