I received a text from one of our Jokers today that touched me.... and made me think:

So many of us have become good friends over the years, thanks to connecting via the message boards or Trip Advisor or whatever that connected us.

I remember where I’ve met so many of you over the years; hard to remember exactly what year lol, but it’s been a blessing that our paths crossed.

Just taking a moment of thanks to say how lucky I’ve been to have made so great friends here. [emoji3590]

Who else feels the same way?

It hit me in the face I spent my 27th birthday, now 35, with Caroline in Vegas. 8 Years! We have known each other a lot longer than I think we realize..time flies!

Caroline was one of the first people I met from the message boards... we were standing outside the TI venue for the first SMF meet and greet. I’m thinking this was 2011?

I remember that very first Kansas City M&G. That is where I met so many Jokers for the very first time. It went from Allen asking me "What the hell are you getting us in to?" to several years now of friendships that I cherish. I have never met a Joker that I didn't like. You guys are like family.

It’s amazing how much we enjoy everyone’s company. The first one we went to I was like fuck em I got enough friends but Laurie wanted to go and from the start we made great life long friends and I wouldn’t trade it for anything except maybe more bankroll.hhh

My first meet was to meet slot fanatics. That took a big leap for me. All i know was that there were a few that really made me feel welcome there. Then all the fun ones were joining a splinter group, meeting at Cosmo. Well, im fun! This is where i want to be. Waited in casino hoping to find em. Unfortunately there was a private room party going on. I thankfully waited till you guys came down and i joined up. The rest is history!

Yes, the first M&G Mark attended in AC, he decided to go home before meeting anyone, BUT left me his BR. Think you and Allen gave me and Ida ride to airport. Also the night I hit a 4000.00 royal on my last hundred.

Now, he likes everyone he has met and gets it. Before that, he didn't quite get me checking the forum and posting pics on trips.

I feel a deep kinship to people I have met here. Would rather travel to see you guys than go out in my hometown.

The only times that I took an airplane trip was to go to a casino. Without the Meets that were scheduled none of this would have happened for me. I am grateful to have met and spent time with so many of you guys. More of a lurker these days but so many great memories to look back on.[emoji481][emoji1634][emoji483][emoji484][emoji620][emoji3575]

Sent from my SM-G955U using TapatalkI had met CPT and a few others in passing one year at an AC M&G when it was SF. Only got to talk a few minutes before i had to leave. (Thanks to Mr & Mrs Penguin for the 5 hr energy they gave me, lol)

I know I've told this story before but like zeus, the first M&G in KC was when I knew these were some special people here. Actually it was billed as a SF meet but the split was already happening. Because i had never met anyone, I didn't have the ties and friendships that some already had and I was unsure about who in SF was sincere and who was fake. So I told Kevin that the only way I was going to know which direction to go was to head to KC and decide in person. Like Allen and Mark, Kevin thought I was crazy and was leaving him for someone I had met on the Internet[emoji23]. I was so nervous! Had no idea if I would be accepted or not but I got to see what a wonderful group of people Jokers were and knew there would be lifelong friendships made. It started with foamy giving me a ride from the airport and I immediately felt at ease.

Love spending time with this special group of people[emoji173]

I was new to forums and lurked Slot Fanatics. All of a sudden all the fun people were gone! Luckily Diana mentioned Jokers in one of her TRs. I lurked here for a bit and finally dove in with a TR. I remember sitting in my room at Delano trying to decide if I should do the TR or just keep lurking. I’m so very glad I did!

I think meeting Zeus at Cherokee was my first actual Joker meet up?? The rest is history. I’ve never met a Joker I haven’t instantly liked. I can’t wait to slot with everyone at KC! What a great group we are! [emoji3][emoji3]

Ha! I remember I dragged Adam to meet people I met online on a gambling forum and he thought I was insane also. It was a small SF meet at Foxwoods, within driving distance and he was ok with that.
CPT, Chrissy dee, nyphoenix, nhmagic, SME, they were the first people we met and we had a great time, and the rest is history! We now have great friends thanks to the random online searches years ago about slots, lol!
Love this thread Clemi! Great to reflect back!

That’s where I first met you... my only trip to AC!

Yes! And we took a break from Vics and Anthonys to smoke a cigarette. I knew right away their was a friendship. After the group dinner at Carmines, going to Borgata and playing VP with you and Chris. You kept hitting quad queens. I had to go back to GN because I was broke and thats when I hit my royal. Memories, good stuff. And for you to meet me at Graton when I went to visit my son in Petaluma for lunch was very special to me. That's when I first heard of what was to be Austin. Told you Grands change your life for the better!

OMG, I'm sure I can't even put into words the great memories I have of this. I think I was reading and posting on SF for a good year before we started planning the first meet and I had to convince Bob that I hadn't completely lost my mind to want to go to Vegas and meet these people in person. nhmajik and I had chatted quite a bit, and we arranged to buy tickets near each other to see Bill Engvall out there. The very first people I saw at the designated meeting spot were Gene and Sharon, and then nhmajik came along with Steve and I felt like I had known her forever. We ended up going to see Bill (I think we had second row seats) and we laughed like crazy. We met Ting, Treyster, and Dragonslayer. I remember writing in my TR how, much to everyone's surprise, that you really could meet great people online. The rest is history. My only regret is that I have not been able to convince one person I know or have met in my "regular life," to join us or to even be able to explain how much fun it is to hang with all of you. I guess most people have to find their own way to the best group of Jokers on the planet. :)

It really is special this community and lifelong friendships we have made. I cherish you guys and now, most of my gambling trips are planned around M&Gs! I wish I could attend more, but lately the dates around the big meets haven’t worked out for me. But retirement isn’t too far off and maybe then I’ll even make it to AC!

12-03-2019, 01:15 PM
Oh my, trying to remember the year I was going to attend the first SF M&G. I believe it was in September, maybe 2012/13? I had paid and my husband said I could go on my own and he would stay back at the casino, he too thought I was out of my mind. Jen came in from CA, she had Lucky Linda with her. A bunch of people met at the Metro in Borgata on a Saturday night. The next day was the M&G, I was so sick on Sat. but I managed to drag myself to the Metro, I wanted to meet Jen so bad and I ate soup, talked a little and went back to my room. I was so sick I couldn’t attend the M&G. I was in urgent care the next day with a 103 fever and the flu!

Come to think if it, this may have been my 2nd M&G year! I think my first was on the boat in AC, were we all still with SMF back then? Oh, I can’t keep this all straight anymore. All I know is that I cherish all of my slot/casino loving friends. It makes me feel good to know there are people out there like me who don’t think I’m insane or ready to put me in a 12 step program and who would have thought how close so many of us from all over our beautiful Country have come to be.

We have shared good times, sad times, triumphs, we are a very special group and I’m happy I started googling how to win on slots, who knew what it was going to lead me to[emoji3590]

Having experienced meeting people and making friends on that other site about cruising I (we) weren't afraid to meet strangers who share a hobby. I found SF and enjoyed following and only occasionally posting. So many people brought so much laughter to me each morning. Jester Pete immediately comes to mind. I wasn't able to attend any of their M&G's but enjoyed following the TR's. BUT then something happened, all the fun people seemed to disappear. I looked far and wide and finally found a mention of Jokers on Diane's blog. I don't remember our first M&G but Bill and I had no doubts it would be fun. Words aren't my specialty but know that the Joker's site and the M&G's bring a lot of joy into my life. Be it laughing or crying, celebrating life and hopefully slot wins I am always excited to wake up and read today's news.

And as a side note, on that other site about cruising the people are just as much fun. The group designed it's own ship with a Captain and crew (worldwide). My title is "The Official Lurker".
That thread has been going on for over 15 years. We had a M&G in early 2000 here in Chicago for crew members from the US and Canada. Some US cruisers have traveled abroad to meet up, many have cruised together. But this past Sunday before Thanksgiving The Captain (from Germany) and The Bartender (from the UK) and his wife and sister were here in the US to meet up and we enjoyed having a M&G of about 20 right here in Tinley Park. To be able to meet people from around the world that you share your life with on a daily basis is so exciting.

So meeting people on the internet in my mind is great. There is safety in numbers, even when the numbers are crazy (fun)!

I started lurking on SMF just before it started having technical issues and died. Then I became a member of SF. I think Mimi was the very first person I ever met - she and Jeff were in Tunica and I was with HappyGM and her husband . My first SF M&G was at Cherokee where I first met CPT , Rob, Dina, Derek33 (RIP), DW, Cyndy and some others we won’t name. It was small but fun. I also came to the SF M&G in AC that was on the boat and that’s where I met so many of the East Coast people. I have also had the great pleasure of meeting individual jokers throughout the years and it has been so much fun. Definitely weird to think about the friends I have gone to meet in person that I only know from the internet! When everyone disappeared from SF, DVandentop sent me a PM and told me where everyone was at JWE. I’m so grateful I found my slot family again. There are some truly great people on this forum and I’m happy to call many of you friends. There are still quite a few jokers that I haven’t met yet but I feel like I already know. I look forward to more shenanigans and living life stories that we all share.

We had just started slotting when I found SF. First M&G was AC for the boat ride. What a blast. Met many of you there, but one person who really stuck with us was Lisa Lockett. Many of you will remember that Lisa had Breast Cancer stage 4. We spent most of the next day with them and then for breakfast at Revel the last morning. Lisa's fight and courage has left a lasting impression on both of us. Sadly Lisa passed away.

The we hit KC for the 1st SB meet. This one is on our never miss list. Jokers are a great family and we have appreciated the time with the rest of you. Being the low-low rollers we are doesn't matter to you all (although we have been to bet $2 a spin when going for 2500 TC in a day.) One thing that the Jokers has really helped us with is understanding how the slots work (besides just being a depository for cash) and using CET to provide us with many places to vacation and party-on.

All great people here.

Great thread Clemi!

I went solo pretty much for several years to LV or Reno. Then participated with some folks on Flyertalk, but that was a long long time ago and folks were very cautious with meet and greets - so that just fell by the way side. Then I came across/attended some m&g's on Tripadvisor and that sort of faded. I am not sure how I came across SMF or SF but avoiding the drama I just let it go. I'm not sure how I found my way to Jokers, maybe thru some PM's, but I am grateful that I did/have.

I have made many good friends and like Trey says, folks in my other circles can't understand my interest. So now I just keep Jokers as a separate life space.

About a year ago (I know it was about a year ago because that was my second to last m&g), I over heard Clemi mention a name out of my past (possibly a good 10 years ago, don't remember that far back hhh). It was TopekaDucky. Wow, imagine ... maybe I met Clemi even before SF!! clemi I even remember you asking many moons ago if I was the same "hytail" from Tripadvisor. Small world is all I am saying...

Thanks all for putting up with all my goofyness [sp]. I miss you all, and I'm really looking forward to seeing you all again and meeting those I have not yet - see you in KC!
