Hard Rock Tampa - go or no go?

I'm going to visit my mom in Orlando for Memorial Day weekend. I haven't been to Tampa HR in a couple years, my mom mentioned that she might want to go. My mom doesn't really go to the casino unless I'm there so she is itching to go.

I'm planning a trip to Pearl River Resorts first week of June so been kind of holding out on gambling plus I have classes keeping me busy.

I could probably go with a low budget and not impact my June BR but don't know if it's worth the drive since I know HR has not been very nice to me in the past.

Should I take mom or talk her out of it?

Personally, I think that you should take your Mother to wherever that she would like to go - within reason (remember, she's the one that changed your poopie diapers when you were growing up - haha!). If you go to HR (Tampa) I would only low roll. I've heard nothing good lately about that place. Just enjoy the time that you spend together no matter what you may do : )

Georgiagambler THR is my local and it has been good and bad to me. I know they can be tight more times than not. THR is only an hour maybe hour and 15 minutes away depending on traffic so it wouldn't be that bad of a drive. Low roll it and see what happens, you never know. I went a couple of weeks ago and low rolled it and had some nice wins to keep me playing for 3 hours and I was able to leave $10 up :) Then I went back last Friday and low rolled again and came home with very little bank roll left
I think it is like a lot of N/A casino's where they have you up and down like a yo-yo. Good Luck if you go and have fun here in Orlando with your family!

Yes they have penny and I think a two cent version. The penny is in the room by the pool up against the wall. Next to the small non-smoking room. The other one I know they have was in the room near the fountain and escalators that go to the buffet. It was along the wall. They have a slot finder kiosk by the fountain.

Thanks Jeani - walking dead is one of my favorite machines even though I know it is volatile. The thing that would save me is that it is probably always full.

Warning, I don't follow my own advice :frusty:, I have seen several people win handpays on the Walking Dead machine on the right-side wall past the Wonderfall. There are 4 machines against the wall and the one that I have seen the handpays on was the 2nd one from the end on your left if you are looking at the bank of machines.

Ok seems like I'm going but here is the next dilemma. My boyfriend is going with me on the trip and he wants to go too because he has never been there. The problem is that he is going to be working most of the weekend.

We get there Thursday night at 8:30pm, my BF and I could easily go straight from the airport but my mom wants to go so that means we have to go pick her up first. Again not a big deal for me or BF because we can stay up late but my mom tends to go to sleep early and this would be late for her. I told her to just take a nap before we get there. Lol but really I am concerned if she will get tired while we are there and I don't have a room for her to rest at the casino.

Ok, next option, BF doesn't have to work until 5pm Friday so maybe we can get up and go early? Well, my mom volunteer's at her church Friday mornings, we could go after but then we would have to rush because we need to be sure he gets back on time for work. It will be Friday night on a holiday weekend, I don't want to stress about him being late if we get stuck in traffic.

Now what? Do I go with BF Thurs night and go with Mom on Saturday? Decisions decisions :noidea:

I think that a compromise on your Mother's part would be in order here. You should explain this situation to your Mother and ask her if she can take a Friday morning off from doing her volunteer work and go with your early Friday morning plan : )

Traffic between Tampa and Orlando can be a nightmare, especially on a holiday weekend, it has been better since they finished some of the construction but would still suck to be stressed about traffic when you're trying to have fun slotting.

I agree with Darlene Friday traffic could be a disaster getting back to Orlando for your BF to get into work unless you get up super early to get to Tampa in the early morning and leave by 12 or 1PM. If you go Thursday night you Mom could take a nap before you pick her up. I don't think she would get tired because of all the adrenalin you have while you are at the machine. Hi Darlene, I have a players card but haven't played there in quite some time. I checked online and no comps for me boo. I'm sure we will work it out one way or another, we will see. If we do go on Friday, I would definitely go early and try to leave by 1 or 2 at the very latest. Probably even just bring his work clothes with us just in case we need to drop him off at work on the way back.

In today's update, mom might not have to go to church tomorrow but mom now says she changed her mind...lol. She is scared of losing, doesn't she know that's just part of gambling?

Anyhow, now the plan is for my BF and I to go tonight after we get in, we will just leave straight from Orlando airport. I told my mom I will call her tonight when we land to see if she changed her mind again :)

Darlene and Jeani, now that I'm definitely going - any machines you would recommend that might just let me sit and play? My first plan is to see if I can get on Walking Dead but would be interested to know if there are any games that you like as a backup plan since I'm sure WD will be hard to get on.

My favorite right now is Stinkin' Rich but it can be either HOT or really cold. I just sit at a machine that looks interesting and see what happens. I've really come to like WD too. I hope you have amazing wins and lots of fun :) :)

I lost my butt off but I had fun and did get a couple wins. We played until 530 am
