Reno/Tahoe is someplace that does not exist for SWA; at least as far is flight cost go. From ELP to RNO is over $500 for rt, from ABQ to RNO it is almost $400 rt. So whats a body to do, I will start out driving to Ak-Chin Casino in Az. on Wednesday, the 17 of June, spend a comped night there and fly to RNO from PHO on the 18th for a little over $300 rt, direct flight from PHO, but return flight changes planes in LAS. Get back in PHO at 1800 hrs. on June 23 and will drive 8 hrs. back to ELP. But fun times and good friends are calling, I need sit in a casino, smoke, drink and not worry about the hosp. Yes they will call, but like in years passed I have been too screwed up for them to understand me. Will June 17th please hurry up.

This flights from Vegas to Reno are really cheap, maybe drive another 300 miles and fly out of Vegas

Yeah I can't believe it's $450 from Chicago if I want decent times.

Southwest doesn't fly into Reno from Dallas nonstop. We usually go American from DFW and it is almost always around $450-$500.

Yeah, but unlike Kansas City, the drinks are free. I've seen the way some of you drink, you'll make up the cost of the airfare by the 2nd day!

If mike has to drive 8 hrs to Phoenix then drive to vegas that's another 4 1/2-5 hrs driving. Then sw tkt to Reno would be 92-100 dollars each way.

I have Phoenix to Reno booked may 16 departure for 98 each way. But June is higher. Best is 127 to Reno and return is higher 157. These are non stop flights leave Phx at noon leave Reno at 335 pm. I have used these since 9/11 when sw discontinued several flights to Reno

I am considering going to Reno the 17 use comp room then go back to airport the 18 to take shuttle bus to Lake Tahoe . Have to check times for the shuttle. Also I am staying in Reno after leaving Tahoe on the 23
Good luck it seems like forever since you have made it to a meet!

The changing planes just to get to Reno/Tahoe is what's holding me back. I'm a lousy flyer.

Flying into Sacramento is also an option. I believe it's a 2 hour drive from there, but it's an option.

That's a good option, Gypsy. My mom did a business trip in Sac a few years ago and they drove to Tahoe for one day for sightseeing.

Yeah, I've done it many times. The only time I wouldn't recommend it is if you are arriving on a Friday evening. The traffic could make it a 5 hour trip lol.

And airfare is a lot cheaper. I found RT on SW for $180 Sunday-Tuesday.

Very true - Gypsy!!! The traffic is really bad on a Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon going back from Tahoe to Sacramento. Beautiful views too but need to drive slower especially around those curves.

I'm flying out of LAX 6/21 and returning 6/25 $250 roundtrip. Summer months are expensive.

Mike, I admire your determination.

I suggest you consider flying in to Vegas for a couple days like I'm doing and then flying to Reno. Of course that doesn't help with the return flight, but just an idea. Plus if you made a lot of points at Venetian/Palazzo during your recent stay there you will get a offer from them for the Grazie summer get show and it happens to be the week before and during the meet so you could fly in to Vegas collect your gifts or gift certificates and not lose those points for the show. ;)

Diana, Still no offers (none since Nov) from Palazzo and I only did 10,000 points for my two-night stay last month.
If I do a stop-over in Las Vegas it will have to be Bellagio as they give me comped nights, free play, and meal credit any time.

That's the type of play my Mom does though hers might be a bit less and she is getting selected nights comped and $75 free play offers along with 25k slot tournament invites. I'm really puzzled why you don't have any offers at all. When you go into your online grazie account here, there's nothing at all listed?

There are offers now for April and May but I don't really consider them "offers" as they are just discounted weekend rates
$119 and weekday rates $79. I've only stayed in Las Vegas on comped offers in the past (except for the GN downtown during the Halloween Stumbles).

I think Grazie really frowns on video poker. Since the vast majority of Monica's points come from vp, it seems she gets penalized.

Darn, that sucks, you deserve comps!

I guess that's the only reason that really makes sense. Darn. :(

Too bad Reno Air isn't around anymore. Every flight stopped in Reno! We flew them from Portland to San Jose in '97.
