I am very impressed with this Air Fryer I received as a Christmas gift!

My video review...(NOT Carb Friendly! HHH)

And the fish turned out great and quick, about 10 minutes with no flipping

Great start CPT! It sure came out a pretty golden brown. Maybe not low carb, but sure healthier than deep fried in oil! I think we Keto folk could figure out a way to 'bread' fish that would work for Keto.

We ground up pork rinds and it made a good breading and used almond flour they were both good.

Ken, the first batch looks better to me! But are you having hotdogs for breakfast? For a week?

I am waiting for you to do chicken wings. I hear they are awesome, and would be my main reason for investing in one of these.

I'd have to agree, but the 2nd batch is definitely more crunchy if you are into that kind of thing haha This meal prep for next week, getting it out of the way and done. I will have to get some wings and do some "real", non-frozen wings. Believe it or not I am capable of cooking something not frozen! HHH Stay tuned!

We've had an air fryer for over a year and honestly it is just one more gadget on the counter. Of course, that probably has more to do with the fact that I cook very little anymore. I had mixed results when we first got it and I tried a few things in it. My son loves cooking Totino's Pizza rolls in it. Hmmm, maybe those quick processed meals we have been eating just might be contributing to the extra pounds that have appeared. Chicken wings sounds good, I think I'll look for a good recipe and pick some up and try them for supper tonight.

Oh yes, would be worth every penny! No preheating your oven to make just a few things, pop it in there, and go. Still haven't done the fresh wings yet, but no doubt they will turn out well as well. The air fried Brussels sprouts came out great, a little overdone like I like it. I haven't made anything in the oven or stove since I got it.

That's my problem. I have a small kitchen, and since KETO I have a line of small appliances that I use regularly. Keurig (of course), Instant Pot, Spiralizer/Food Processor, Immersion Blender, & a Magic Bullet (doesn't that sound like a sex toy?) Then there's all the ones in the cabinet, like the toaster, hand mixer, waffle iron, panini press, back up coffee maker, and some I can't even see back in the corner. I fear that is where the Air Fryer would end up, so I am not ready yet.

Ok, we've played around with the air fryer, sorry, forgot pics! And I think "fryer" is a bit of a misnomer. It's more an air crisper. Things come out much more evenly browned and crispy than if you baked them in the oven, but by no means does it taste fried. We did panko pork chops last night, they were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, but I think they would have tasted better sautéed in olive oil, lol!
Is it a super healthy way to cook, yes! Does it replace a craving for fried food, no.
Trying fries this weekend, so far we've only done proteins. The juiciness it retains is definitely a plus over baking in the oven! And food is super crispy.
Also haven't tried processed frozen foods in it do those might taste "more fried" since they have fat built into them.
Will try to remember to post pics!

I think you will find the processed food is more of a crisp than a fry as well. Very good comparison, I think you are spot on. Look forward to hearing more air fryer talk! :)

CPT CTslotters Do you ever add a tablespoon of cooking oil to the bottom of the fryer? I've found that this makes things much crispier. I kind of drizzle the oil on the bottom of the basket, most of it falls through so it's not super fattening but it seems to do the job better for crisping.

I read that as a trick but the instructions says specifically not to do that, lol! I might get risky soon and try it but I don't want to break the new toy!
I didn't find lack of crispy the issue, it was the lack of delicious hot oil dripping out of it that I missed! :highly_amused:

On the subject of food, our air fryer..was worried about counter space, this one can replace our toaster...which was old. Toast takes a little longer but can do 4 at once so ok. Grilled cheese and hot dogs have been the best things we tried...homemade onion rings were no good

This one is a little too small really wouldn’t be good if you are cooking for more than two since I had to cook the fries and both steaks separate but I like using it really easy and everything has turned out great and doesn’t take up too much counter space. Going to try wings today

Laurie, wings is my favorite thing to make in the air fryer. So much quicker than the oven and awesomely crispy. I do turn them half way through and we have the second rack insert and I notice the cook better on the top rack.
We haven't tried steak yet but we tend to buy massive over-sized bone in steaks which wouldn't really fit, hhh.

Love that this thread is revived! I need to remember to take pictures and add them, lol!

I was going to say to remember to turn it back to toast after using air fry or your toast does not toast but your Keto so forget it...

Actually, Frank is pretty much at goal and increasing his carbs now, so I am getting him low carb bread this week. So, I will give the toaster a whirl for him. Also, I have some Cauliflour flatbreads that would be interesting to toast, so it might get more use than one would think!

I am really excited to try it!

Got this bad boy yesterday and promptly burned my bacon HHH! Then I made jalapeño poppers and they came out excellent (Forgot the pictures). Clearly, there is a learning curve but I'll get there. Frank made toast and was pretty excited since I put the toaster away last year!

Tomorrow I will make chicken wings and I will try bacon again :)

Looks fancy, Chris! We did sausage in ours earlier this week and they were seriously the best sausages ever, perfect crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside and not dry at all, and it was gross to see how much fat accumulated at the bottom.

Good luck with the bacon, I still feel like the oven wins the prize for best bacon.

Yummy!! I have Italian sausages in the fridge. I was going to try Laurie's stuffed sausage recipe, but maybe I will just air fry them! So many possibilities! I love bacon in the oven, but it takes about 20+ minutes. I think I can do it in 10 in the air fryer. Clearly 14 minutes was too long haha

What did you use for a dipping sauce?

I just used paprika, s&p before I air fried them. Then I tossed them in Frank's Buffalo Wing Sauce, and then I dip (double dip, triple dip, drown) them in Blue Cheese. They were as good as any restaurant, even though they were puny little ones HHH

Do you still like this air fryer? Want to buy one for son's gf for Christmas and no clue what to buy...and is it easy to clean?

We don't use ours in the summer but we love it makes steak better than grilled.

I really do. I use it several times a week. It works great to crisp up the chaffles, too!

This one has a pull out crumb tray, so that is easy. The inside gets greasy so I wipe it down with Dawn or all purpose organic cleaner. The basket takes a bit of scrubbing to get the bits off, but not too bad. I mostly love that it has so many uses. Other than cooking bacon. Nope, nope, nope!

Thank you Foamy and Nhcris….I think I might try and find one that is easy to clean. Because I have a feeling she will not use it unless it is really easy to clean.
