NCL Prima

[Gypsy]

Heading out tomorrow on the red eye to Orlando. Ports are Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Great Stirrup Cay. I booked this cruise almost 2 years ago to use up my FCC’s during Covid.

We are pretty excited, but have read a lot of bad reviews on the design of the ship. Mostly that the venues are too small. We are keeping an open mind. The reviews have also said it’s the best food they have had on NCL with a few new concepts being introduced.

Donna Summer the Musical in the main theatre and this disco queen is very excited about that. The house band in Syd Norman’s does a show covering FM’s Rumor album which is also perfect for me, I’ve packed a few Stevie Nicks tshirts lol.

I’m also doing a slot pull and I have 70 participants! Crazy, I hope I can spread everyone out sufficiently. I’ll try to update when I have Internet!

Arrived in Orlando about 45 minutes late. We had to wait for passengers coming from Hawaii in LA. It was a long flight and I had trouble sleeping but never moved from my seat. Both ankles and feet are swollen up like little piggys!

Got an Uber straight for the port and there was a hand full of people in line at 9:00 am. Got checked in early and went straight to the line and we were first to board after Haven!

Got all our shows booked and then headed to Indulge Food Hall for lunch. We really love this new concept, there are many different food options, but you can order from a kiosk at your table and they bring you your food.

Spent the first afternoon in the spa relaxing, as we were really tired from the red eye. The spa is great on the Prima. They have a large salt water floating pool which is really hot. A huge jacuzzi with lots of jets. They have a regular sauna, an infrared sauna, a charcoal sauna, an ice room, a eucalyptus steam and a salt room. They also have lots of hot stone loungers and tea/fruit station. Our goal is to hit up the thermal spa at least once daily, and it’s right outside our cabin so it’s easy to visit before you get ready.

Dinner was at Cagneys. The food was outstanding and I’ve been disappointed at Cagneys on every other ship so that’s saying a lot!

Monday was a sea day. I hosted a slot pull which had 71 people signed up. I’m the end about 51 showed up, so not bad. There was no dragon link on the ship and they wouldn’t let me to BG because we had too many people. I decided on Dancing Drums at $10.00 a spin. We didn’t get one bonus! Well we closed the pot twice and got small minis each time. We did have a few nice line hits, so in the end, everyone got half their buy in back. I don’t have any pictures because I was too busy, but hopefully Richard got some!

Tuesday was Cozumel and we went to Mr. Sanchos beach club. It was just ok, food was just ok and we were limited on where we could snorkel. I’m suffering from an infected bug bite and trying to get tea tree oil for it. Richard is trying to get me to go to the dr, but I’m trying to wait. Hopefully I can find tea tree oil tomorrow in Grand Cayman.

Then it was back a Syd Norman’s. The house band was doing a special show called Rumors. They covered the entire album and told stories about the band. It was amazing!!

Keep an eye on it. A skin check is in order. I just has 3 spots of basal cell carcinoma removed just last week from sun damage.

Dinner was at Le Bistro and it was outstanding. All of the food on this ship has been so good, better than any other NCL ship we’ve sailed on. Except breakfasts, they’re been the same lol.

Our last day was Great Stirrup Cay. We had reserved wave runners, but they changed the time from 10:45 to 9:00 am. We didn’t notice and missed out! Richard did the zip lining instead and I opted to rent a float instead. It was a great day, but it got stormy and headed to the tenders about 2:30 pm

We got on a tender and I was nervous because the swells were like 8 feet. Our tender attempted letting people off, but only got about 5 people off and we broke away. This would go on for another hour and a half! The captain would reposition the ship to try and block the waves and we would try again and get a few more off and break away. Women and children were crying, throwing up and having panic attacks. One woman started convulsing!

We found out later they were preparing for us to go back to the island and sleep there if the last attempt didn’t work. What a nightmare. I have video of the whole thing but I don’t know hot to post it here. Luckily we made it safely as well as the last few tenders after us. The captain apologized on the speaker once everyone was aboard safely and everyone was talking about it the rest of the night. We bonded with Clarence, the infamous Chocolate Cowboy who was on our tender. He was a hero! While other workers were rushing to get off at each attempt, he was helping those that needed it and was the last one off.

I was doing pretty good and up about $600. I honestly didn’t play much this trip. We went to every show and enjoyed the live music in Syd’s every chance we got. But soon Richard found me and I got a bonus on my BG Revolution I got the hand pay on earlier. I told him, watch that green sliver, that major is ready to hit. And the wheel spun around, but it didn’t land in the green sliver. Instead, it landed in the red one. The Grand!! I got my first ever Grand.

Thank you for the wonderful TR! The ship is stunning. And the food looked amazing. The group you had for the slot pull looked like a rowdy and fun group, too. That had to have been awful getting back on the ship the last day, but luckily, everyone got on safely.

Our last day was Great Stirrup Cay. We had reserved wave runners, but they changed the time from 10:45 to 9:00 am. We didn’t notice and missed out! Richard did the zip lining instead and I opted to rent a float instead. It was a great day, but it got stormy and headed to the tenders about 2:30 pm

We got on a tender and I was nervous because the swells were like 8 feet. Our tender attempted letting people off, but only got about 5 people off and we broke away. This would go on for another hour and a half! The captain would reposition the ship to try and block the waves and we would try again and get a few more off and break away. Women and children were crying, throwing up and having panic attacks. One woman started convulsing!

We found out later they were preparing for us to go back to the island and sleep there if the last attempt didn’t work. What a nightmare. I have video of the whole thing but I don’t know hot to post it here. Luckily we made it safely as well as the last few tenders after us. The captain apologized on the speaker once everyone was aboard safely and everyone was talking about it the rest of the night. We bonded with Clarence, the infamous Chocolate Cowboy who was on our tender. He was a hero! While other workers were rushing to get off at each attempt, he was helping those that needed it and was the last one off.

I haven't ever had to do one before I can't imagine the mobility some of the people tbat were on our ship woulda been able to get themselves off the boat

we hear some other people who had a redeye back to Sacramento yesterday when we were leaving around Atlanta 6pm they weren't getting home too early either.

This was such a fun TR to go through. Great way to start and finish even better! Food, entertainment, spa all look wonderful. I am not cruise savvy to have to look up tenders. lol Thanks for sharing this.
