That would have been nice to have met you. Work always seems to get in the way. I know we will return and hopefully we can meet then.

To wrap up our trip, I can say we definitely would return to all of the places we visited.

We left on Tuesday afternoon and drove the seven hours to our first stay at L' Auberge. We arrived at 7:30 p.m. after having some very stressful and scary moments in traffic and torrential rains in the Houston area. While driving we found out that one of my husband's dear friends lost his wife. Then we had a scare from the sheriff's department. They were trying to locate my mother-in-law, which scared us. Fortunately for us and maybe not for someone else, they had the wrong person. My mother-in-law was eating ice cream at home. I hope this was all just a misunderstanding and someone else's mother is not missing.

We checked in at L' Auberge with no problems. We found it rather busy for a Tuesday night, but all was manageable. As for the room, it was a little dated. Not dirty or anything, but maybe needs some updates. It smelled a little "musty" due to the humidity, we thought. We weren't in the room much at all, so it was not a problem.

We really enjoyed the slot floor. We loved the selection, the atmosphere and the wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The player's club was really generous, we thought. We earned $20 in free play, a free buffet and a free room each all on a few hours play. We played $1 denomination slots, not really high rolling or anything. Based on Lacy's recommendation, we chose a late night meal at Asia. It was simply wonderful and we really appreciated the tip.

We chose to use our buffet comp for the breakfast buffet before we left. I have to say this was a little surprising and disappointing. We got there late and it was the end of breakfast and they were preparing lunch, so that might have been why we were not that pleased. The food seemed like it had been sitting for a while, but mostly, the actual service area seemed ... well, not clean. I really was worried about getting sick. It may have just been a bad day, but I don't think so. The glass in the display cases appeared to have been dirt for a while. I don't think I'm being too harsh, but it could have been just when we were there, because this resort was top notch in decor and service.

We took the trolley to Golden Nugget. While it was an absolute beautiful facility, we both decided we preferred the atmosphere at L'Auberge much better. The people looked happier and were having fun.

After five hours of gambling, we did the pocket dump and determined that with both of us playing slots all night, we had only lost $400. We were happy with that.

We left for Coushatta at around 11 a.m. and arrived shortly before noon. We were not expecting a room to be ready, but it was! This was our first win. The next came 30 minutes later when my husband hit the $2,400 hand pay and then about 10 minutes after that when he hit for another $1,000 jackpot. Unfortunately, this was our only big wins of the trip. We had several low-to-mid range wins ($100-$300) that kept us playing longer, but in the end we lost our wins, plus half of our bankroll. Still a win, really.

While trying to figure out the player's club benefits, I realized we had over $200 in "comp cash," which we planned to use for our room. I went to the front desk to ask how to convert the comp cash and was told to check with a host.

We walked in to the host's office and met a really nice lady. She asked for our player's cards, which we provided. She looked at mine first and then my husband's and said "At lease someone had a good trip." LOL. Yes, it was me who was the big loser! We've laughed about that for two days. Anyway, she was so sweet. She comped our two night stay and we only had less than $100 in food charges, which we converted the comp cash to pay for.

That left over $100 in comp cash. So, the benefit of being members of a forum such as this, I had learned about the "Feather" something convenience store on the premises. In other reports, I had read that you can use your comp dollars for gas, food, booze etc... I was a little leery, but we stopped by and I inquired inside. Sure enough, that's exactly how it works. You show them your player's card and ID and they tell you how much you have.

We chose booze and tobacco ... because, why not.

The highlight of the trip, I have to say, was getting to meet Charlie and Donna. They were so sweet and I recognized them from their pictures on this forum. I felt a little strange asking "Are you Charlie?" but they were gracious and were expecting that we would be there. We chatted for a while and I enjoyed them very much. I was sad that we did not catch back up with each other before they left, so that my husband could have met them too.

After we left Coushatta, we stopped at Delta Downs and I played the new, three-reel Buffalo. I loved it and will play it next month in Las Vegas. I got the bonus and several re-triggers for a total of 38 spins. Within the bonus, I got the "spin" feature for $75. The total bonus was $276. I can't tell you we took it with us, but did have fun in the high limit room! (Always a bad choice).

We then headed to Lake Conroe for a conference, which was not near as fun.

I'm sorry I did not take many photos, but truly there wasn't much to photograph as far as wins.

Thank you for all the good luck wishes and for reading along with us.

@hccj, sounds like you and your husband had a fantastic few days at some new casinos with good wins and got to meet some Jokers. It is odd the first time you meet a Joker but you’ll get used to it. Hopefully you will attend a real Meet and Greet soon now that you broke your Joker cherry.

If I wanted a time out, I would go back to kindergarten.
