I transferred my payback post from another bulletin board site since it was having issues and don't want to lose it if something happens there as it did to another relic bulletin board site many of us were on a few years ago. This took too much work over too many years to have it just vanish. Interesting to see how so many of these games are still on the casino floors, for now! Enjoy the data!

I have a couple of questions.
.. I'm not seeing the pattern, but I scanned the lists and I think maybe I'm just overwhelmed and not the brilliant statistician you are. :) What is the biggest thing that pops out for you?
.. Most of the machines here and nowhere to be found anymore. I'm not in Vegas frequently, only really in PA and NJ, so are these machines still plentiful in other areas?
.. Looks like you stopped keeping track 2-3 years ago, and I think a lot has changed in that amount of time. Anything super obvious to you that has changed since you collected your original data?
.. I do notice that I miss some of the games you have listed that I simply have not seen in Idunnowhen. :(

Many of these games are still found in casinos, especially in Nevada and on Cruise Ships.
The reason I stopped is that, in the short term, you will not experience these paybacks. Game VOLATILITY will determine your bankroll life and unless you make 100,000 spins, you will not approach even just a 90% chance of the payback range that is advertised. Look at this stat for the numbers of hands (or slot spins) are needed to get close to any advertised payback return:
I will keep it simple, but here is an example of a 90% confidence interval on a 9/6 Jacks or better Video Poker played mathematically perfectly. The same can be said for slot play although at a much lower payback range, substituting number of spins for number of hands. So this gives you an example of why we can have wild swings and how you would really need about 1,000,000 hand/spins to approach any advertised "payback" range... Slotspert

Number of Hands.... Payback intervals
1,000.....................76.5%-122.6%
10,000...................92.3%-106.8%
100,000................. 97.2%-101.8%
1,000,000.............. 98.8%-100.3%
10,000,000............. 99.3%-99.8%
100,000,000........... 99.5%-99.6%
1,000,000,000......... 99.5%-99.6%

P.S. For your brain's comfort, slots spins are always "played" perfectly whereas video poker hands are usually not.

Actually, if you cruise you will find many of these games still on the cruise ships. Also, Nevada casinos are FULL of these games, especially the off strip properties. I just got off the NCL Jade and played the original CASHMAN on the ship! Full slot floor videos of cruise ship slot games are found on: https://www.youtube.com/user/slotspert99

I'm a little surprised these games you have listed from the last few years don't have a lower floor. I have to believe there a many new slots, particularly in NV, that can be cranked down below 85%

Patterns of percentage paid out are great if they work . all i ever hear about any more on any of these new classes of slot machines are "its all random' no pattern to be followed ...im not convinced . i have found some patterns . for instance while playing on multi dom units ( a good example of this would be the Buffalo series of games ) it seems to pay more often on upper level bets or as i like to think of it as bets not as likely to be made by a player as compared to low end bets that are Highly likely to be made by a player . now that could relate to set percentage payout perimeters i dont know & its not all way consistent i will say that.

Your right and we have not yet begun discussing "server" based games. New Jersey must be set to pay back a minimum of 83%, while games in Nevada have a lower limit of 75%. On average, the payout percentage for most slots ranges from 82% to 98%. Thats why, in the short run, its really all about game volatility for bankroll life.

I remember that list, Slotspert! Have you compared to the actual numbers produced by Vegas casinos?? I believe they report the results by different regions of Vegas, (i.e. the Strip, Downtown area, etc.)

I did and because you do get those "million" spin results amongst the Vegas casinos at their different game denominations, you definitely get the confidence interval result ranges proving Strip hotels pay worse!

Playing Devil's Advocate, it is unlikely you are seeing a "pattern" as that would be illegal. Some games (and you have to read the rules) do payback a higher return on higher bets. Even then, it would take 1000's of spin to really notice that and even then, it would boil down to game volatility. Example: the lousy Ainsworth games or several versions of IT's Money Rain games- great hit frequency, but try to win big and its unlikely. Compare that to the Lightning Link Games- Get into a bonus round and you will do decent, but the base game eats away at your bankroll.

First Update in 6 years!. Why not, since it may ignite a new interest in paybacks again. Strange how to look back over six years ago and see most of these games are gone. Look at bottom of post #1, Page #1 of this thread for latest update and payback range. The "other" replacement slot bulletin board site is almost completely inactive, so I am afraid it will vanish like the original Slot Machine Forum did 8 years ago (for those that remember):

Strictly Slots Magazine was the primary source in the past. There are also some Slot PAR sheets roaming around the internet like this one that shows the payback range and standard deviation from 1000 to 10,000,000 pulls

The original Slot Fanatics site seems to be gone/discontinued/closed. Thankfully I brought over this data from the original forum some of you still remember from over 13 years ago. This is probably the last and only carryover data post from the "old testament" of the slot world where it really all started with Shamus back so many years ago.
