I have heard stories like this before but this is a particularly scary one.

I have heard those stories about people following big winners home from the casino to rob them, but I have been actually more concerned about something like this. At least if you are being followed in your car you can call police or drive to a police station. Once in an elevator not much you can do, especially alone. I also don't mind if they have security checking your room key, but other than the Boyd casinos I don't know of any others who do it now.

I know Aria and Bellagio do. Not sure of others.

I guess I tend to be a little paranoid because thoughts of this happening has crossed my mind before when walking alone down those long hallways in a lot of these resorts. You just never know anymore these days.

And here was an elderly man just away to have some fun, but this scum changed all of that, and the lives of his family. Just for maybe a little money.

Scary. This happened back in 2019 and still has not made it to trial. Here's a follow-up article. https://patch.com/illinois/joliet/it...-food-poisoned

There is scum everywhere today. I despise people (animals) who take advantage of other people. It's a good thing I stopped carrying.

The one thing about all this is that Harrahs said they would provide security at the elevators checking room keys. Didn't last 6 months. Borgata since the beginning has security at the door to the elevators that electronically checks room keys on people entering that area. Easy to do, just have to have commitment. We still go to Harrahs Joliet, but careful when using elevators. They also eliminated valet so now have to use garage for parking. Harrahs AC garage also has bad rep for criminal activity.
