Bermuda Bound 2019! 4/28 - 5/5

Hi all! We are back from a fantastic week aboard the NCL Escape! I’ll update and write more but wanted to start the summary with some pics!
Also, returning to work feels like running into a wall after a week of being unplugged and care free! (At least I didn’t have to travel this week like Adam did, we got home Sunday and he hit the road Monday am and is living out of a hotel in Central NY for the week for a project that he’s on that seems never ending!)

I'll do a write up for each day or group of days and then post pictures in the next post. :)

Day 1: Leaving NYC. It was raining and cold but we got to the pier quickly (my dad drove us). It was a mad house but since we booked through "casinos at sea" there was literally no line and we walked right on! (This was our free cruise we picked up from Foxwoods). It was our first time on NCL, we had a balcony room (our offer was for a regular room but we "bid" for a better room, its a thing NCL does apparently, and got the upgrade from just $125pp! yay!) 13th floor mid ship, and the room was great! By far the most sound proof cruise ship room we've ever had!
Sailing by the Statue of Liberty and under the Verrazano Bridge was really neat.
We explored the ship and bars the first day just trying to get the lay of the land, and had a late dinner in the Manhattan Room. The ship is beautiful and we were pleased with NCL so far.

Day 2: Sunny but a high of 50 degrees. Those of you that know us know that we don't need it to be in the 80s to lay out and get a tan, we hit the pools in Vegas when its in the 60s as long as the sun is out, but even this was too cold for us. However, there was a guy laying out ALL DAY soaking it in wearing just his swim trunks - that's commitment!

Day 3 was also at sea but it was SUNNY and in the high 60s! We spent a large part of the morning/early afternoon at the Adults only sun deck (not that there were very many kids on the ship). We also had full sun our our balcony so spent a bit of time out there too. The previous posts of pictures are mixtures of days 1-3 from my phone, still need to get from Adam's phone.
The seas were calm the entire trip, yay!

More to come later...

Looks great and wow yeah that is a cheap upgrade verse the room you guys were going to have definitely worth having a balcony for that many day trip

Looks great so far and wow, River Dragons was really good to you on those low bets. Never played it before so will have to check it out the next casino I see it in! Can't wait to see more[emoji4]

Thanks Elf! We were very impressed by the size and variety of the casino! They had an awesome multi denomination Wolf Run that was very good to me in nickels! (no pics since Adam was playing something next to me and I couldn't trigger the bonus but consistent line hits!) I kept joking, "that would be a handy if I was playing dollars like Elf!"

We were going to outright upgrade to a balcony if we didn't "win" the bid so it was an awesome surprise to get it for so cheap! We loved just sitting out there with a cocktail watching the ocean on the sea days. Definitely worth having your own private outdoor space.

So Adam is obsessed with River Dragons at Mohegan. I don't even think I've gotten a bonus on it there, lol. When we took my parents to Kelly Clarkson, my dad had a nearly $500 win on it on 1.76 bet and we've seen big wins on it on small bets so since we had a small bankroll because we didn't really care about gambling on the ship, we bet small and won! We also noticed only one of the two machines paid so we played that one. I watched a woman feed $600 into it at 8.80 bets and lose it all, then like a lurker, I swooped in with my 88 cent bets and would get a nice $100+ bonus, lol!
It definitely liked the lower bets! Hope you find it, Ida! (and it treats you as well as our Tarzan suggestion!) ;)

Looks good so far (except the rain on Day 1). Do they give you robes? I was so disappointed that Royal Caribbean didn't have robes in our outside balcony room on our Alaska cruise, and even more so when my brother said that Carnival had 'em. Cheap!

Ha! So it looks like from the slot finder that every CET property II visited https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bab5de70cf.pngin Vegas last month had it and I didn't even know it LOL. The good news is it looks like all the CET properties in Atlantic City have it too so maybe in August I'll get to try it. Hoping for some Adam luck on it!

Good to know about the suite upgrade bidding. Also want to try that dragon game now. One I probably wouldn't have even looked twice at :) Can't wait for the sunset picture!!

I am loving this so far! Looks like a fabulous trip and I am happy you liked the ship. We'll be on NCL Gem to Bermuda next month, so I am really excited for your Bermuda pictures and activities (Adam is a Speedo maybe?).

I assume you had the drink package? How were the wine options?

Robes were not in the room, but I'm sure I could have asked our Room Steward for them. We also thought it was weird that they weren't provided, we had them on our Celebrity cruise (and nice ones since we were in the AquaSpa rooms on that sailing). Guess it's just another way for them to cut costs.

We were thrilled, especially since our bid was in the "Poor" category range. And River Dragons is addictive. One of my bonuses was over 80 games, it just kept retriggering! :)

hahaha, no speedo but I'll provide Adam beach pics!

And yes, we had the drink package (it was our "free perk!") and the wine options are AWFUL! Yes, I can be a bit snobby but I'll drink whatever, but some of it was just undrinkable. They price out any drinkable wine to make you pay the surcharge, it's dumb. Adam has pics of the drink menus on his phone, I'll be sure to post them. Funny thing is Patron tequila, Grey Goose vodka, decent scotches were all covered but a Chateau St. Michele Riesling would have been a $5 up charge, umm...NO. I'll do a drink specific post and share my thoughts on this drink package vs. Celebrity's.

Day 4...we have arrived in Bermuda!
We ate breakfast, got off the boat, headed to the shared taxi shuttle straight to Horseshoe Bay Beach. OMG it's beautiful!! We've been to many places in the Caribbean and Mexico and this is the softest sand and probably the nicest beach EVER!!! To say we loved it would be an understatement. We laid out our towels and parked ourselves to soak up the sun. The beach is giant and we walked and explored all around. The water was great once you got in it, honestly, we loved it!
That night we took the Ferry to Hamilton for their street festival but didn't end up staying for it because we were wiped out from the beach, lol! We did get a local beer at a pub and watched the sunset on the ferry ride back. Grabbed dinner and hit the hay!

And now you see why we go to Bermuda every year. Everything about it is wonderful, but the beaches are simply spectacular!

Great pics! Loving your report. We do a Bermuda cruise almost every year. We leave May 24 from Boston. Thanks to both Foxwoods and Twin River we get cruises up to 4 times a year. Plainridge also gave us a free cruise this year.

Bermuda is gorgeous. We saw the America's Cup 2 years ago. Spectacular!.

Thanks LowAndSlow! And we certainly didn't feel like models after a week of overindulging in food and drink! I find cruising to be SO relaxing!

Day 5: Second day in Bermuda

Guess where we went? That's right, the same beach! LOL! We loved it so much and didn't want to risk trying a different beach and it not being as nice. But we did pick a different spot to sit and were in the water much longer. Once again it was PERFECT beach weather! We had magazines, a perfect view, and lots of cold water to keep us hydrated.
When we got back to the ship we grabbed a snack at O'Sheehans, some drinks, and listened to live music around the ship in the evening.
The woman on piano was really great and the Dueling Piano show late night is always a fun time!
