That sucks
Thanks Ida. Sure appreciate the invite.
Suze - I am from the Chicago area but we do go to Four Winds every now and then. Out of all the casinos in the Chicago/Indiana/Michigan area, Four Winds is our favorite but takes the longest to get to (usually a little under 2 hours, depending on traffic and construction.) It definitely feels like we are on vacation when we are there!
Just popping in to say that the reason for the minimum post count is to encourage folks to join the community. That means sharing and participating. We love to meet new people but some of our regular posters are uncomfortable having so many strangers reading all about them while hiding in the shadows. If it seems people are just reaching 10 posts and going back to lurking, it defeats the purpose and we will have to look at other alternatives.
So please, introduce yourselves and join in! And a big thanks to those that have taken the time to introduce themselves so far!
Sad I won't get to see Kit and Ollie
Just came on to find this new rule so will have a go at getting to our 10 posts. We follow our close friends Wynnvegas exploits on this blog so don't really read any other blogs- sorry! I just love reading all about their travels, it feels like they are speaking to me all the way back home in Scotland and now they a leaving us for the states making five more posts will be worth it!!
You will find them in the Pocket Dump which is not restricted, no worries! I just encourage everyone to chime in if you can so we know who more of the community is. You probably don't want to just make 10 posts and go back in your shell as I reserve the right to change the required posted count at anytime, just saying! ;)
Thanks for the warm welcome MNvegasgal! Moyra and Billy have told us all about the members they have met so feel like we know them already!!! We haven't been to Vegas for about 4 years now but hoping to make a trip out to see Moyra and Billy once they are settled-the new house has to have room for us!!!!
Welcome welcome Bellagian! Any friend of Billy & Moyra's is a friend of ours and we are thrilled to have you here. And look how fast your post count gets up there when you just join in on the banter :)
And we are a bunch of suckers when it comes to baby pictures!
Hi @anni62, from where in the Chicago area are you? I'm from Bartlett which is a western suburb.
I too love going to FW, even though it's a bit of a drive. I agree that going there feels like a getaway!

Hi Blase - I am in the city, on the north side. I think you had some phenomenal wins at Four Winds a little while ago (or maybe I'm thinking of someone else?). Never won a lot there but love the machine variety and the hotel rooms. I don't know why, but I can play for hours and never win anything until about midnight.
I know I am late in doing so, but I wanted to give you my condolences on the passing of your Mother. I could tell from your posts that she was a beautiful and special woman.
How was the host's birthday party at Majestic Star? It's been years since we've been there.
I have been an infrequent poster but pretty regular reader, so I think this is a good idea! I'm in NM, I'm not sure if anyone else is here but I'm happy to answer questions if anyone ever ends up in this neck of the desert!

So I just came across this, was too busy this past weekend planting flowers! All I can say is post away! I was a lurker at first then got up the nerve to do a trip report, and the rest is history! Of course I started on another forum with my first post, but followed the fun crowd over here! I even got to meet my first two jokers in Vegas in April! Hi Zeus and Pat!
Hi Cynthia! I'm in Colorado, but DH and I may be heading to Taos for a mini vacation later this summer. Are there any casinos around that area? Or, is Albuquerque the closest? When we went to AZ, we weren't big fans of the casinos in that area. Especially the fact that most were $.02 machines. Is it like that in New Mexico too? Thanks for the info!
Am not Cynthia, but am sort of a NM slot junkie lol. There are NA casinos on every Pueblo you drive through - all Class III machines, all have free self serve soft drinks and immaculate restrooms and yes, I have donated to just about every one of them HHH..Right outside the Taos Pueblo is Taos Mountain casino, a tiny little thing in a prefab building but a nice snack bar! As you head south towards Santa Fe there is the Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo casino, one of my favorites, then keep heading toward Santa Fe and you'll be at Buffalo Thunder Golf Resort and Casino managed by Hilton - it's really an impressive property, could go on and on but won't bore you right off the bat lol- will try to dig up some pics from last fall though - welcome to the Jokers!
Thanks everyone! Moemoe is correct, Taos only has a small casino but it's non-smoking, so there's that. If you drive another hour or so south, you'll get to Espanola, where you'll find a couple more casinos and then heading further south toward Santa Fe, you'll find 3 more casinos, the best of which is Buffalo Thunder. That's a beautiful property with a Hilton hotel, a great fine dining restaurant and a large casino with a wide range of slots. Plus, a golf course!
NM casinos have huge amounts of penny machines, Stephanie. You'll find a small amount of dollar machines but hardly any $.02, $.05, or even quarter machines.
Most casinos have tables games. Because they are all NA casinos, there is no alcohol on the gaming floors, although most casinos do have a bar but you cannot take drinks out of the bar. You can have all the soft drinks you'd like, however! [emoji14]
I'm in Albuquerque, which has the largest casinos since it's the population center for the state. I've got 4 fairly large casinos within a 20 minute drive of my home, which, as we all know, can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the slot gods! [emoji848]. They're all good about offering decent free play, food offers, and free room offers.
Chimayo in the fall is gorgeous, northern NM is definitely the prettiest part of my state!

I like New Mexico and have visited the ABQ area. I've played at Isleta and Sandia. I planned to go back after retiring but haven't made it due to going to Las Vegas. Welcome @Cyntiap
Thx Cynthia and Moemoe for the helpful info! I hope to get to explore them all later in the summer. :encouragement:
I went on the coworker cruise in January and that threw all my vacation days and dollars out of whack, not to mention the resulting medical bills after the cruise, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat HHH - the two loves of my travel life now New Mexico, any part of it, and Barbados - dang I need to win a few massive hand pays HHH
Welcome to all those who are now out of lurk mode!
Ken, good decision. :)
Long time lurker here - love reading everyone stories!
Right. Glad I still get to see that cats. Thanks!
So much for no rules. Wasn't that the whole idea of starting this forum?
No rules were meant to be broken.

what's the big deal? It's 10 posts. I'm glad to be honest.
I think the 10 post requirement is great and should be 25 posts. Get the lurkers out and participate with the Joker community be it about sharing gambling stories, weekend activities or receipes.
I agree @RiverSong. There is just no nice way of saying this, but I'm glad it's bringing them out to post.
