I play mainly VP and I know by the variation of game I play what type of volatility I will have to deal with. As far as slots are concerned I am interested in what others have to say and I am all ears.

I like high and med volitile slots. One clue is multipliers during bonus(buffalo, timber wolf). Sticky wilds is another. A bonus that can give 100's of free games .
Low volitile slots are super stacks like igt .

High volatility slots: Konami is one good example of it. Have you ever played China Shores? When its dead, its dead and could be for a long time before you even get even what you are betting back. It could be dead spin after dead spin. When its hot, it is hot but not for long and you get more big wins on a single spin. Hit a bunch of free games on china shores and you will find out that 75% of the spins in the free spins are low payouts like 5 or 10 cents if betting minimum bet or just completely dead, between 5%-10% big amount win spins. I get like maybe 2 or 3 really good payouts in a bunch of free spins with the rest being no payouts or very little here and there less than what you are betting. With low volatility like WMS slots, you get wins more often at least what you are betting back and you will not see many big wins on a single spin like with Konami.

Low volatility? More wins more often, very rarely a high payout spin win
High volatility? More dead spins more often with very huge amount wins on a single spin every now and then.

That is how I see high vs. low volatility slots. Slots that are in the middle could be ones like quick hit where you can win more often at least your bet back and every now and then sometimes you will see a spin with a high payout win, seeing higher payout wins more often than low volatility slots like WMS games. I slot hop a lot with Konami slots because of its high volatility. When I get off, someone else usually gets on and then gets off, and then I get back on and sometimes it could start paying out again or maybe waiting til after a few play it before getting back on what I already went on.
