Your favorite old Aristocrat's will soon be gone

By April of 2021 the Nevada Gaming Commission has ruled all Aristocrat slots using the MAV500 (mk 6) platform must be removed from service. That platform is what we all enjoy playing. It's the games like Outback Jack, Mr Woo, Cashman, Roll Up, Pelican Pete, etc...just about any old Aristocrat games. The old Buffalo and WWII that are at Bally's, PH, and Paris are in there too. Fremont St still has a bunch in service.

Here's the story as best I understand it. Remember back several years ago the article in Wired magazine that detailed the Russians had reversed engineered the RNG inputs from the Aristocrat MAV500 platforms and figured out a scheme to win money from those in service? It was a fascinating article.

Anyway, since then the NGC hasn't been satisfied with how Aristocrat has been handling the situation and apparently word came down last Spring they had revoked the MAV500 platform entirely. All those must be removed from service by April next year.

Aristocrat has been offering big incentives in the last couple of years to have casinos trade in those platform games. They do offer a daughter board replacement to keep the old games 'legal' but it's way too expensive to justify the cost for a 10-15 yr old slot.

The MAV500 platform was replaced with the Vridian platform. The easiest way I can tell you to check is the MAV had square buttons, Vridian has the triangular buttons. I think the only casino in NV that would be exempt is Avi down in Laughlin, it's native american owned.

Since NV has outlawed these games, I imagine other states will follow along soon. Just speculation on my part. NA casinos can do what they want.

I played the Aristocrat wall in Laughlin a lot this summer. My last trip (last weekend) I came to the realization that they really aren’t paying out anymore and that I’m really bored playing them.

I love playing the old Buffalo games. They pay so much better than the new versions.

You know I’m devastated by this news.

Once these are gone, that will probably be the end of my slot playing days!
