I started juicing again this week. Juice 2x a day in morning and afternoon and then have a "sensible meal for dinner" with DH.

Not just doing it for weight loss but it definitely helps. Mainly doing it for energy level and just generally improving my well-being.

Also hitting the gym for the first time in forever!!!

Congrats to everyone who is trying to lose weight. It is a constant struggle for a lot of us. It is a shame that all the stuff that tastes so good is so damn fattening.

It's been six weeks today since I started the "Fast" diet. I've lost 10 lbs, which I'm thrilled with because the week of KC I only squeezed one fasting day in and two walks. I'm off this week so I've gotten my 3 1/2 mile walk around the lake in every day.

There was no place to walk in KC. One morning we got up and walked around in the snow in the parking lot for about 30 minutes. We can usually find some great places to walk close to the casinos we go to. At home we have a half mile hilly half meadow half wooded path we do 6 to 8 laps on.

We have a man-made lake close to our foothills and it is a really beautiful place to walk. There is always lots of other people out and my dog gets to be social too.

Well thank you Blasé, you are gorgeous yourself. I don't need to lose much, but I don't want it to get out of hand either since I'm getting older. Have been really lucky most my life being tall. I don't know how you do that juicing thing, one meal a day? Tough!!

TWO meals a day. And today I did my morning juice and was feeling great, went to work out, then had to go to my aunt's house to pick up my wallet that I left in her car when we went to Four Winds the other day. And of course she offers me a glass of wine... who am I to resist?! But I guess, technically, I did *juice* twice today!! HHH, I crack myself up!

But yeah when I get fully on board with the two juices a day, I'll let you know how I feel. Probably be a lot more crabby.

My weight goes up and down like a merry go round.
On December 26, I weighed a whopping 262 pounds and decided to go on the Atkins diet.5 weeks later I had got down to 239 pounds but gained most all of it back during the Kansas City meet and greet and was at 258 last Monday.
Back on the atkins diet for a week, I weighed in at 244 this morning.

I joined My Fitness Pal. I don't do the forums there, but I do read some of it. I bought a food scale and weigh everything I eat. I log everything I eat to stay within my goals. I am feeling a LOT better about myself. I knew things weren't right last year, and knew I had gained a lot of weight, but attributed it to working a LOT of hours at a sedentary job sitting at my desk as well as very poor food choices. I finally made a doc appt after my eldest daughter's wedding. I walked in, and told her that I honestly didn't think I'd be alive in another 2 months, that I was profoundly weak, profoundly fatigued, and couldn't walk more than 5 feet without being short of breath. She did some testing and I my thyroid was majorly out of whack! Started on thyroid medication, which I know helped a lot, but then started some lifestyle changes. I am not one to workout a lot, but I can easily go shopping now without having to stop and rest or huffing and puffing. I stick to my plan with the exceptions of vacation times, but have found I now make better choices and don't eat as much on vacation. My doc is thrilled with my progress. Still a long way to go, but like I said, it's a marathon! It's CICO (calories in/calories out)

Thank you for sharing that with us QueenB. Keeping the weight off is a never ending struggle for many of us. I have been down to my ideal weight on many occasions but because I like food so much it seems that just when I think I have it under control I start gaining a pound or 2 a month and next thing I know I have a bunch of excess weight I need to get rid of. Best wishes to you for continued success. You are an inspiration to us all.

Not this time, I've done juice cleanses before but I realize that I just like food too much, lol.

Just having two or three green or carrot based juices throughout the day and then eating a normal dinner at night. Surprisingly I haven't cut down on my alcohol consumption all that much; I can imagine once I do that I'll lose weight even faster.

QueenB you are doing so well on your diet and are an inspiration to us all. I wish I had your willpower. I broke my diet yesterday and had chicken fried steak and chocalate ice cream afterwards. Got on scale this morning gained 2 pounds. Still down about 3 pounds for week so at least I am headed in the right direction. I think.

Zeus, thank you for your kind words!

Oh, James, I LOVE chicken fried steak! I am looking forward to having it in April on my vacation. We always stop at Lambert's on the way back from Tunica and their chicken fried steak is SOOOOOOOOO good. I love that place! And I am really glad there isn't one near me!

That being said, unless you are willing to give something up for the rest of your life, I don't think you can really demonize a food. You have to find a way to fit in favorites somehow. Usually by eating them less often, smaller amounts, or both!

3 lbs in a week is terrific! Keep it up!

seemoreroyals
03-01-2015, 06:39 PM
At least when I ate the chicken fried steak I took half of it home. Originally I was going to wait and eat the rest of it today but I figured one day of sabotaging my diet was enough so I finished it off last night.

Last week was a 0.5 lb weight loss. This week was 2.5 lb for a total of 76.5 lb since July 2014. Yesterday I had a "non-scale victory". I went shopping yesterday for a few clothing items. Didn't want to get TOO much, because I still have a long way to go, but I'm going on a trip with some friends in a few weeks and my clothes are either VERY baggy, or even falling off. My jean size was 3 sizes smaller than the smallest size I could barely squeeze myself into when I started. I think I was walking on air.

QB great to hear that you are still taking the pounds off. Those victories along the way such as fitting into smaller clothes etc. make it all worthwhile.

The first photo was back in 2012 at Coushatta. I was 212 lbs. The 2nd is a recent photo at my sister in law's wedding. Im now at 167lbs.

Eat lean food, cut out white carbs & Excercise regularly. It does wonders! This transformation didn't happen overnight either so be patient and results will come.

Good luck!

We have the same problem. We usually walk 3 to 4 miles every day. The better you feel the more you want to eat. Tracking the food will definitely help. My personal biggest issue I have is avoiding overeating in particular when on casino trips, at get togethers with families and friends, and going out to eat. If I was a stay at home hermit I would probably be as skinny as CPT. I have no willpower when tempted by fattening foods.

I work for an insurance company and they try to pull crap like that all the time with us. Feels too much like "Big Brother" to me, and I'm not even paranoid. I just think they want to control every part of my life. I think the 10-16 hours a day I give them should be sufficient.

Hi DK528, if it makes you feel any better, I started this thread on the old forum because I was motivated for about 5 weeks! I was down about 9 lbs, now it's only 5.

I need to lose a quick 10 because in 16 days me & DH will be NYC for two nights; lunch at Del Posto, dinner at Butter, maybe lunch at the Boathouse while in Central Park, drinks at 48 Lounge, ugh, know how many calories I'll intake in two days! Hopefully no rain and we'll be doing tons of waking!

Good luck, listen and let QueenB inspire you, she's doing fantastic!

Wow Foamy. That is great. I expect you can do anything you put your mind to doing. When do we start? Will you be doing the once a week weigh in like gg and queenb are doing? And since you are doing it I am in as well. Don't have quite 50 pounds I can afford to lose but I will commit to losing 25. Right now I am about 210 and will shoot for 185 and start tomorrow.

So the scale isn't making great changes.. but I had my annual physical this week.. and I dropped my bad cholesterol by 22 PTS without meds. I was pretty excited.. the walking and the choosing protiens over carbs appears to be working. Now I have to really crack down and lower that card intake to less than 20 grams a day.

Well, sticking with my commitment to posting here. Down .2lbs this morning. Because I've been working so much (just getting home from 14 hours at the office on a Sunday), my steps are way down this week (usually get 10k-12k per day, averaging 6k this last week). So my goal is to maintain for the next week and then refocus once this brief is filed! I have a black tie party on 4/18 and bringing a friend/possibly more so I want to look good!

Happy Easter everyone!! I will continue to eat healthy thru Tuesday night but once I get to Vegas, it's vacation time. No calorie counting!! I probably won't go overboard but I will indulge in a few treats and drinks. Hopefully all the walking will balance things out. Will get back on track once I get home. My motto is, "It's not a diet, It's a lifestyle." Life is too short to not enjoy it!! Good luck everyone.

I guess we could get some of those thong swimsuits. We were on a cruise one time and there was a south american couple on there about my age that were both wearing thong bathing suits. It would not have been so bad but they were standing about 2 feet above where Sassycat and I were reading out by the pool and they would never leave. I think they wanted our spot. I gave them several dirty looks and it did not phase them and I finally put them on ignore. When I looked up again about an hour later they were finally gone. But it you and Gene wear yours I will go buy one and we can all wear them out at the pool, that is if Sassycat will let me.

Great job on exercising, Laurie. I'm sure those 3 pounds and more will come off!

Laurie, I wouldn't worry. The gain might be due to fluid retention, which can happen when you start exercising. If that's the case it will fall off when your body gets used to the routine.

I don't have your willpower. Sharon was dying for a double cheeseburger, fries, and a chocolate shake. I couldn't let her eat that in front of me so I had the same....then I ordered myself 2 MORE cheeseburgers because I was still hungry lol.

Brought back memories of not that long ago when I would go to the bakery and buy a dozen donuts and I would give Sharon two and I would have the other 10 eaten before she was even done with her second one.

Only people my size would think that is normal eating habits ha ha. :)

Another good week in the books. I thought I was in pretty good shape until I TRIED tennis yesterday, lol. My whole body is super sore today. It was very fun and entertaining. I think I did more laughing then hitting the ball. We will add that to our weekend fun. Other than tennis, I rode my bike, ran at the park, and played corn hole. The weather here has been fabulous and I must take advantage of that before it gets too hot. Going to walk at a new park we found then more corn hole. I'm addicted to playing that game.

I hope everyone had a great week and continue to do well. It doesn't matter what your goals are, just take it day by day. And NEVER GIVE UP!!

I lost 1.5 lbs this week for a total of 91.5 lbs total. For me personally the BEST part is that when I began this journey I was morbidly obese, I moved into the "regular" obese category, and this last week has now put me into the overweight category. Next stop: Normal Weight! Hopefully I will hit that by the end of the year.

Uh-oh! Look out Gene...Sharon is going to want you to break out the Viagra : )

WTG Steph! I am stuck in limbo...nothing lost again but at least I didn't gain any this time like the week before.

Even though you didn't lose this week, not gaining any is a big plus. I know you'll get to your goal!! Wtg, Sharon!! Gene you better watch out, lol.

Wow.... Goldengreeke, congrats! Where do you get the motivation? I'm having a hard time just sticking to a diet for a week.

Sharon and I both lost another 3 pounds last week and are all set to show our new body's off in Tahoe lol. We have lost about 40 pounds each since the first of the year.

She dropped 3 dress sizes and I have gone from a 42" waist to a 36".

Probably will gain 10 pounds in Tahoe next week because I can't wait to eat some carbs again, but then I'll go back on the Atkins.

GG, that is freaking fantastic! I cannot wait to see pics of you at the M&G . I probably won't recognize you. And if you do gain 10 lbs while there, that is okay. You deserve it!
Congrats to Sharon also even though I do not know where she had that much to lose.

WTG Gene!! Sharon must be tiny! I have not been losing any more. Eating too much camping and not walking because I hurt my foot (don't know how)
