Well, it's hard to believe but Massachusetts will open the doors of their first casino on June 24. It will be a slot parlor with over 1200 slots including video poker and electronic blackjack. They have live harness racing 105 days a year as well as simulcast racing.

It's an hour and 10 minutes from me compared to an hour and 30 to Twin River (which I have stopped going to) or 2 hours to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun. So, I figured I would check it out after a few weeks to see what I think.

Then I got an invite to a Sneak Preview on June 22. It includes no freeplay or other enticement but I am still tempted to go. I am curious about where they got my info from. It uses Marquee Rewards, so I guess it is technically a Hollywood Casino. I never got a card at any of those that I visited on road trips, but I do have an old card from the M, so maybe that's where they got me?

Did anyone else around here get that invite and are you planning to go? I also would love input on Hollywood casinos in general. I can't seem to remember reading a whole lot of positive stuff about them....

Wish I could help you with some of your questions cris. As far as going for the Sneak Preview......hmm, as much as I hate crowds (although not sure how many would have received the invite, so not sure it'll be mass chaos), I would probably go in the hopes that the machines are set at honeymoon mode to entice initial business. Might just be profitable for you!

I would probably go check it out sounds like it will be a limited number of invites and also thought about honeymoon mode! The casino in Kansas we went to at the KC M&G is Hollywood. I have never won there.

Sounds fun, I'd certainly go. I think Chrissy got an invite too. I think she posted it on FB and I believe she was considering going as well. Can't wait to hear about it!!

The Hollywood Casinos that I've been to (Penn National and Kansas City) were both very clean properties, impressive architecture too. Free play and slot payouts, your luck may vary if it's backed by Penn National. Otherwise, should be a cool place if it's like the sister properties!

He does for sure! He seems to play American Original progressive most of the time. I don't have much luck there and don't like the vibe, especially considering that another half hour will take me to the CT casinos. It's not a terrible place by any means, just doesn't do it for me.

Thanks Ken. I can't remember if it was the Hollywood Casino in KC that I really liked, or the other one. I hope it is clean and has a good variety of clots. I am pretty sure it will be non-smoking, so they also need to have a nice smoking lounge.

Ken, I just assumed it would be open 24 hours, but you know what they about Assuming..... I can't find anything specific on their website, so I am guessing it will be, but this IS Massachusetts after all so who knows?

I too got that sneak peek invite and was wondering where they got my info. . Steve seems to think they were backed by Mohegan or FW, don't know. Yeah, nothing enticing me to go- I don't care to sneak peek....I'll save my money for the AC M & G.

Did you ever play at M Resort in Vegas Chrissy? They are Penn National and Plainridge is as well according to their website. Or they bought some player lists to get a boost!

I forgot to post that I went to the soft opening of Plainridge. It was very crowded, and I lost a quick $200 and left. It seemed nice enough and I will go back once it quiets down. They had decent machines including a few that can't be found in Ct. They have reasonable places to get a bite to eat including a very small food court area. It is very close to the Wrentham Outlets with lots of dining options available there as well. There was a band playing so loudly that one section of the slot floor was way too loud, so hopefully when there is no band playing I can explore that section more thoroughly. When I got my players card they asked if I played at The M in Vegas, so I presume that is where they got my info from.

Being so much closer to me (an hour and 15 or so without traffic), I expect it will be okay for an occasional slot fix but I don't plan to devote much of my play to them. Gram met me there (45 minutes from her) and was satisfied with the Smoking area but I am sure she won't be going in inclement weather. I expect they will see low attendance during cold weather!

Sorry no wins Cris, but at least you found a closer casino to get your fix. Let us know what you think about the place when things calm down there.

I went on day 2. It was clean, bright and modern. I dislike Twin Rivers. It is filthy, dark and smokey. I always lose there.

The fact it is smoke free is a plus to me. It might be a minus however to the bottom line. The food choices were very limited with no Chinese food and no Dunkis Donuts. I earned 1300 points in 3 hours and lost little.

It is a quick and easy drive for me. Hasta la vista Twin Rivers.
