Hi! Any Silver Strikers here??
Hi, my name is Mike. My handle is DaiLun. I was invited to this board by Sassycat, whom I had the extreme pleasure to meet this past weekend at Harrahs Tahoe.
My main game is slots, with a specialty in Silver Strikes.
Silver Strikes are the $10 tokens that are distributed in special IGT Double Diamond machines. The machines are .25 Double Diamond and you must play maximum bet to be eligible for Silver Strikes
Nearly all casinos had them prior to 2009, but in 2009, IGT decided to end support and told the casinos to "buy 'em or turn 'em in when the lease is up".
Most casinos turned them in, but a few remain. There is a Silver Striker Club at www.silverstrikers.com .
The 6 casinos in Nevada and 1 in Colorado (Johnny Nolon's) The casinos in Las Vegas that still have them are:
Four Queens (8 machines)
El Cortez (1 machine)
Mirage (2 machines)
Venetian (1 machine)
Palazzo (1 machine)
Sam's Town (1 machine)
The Four Queens is the unofficial HQ of the Silver Strikers club
Originally, the center of a Silver Strike was between .5 and .6 ozt (troy oz.) of .999 fine silver. In 2009, when silver prices started to climb clad strikes were introduced. They look the same as the original silver strikes, except the centers are silver plated brass.
Prior to 2009, you could exchange 20 $10 strikes for a $200 strike which was 1 lb. (12 ozt.) of .999 silver. In 2009, the casinos that kept the strike machines changed over to $300 strikes (trade for 30 clad) that were only 6 ozt. of silver.
The Four Queens issues new $300 strikes 4 times a year (limited to 148 available to the public), and those are 4 times a year that I am definitely in Las Vegas. They issue them in January, St. Patrick's Day, June, and Halloween.
There are also "special" strikes issued and put into the machines at that time.

OK, back to me. I live In San Jose, CA. I am a CET 7* member whose home casino in LV is Caesars Palace, but locally I frequent Harrahs/Harvey's Lake Tahoe and Harrahs Reno.
I am Asian-American, divorced and my 89 year old father and 14 year old son live with me, so my time for gambling is very limited. My trips are frequent and short. I look forward to participation on this board.
