NYE in Vegas for Dummies...

Finally going to Vegas for NYE!! It will be my first time ever and want to make the best of it. I have no offers for shows or dinners just a comp room. Staying at PH 12/30-1/1 after checking out we will take a side trip to Hoover Dam then move on the Harrah's for one night. When I check in should I ask the host on duty if there are any freebies I could have? What are the do's and don'ts? Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I would not attempt to go out to Hoover dam the 31st and then try to get back on the strip as they usually shut it down. I would go on the 30th and ya should be ok

Yeah besides traffic will be horrible that day out by the damn and on the way back to town as well.

I have a question for those familiar with NYE. We are seeing Bruno on the 31st. I assume the show will end about 10pm. Will we be able to walk through casinos from Monte Carlo to Mandalay? When do they start only letting people with room keys into casinos? Should we plan on taking a cab instead?

Elf I’ve only been once for NYE so I’m no expert. You might want to post your question on Vegas Fanatics as there seem to be quite a few experienced NYE posters.

What I’ve been told is, they shut down entry into casinos to those without room keys at some point. I would think there will be provisions in place for concert goers to get back to there hotels. Maybe your host can advise?

I’ve also reserved a table at the MB sports book for football on Jan 1 for Elf Jr. He’s never bet sports so will be giving it a shot. We would love to meet up.
