Thread: FoundersCard - Complimentary CET Diamond Status

  1. #21
Yes -- I usually spend about $0.35 a year at CET properties, but still get full Diamond perks with the Founders Card benefit. So considering how CET slots pay back, it's a real savings!

I stayed at the Nobu Hotel at Caesars Palace last fall using the FC discount, just to check out the rooms (with the discount, it was less than $150 the night I went). They waived the resort fee, gave me a discount at the Nobu restaurant, and left a monster amenity gift box full of snacks for me. I also like being able to go to the CET Diamond lounges for a glass of Champagne when I need a change of scene and don't feel like dumping more $ in the slots. And I get a line pass for buffets, etc., and free show tix every month, though I still haven't bothered to go to one.

I've also used Founders Card discounts to stay at Mandarin Oriental and Cosmo when I wanted a fancy hotel experience but didn't want to deal with chasing comps. I swear it saved me money -- those comps are expensive. Anyway, like I said, PM me if you're thinking of applying anyway, and I'll give you a FC invite code.

EDIT: My FC account for new member invites says it's "an annual rate of $395 (vs. our standard rate of $795)." I definitely wouldn't pay that standard rate! @sassycat, does your SIL have a lower rate she can share?

Is the card good for one year from the date you apply for it?

DK, but I'd assume it's a year from when you're approved.

She said that when she called they told her $395 with $100 gift card from American Express back and I think she said she would prefer to skip the American Express gift card = that's why it was $295.
@boots - sounds like you have a great idea on using it to pamper yourself too!

How did you like the Nobu Hotel? I'm so curious.

Nobu room was very comfortable with lots of carefully thought out details, and lovely amenities. (I'll post some in the Super Sparkly VIP section, if I ever find the time.) But it was also very dark, with not much of a view -- just a tiny slice of the Eiffel Tower. And that was a "premium view" upper floor room!

I guess that's one of the unfixable problems you get when you renovate an older structure. Really nice lipstick, but it's still a pig.

I have been reconsidering the Founders card. Unless I am reading something wrong, it looks like mosaic status with JetBlue gives you free changes & cancellations which for a flake like me is worth something. Plus 2 free bags, which is something now that they charge for even the first one.

JetBlue change and cancellation fees will be waived for Mosaic members and others on their itinerary.

Combined with the Diamond status which can be matched by certain casinos (Borgata for one) it might
    be worth $300.

I just got my Founderscard approved and am anxiously waiting for my Diamond card update. It's good for me as I use CET properties quite a bit when travelling and I always stay at both CET and Borgata when I go to AC . Takes a few weeks to see the upgrade so am not sure I can get it for the August trip, but have another road trip planned in Sept. for the Smokey Mountains via AC to Cherokee and those upgrades will come in handy. Does anyone know if diamond status gets you comped weekend rooms?

Room comps are generally based on play and not necessarily Diamond status. I get comped rooms on weekends but in Vegas and AC it's hit or miss and I'm highest level Diamond(about 30k from 7*). The only way I get comped weekends in vegas now is using a host to book the room.

My sister-in-law does not get comped weekend rooms. Her play does not warrant it.
It's hard to get a room period at Cherokee. I have heard that they might get you a comped room at a neighboring hotel.
