    Norwegian Casinos at Sea

Does Norwegian have a program to earn free drinks while playing in the casino, similar to Carnival?

Our nearest local teamed up with Norwegian this year to offer a “free” cruise to some higher tier players. I had to make our reservations by Thursday so we’re signed up for Western Caribbean out of NOLA in November. When I made the reservation I could choose 2 free items, so I chose the premium drink package & shore excursions credit. Thing is, we don’t drink all that much, and they charged us $277 for gratuities. If we’d be earning free drinks in the casino anyway, I’d see if I could change it.

I believe you have to earn 1500 tier to begin getting free drinks only in the casino. So if you’re not ones to want to drink by the pool bar or at the bars throughout the ship then they free package may not be for you.

Tell them you would rather have the upgraded dining package. One plus of getting your drinks through the casino is that you can get free bottles of water, the small ones but I load up on them while I’m playing (take a big bag with you) and then I bring them to the pool or on my excursions with me.

If I wanted a time out, I would go back to kindergarten.

Every time I have booked free cruise through CAS it comes with a card for free drinks in the casino. They have downgraded what you can get with the card, so it is only well drinks and maybe one beer and a wine or 2. I believe this is still part of booking through the casino.

I'll be on NCL at the end of the month and will pay attention to what drinks are offered in the casino. As BorgataBabe said, you can get bottled water in the casino, and that is a good thing since it is not available on the regular drink package. I actually added the drink package because I like to have wine with dinner, and a drink every now and then for no good reason

    Clear as mud?

You won’t even have to “earn” the free drink card, they will be waiting for you in your cabin when you arrive! We always choose specialty dining over the beverage package because the casino drinks are so easy to get, you don’t even have to be actively gaming. You can get your drinks from the casino bar anytime the casino is open by showing your card. And the casino bar is conveniently located close to the speciality dining venues so we would just get our drinks before meals too and take them in the restaurant. They will give you 2 at a time, so yes, stock up on water and energy drinks which aren’t available through their regular drink program.

We did the Western out of NOLA last March on the Breakawy and had a fabulous cruise. I highly recommend buying the spa pass if you’re not in a spa room, it’s fabulous!!!

Didn’t see Chris’s post when I posted, but I will add that I cruised about a month after the downgrade and we were still able to get all types of drinks...mojitos, bloody Mary’s, pina coladas etc. but with house well, you couldn’t specify like Tito’s vodka. My Stella’s were also available and Coronas etc.

It works for us, but there are times it’s more convenient to have the package, sail away or when you’re up by the pool. But definitely do able and you save a lot of money!!

Thanks for all the info. I’ll call Monday & try to change it.
